Greg's dad passed away last night totally unexpectedly. <bleh> His brother is coming home for the funeral. He is going to stay with us on Sunday night, but when we blew up our Aerobed we discovered it has a leak. Instead of going kookoo to find the source we are hoping some lovely soul will loan us something suitable to use. We live in SF and don't have a car, but we are willing to come pick it up within reason and who knows, there might be an apple crisp in it fer you. Wuddayasay? From Times Online December 28, 2007 Seven hurt in punch-up at Church of the Nativity fight that erupted between Greek Orthodox deacons and Armenian priests. Police were called to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem after a fight broke out between rival priests Sheera Claire Frenkel for The Times, in Bethlehem The cradle of Christianity was rocked by an unholy punch-up when Greek Orthodox and Armenian priests came to blows in a dispute over how to clean Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity. The ancient place of worship, built over the site where Jesus Christ is said to have been born in a stable more than 2,000 years ago, is shared by various branches of Christianity, each of which controls and jealously guards a part of the holy site. The brawl apparently began when Greek Orthodox priests set up ladders to clean the walls and ceilings of their part of the church after the Christmas Day celebrations. Armenian priests claimed that the ladders encroached on their portion of the church, which led the two sects to exchange angry words which quickly turned to blows. Witnesses said that the robed and bearded priests scuffled for more than an hour using fists, brooms and iron rods as weapons. <what? No feet?> Photographers who came to document the annual cleaning ceremony instead recorded the entire event. Five priests were lightly injured in the melee, which was eventually broken up by a dozen unarmed Palestinian policemen. Two of the policemen were hurt in ending the brawl. Victor Batarseh, the Mayor of Bethlehem, said that he has had to intervene in the past to ensure that the cleaning of the Church happened in an orderly fashion. “As usual the cleaning of the church after Christmas is a cause of problems,” he said. Even priests were not immune from the tensions that fill life in the West Bank, said local shopkeeper Fayed Sahiri. “We live in a very tense, very afraid way under the occupation. It is unavoidable,” he said. The outbreak of the Palestinian uprising against Israel in late 2000 and the fighting that followed has clouded Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem for years, battering the tourism industry that is the city’s lifeline. It is not the first time that a ladder has led to fisticuffs among priests in the Holy Land. In the courtyard of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in Jerusalem’s Old City, a ladder still stands as a reminder for all priests to watch their tempers. One hundred years ago, the ladder was erected by a priest attempting to repair damage done during an earthquake. Another sect accused the priest of trespassing and a fight broke out. When the dust settled, the priests decided to leave the ladder as a reminder to the future keepers of the Church to solve their disputes in a more Christian fashion.

hope you are enjoying the day however you are spending it. We are cold chillin' after a nice morning with the kid. We made a kick ass Christmas Eve dinner of cornish game hens, mashed taters and roasted veggies with chocolate mousse for dessert. I must say that I raised a woman with good ideas! I love love love that girl. Greg made us breakfast while I was on eggnog latte duty :) Don't need much else cept these two to make me happy We went up to Napa over the last weekend to visit with Barbara, Greg's mom. She is a sweet lady. The year has certainly been a tough one on Greg, Barbara and her sister, Peggy esp with her dad's declining health and subsequent passing. BUT Peggy's daughter, Julie had a baby the other day and we got to visit Nathan at the hospital!!!! Welcome lil guy!!!! Sorry you missed Grandpa, but we'll be telling you so many stories of his that you will almost think you do remember him :D It's a good Christmas

Mark felt the need to post it several times on tribe and then send it to all individual tribe users- It's that time of year when people tend to overeat, so we’re going to try to do our part by taking some donuts out of circulation. We’re sure that you’ve noticed the recent instances of site instability and the plague of outages resulting in the much-hated “DONUT FREAK OUT” page. First, we replaced the DONUT FREAK OUT page with something more informative. Second, we’ve listened to our users for solutions to our site instability problems. The overwhelming consensus is that our users love tribe.net so much that they are willing to pay for a premium subscription for all the functions that we now give to you. We’re excited (happy? grateful? nervous?) to say that we’re going to launch the premium subscription service next week. Between November 30th and December 15th we’re going to offer premium subscriptions at five bucks for thirty days. So here’s how it works while we’re developing the upgrades: Tribe’s traditional, free service is going to continue just as it always has and always will. Those that want to upgrade can click on the PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION link, fill out the information, and sign up. The premium subscribers will automatically have a gold star instead of the orange bubble when they’re online. The Premium Subscribers will not see much of a change initially, but will receive a list of what the new, premium features will be on or before December 15th. We’re not going to say what they’ll be before December 15th, but it’s pretty cool. On February 1st, the Premium Subscription features will come online. If we get enough interest from people, we will offer six month and twelve month premium subscriptions (obviously with a discount for subscribing long-term) along with month to month premium subscriptions. We’re aware that some people may not be able to sign up for premium service for various reasons. They get paid and I am sure they get paid well since they apparently have no other employees. Why is this? How long has this been going on? How is it that tribe's TOU harrassed and eliminated all abusers of the TOU yet for the low price of $5 they can come back and post porn now? What kind of practice is this? I caanot believe it, but I ain't knockin' it. It is 6:25 PM on November 3rd and it's 70 degress in the Richmond, peeples! On Halloween G and I cruised over to 6th and irving to what we thought would be a lil rinky dink haunted house. When we got there ther line was around the corner and building! This fella let us know it was a 45 minute wait and that it was really scary inside, but yet suitable for families (huh?). We decided against hanging out for 45 minutes, but out front was someone making pink cottoncandy! Yummy! I hope you had a great Hollaween! A wonderful man passed last night

Greg's Grandpa, Lloyd passed away last night. Apparently right around the time I went to bed. I had a shitty night's rest. 2007 has been a rough year for our family. We loved him fiercely. Greg and I took care of him together on our days off. No matter how sad this made us we spent precious precious time with him. He wove in and out of dementia telling us great stories of his life, things none of us had heard before. To look him in the eye and tell him I loved him made me feel so good. I hope he knew how I felt about him. How lucky I was to have him. The last time I saw him was Father's Day of this year. I am so glad I bought my camera as I had been thinking that none of us had taken any pictures of G-Pa during this time of his life. I think it may have scared us to see him declining in health, but I thought how beautiful it was as well. Ooops, the pics seem to be stored in places unbeknownst to me right now....stay tuned RIP Lloyd, you are loved and we know you are with Eileen (his first wife and Greg's G-Ma) now. I can see you two holding hands :)
