Emotional silence against a clear black sky breathes
utterances of pain and misunderstanding.
I can't help but wonder where that little girl is, who
lost her innocence in broken promises
and little colored girls cry 'cause the rainbow ain't enough.
It never was. It's tough, to wear a mask when you're in some really f@#ked up stuff.
Little black shoes and pink frilly dresses from the floor to the ceiling.
Two pig tails hanging down with neatly tied ribbons, smiling for pictures but her eyes know no feeling.
She has been taken, a victim of the system. Who knows her like the streets, she's wheelin' and drug dealin'. Now her air is confident but her heart is bleeding.
Her rest is temporary. She prays to the heavens. When will it be over? She's only seven.
A flashback to the past as she sits with freedom in her grasp, a needle to the flesh, that thought will be her last. She cries and it's easier than a fake smile so she takes a final breath and collaspes to the ground.
All around her the silence subsides. Emotional awakening against a clear blue sky.

I can not describe what it feels like to experience perfection. Not on a night like this one where everyone and everything happened in an instant. No planning involved, no inkling of a predestined event (outside of a passed birthday a few days prior). But, that's just what it was. Predestined. Who would have thought a day of business and delivering overdue wedding thank yous (a year late to be exact), could end up on the roof with 10 beautiful souls. The moon was full tonight. The graying clouds added their own personal touch to the vast and majestic sky that sheltered us from the rest of the universe. And we, ascended into a beautiful space of love and spirit. A guitar and a drum were the heart beat of our communion. Everyone, gathered in a circle. My husband stood on the outside as if to guard these beautiful spirits and me, as his spirit became fed with their positive energies. A song begins and flows off the tongue of our host. She is an incredible talent, and as her words flow, so does the crash and wave of coinciding lyrics falling off the lips of another less subtle woman. She is a spoken word artist, and she is bad. Everyone is vibing, love, sexuality, lust, and longing reverberate in the words and the drums of our cipher. It doesn't last long because the security guard knows we're on the roof. But, she is part of the "family" so she sits for a session until her shift is over. Even she has some energy she wants to send through us. It finally comes to an end and new relationships are started, under a full moon at the end of the summer. I couldn't describe perfection. No, but this was. You should have been there.
