From now until 1/1/2009 you can drink from Downtown all the way through Hollywood into the Valley and not have to drive your car. The Red Line will be running until 3 AM in hopes of keeping party goers off the road and out of a jail or a hospital. Although not much of a drinker as of late I caught up with this fun crew at Union Station and continued on to Hollywood where we went to The White Horse and The Frolic Room. Above is a picture of me that ended up on Los Angeles Metromix. Spread the word about the Red Line, save your friends from a DUI or worse. Maybe we can convince the city that keeping the subway open until 3AM is going to save lives but this will only work if we spread the word. My 2 Cents, Corinne P.S. Below is the article from Metromix. From Los Angeles Metromix by Alexandra Le Tellier The Metro Red Line makes barhopping from Downtown to NoHo (and vice versa) easier than hailing a cab, so we’ve created the ideal RL pub crawl. Be sure to buy a Day Pass for $5 so you can hop aboard as often as you like. Even better, the train, which normally stops service at 1 a.m., will run until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays during the holiday season beginning November 22. Come January 1, however, it's back to calling it a night before bartenders have even thought about flicking on the lights for last call. Start at Union Station. You can get liquored up at Traxx, an art deco gem inside the station that speaks to the days when train travel was glam. Hop on the Metro and make your way to the pirate-themed Redwood Bar & Grill, just a .2-mile walk from the Civic Center stop. Next stop is the swanky Gallery Bar inside the Biltmore Hotel, another .2-mile jaunt, this time from the Pershing Square station. Downtown barhopping wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Seven Grand, where the bartenders wear ties and serve classic cocktails. It’s about two blocks from the 7th Street Metro Center. From Downtown, cruise on the subway a bit until you hit Santa Monica/Vermont. Get off and head east .3 mile to Little Temple, where you can get in on one of the best hip-hop parties in L.A. Then head up to Vermont/Sunset. A two-to-four-minute walk from the subway will land you at the Chinese-themed Good Luck Bar for sweet cocktails and even sweeter bartenders. Now it’s off to Blu Monkey for some soulful electronica in East Hollywood. The best part? It’s just 276 feet from the Hollywood/Western stop. Head over to Hollywood/Vine and take your pick: Cinespace, S Bar and Frolic Room are all within a block of the Metro. Next on the Red is the Hollywood/Highland stop on Hollywood Boulevard, where it seems every other venue is a nightlife destination, including The Highlands dance club just upstairs. (P.S. Did you know the musical notes along the stairway walls are to the song “Hooray for Hollywood”?) Back on subway, we pass by Universal Studios (too many tourists) and head straight to NoHo, the last stop on the line, for the chic yet unassuming Skinny’s. It’s a 12-minute walk from the subway to the bar, but come this time of night you might appreciate the time to sober up. From Nov. 21 to Dec. 27, if you show your Metro card at Downtown establishments Seven Grand, Golden Gopher, Broadway Bar or the upcoming restaurant Cole's, they will provide a $1 off cocktails. Yipee!
Ok folks, most of you know me as a happy camper. I'm upbeat, bright and cheerful-for the most part. But there is no faking it anymore, I just can't seem to keep the facade up. I just got back from the Burning Man Festival in Nevada where everyone seemed to have the time of their life, everyone except me. I feel that I somehow missed out on the punch line of the joke. I prepared for months, I spent a shit load of money and I was planning on having a great time as well. But I had far from a great time, I was absolutely miserable! At one point I lost the will to live-twice! Sometimes I faked having a great time but it was just that being fake. I'm all about being authentic so to to pretend I was enjoying myself wasn't only a lie to all of you who were there it was a big fat fib to myself. I really wished I could have gotten the joke, that I could have genuinely been laughing along with you but alas that simply wasn't the case. So now I'm out a lot of money, I missed a grand opportunity in the film business and now I'm back in LA feeling empty trying to decide how to pay off this excursion to the desert that wasn't all I had even remotely hoped it to be. I have been severely depressed for about two days. I highly doubt that I will ever make the trek out to BRC ever again, even in the cool comfort of an RV. I loved Lightning in a Bottle, maybe you''ll see me at Alma or Decompression. Burning Man? I think not! Between the port a potties and the wind storms from HELL I think I'll pass. And as much as I love Burners and find this lot the kindest most respectful crew I've come across in this lifetime the Burn attracts non-burners if you know what I mean. I had a horrible experience on Wednesday night. My defenses were down because I was sooo trusting. So when a Burner (I thought) came to give me a hug and then assualted me I was in shock!!! In the default world I think I would have handled the situation better but I had been drinking and I was by myself for just a couple of minutes when this happened BTW! He grabbed me started biting and licking my neck would not let me go while saying the most disgusting things ever. I finally got the guy off of me but it brought up a lot of stuff and trust issues. I no longer felt safe at the Burn and that feeling never went away. It was beyond disturbing and I thought the Burn would be the one place I could be safe and I wasn't. It really makes me nervous what could have happened if there had not been people around but what disturbed me even more is that no one came to my rescue even though I was clearly in distress. So the Burn? Never, never again. I really wished I could even have a glimpse of why the rest of you enjoy it, I really do.

So I'm getting ready for this little camping trip in the desert and just when I think I have everything I need some one pops up and asks, "Well, do you have a bike basket? Did you get a solar shower?" And then I'm like crap, I have to go out and drive somewhere and cross my fingers they have what I'm looking for. Sometimes they don't have what I need so I end up going to three other places to find it. On the bright side it will be sooo much easier to go to the Burn next year. I have the basket, now I'm getting into the car in a minute going to Sports Authority or maybe Target and getting a solar shower. I also have to go to this other place and pick up some poi for me and a friend. Damn, there's a lot of stuff!

On another note my cousin is coming into town today. Imagine me but about 6 foot tall-not kidding. For those of you that know me I'm kind of a munchkin. Anyway, she's a vegetarian and I want to take her to some really good veg restaurants. I'm taking her to Rahel's in Little Etbipoia and to Real Food Daily in Santa Monica, any other ideas? I'd love to go out for some awesome Indian food or Thai (we don't have that in The Ozarks where I'm from). Let me know where you all love to eat your wonderful vegetarian meals. Anyway, time to get driving and this time get the very last thing I need for the Playa-until one of you asks me did you get....... Just don't tell me, I have enough to survive, just let me borrow the damn thing and I promise I'll have it for next year.
This will be my first year to go to Burning Man.

My question is what do you wear? And where do you find said clothing because I hate driving around this city hoping to find something. I want to find a Kimono and a Sari anyone know where? What do you eat? What's your favorite food, drink or any other item you couldn't live without on the Playa? I have a ticket, a tent, an air mattress (and a pump), a sleeping bag, a water mister, a lantern, a chair, a camelback, a bunch of blinky toys and I'm going! Problem, I still don't have a ride and I have no idea what to wear! I'm on a fast for the next few days so worst case scenario I'll just buy some pasties and go nude. I know that's not original on the Playa but it sure beats driving around town looking for costumes. I'm starting to think people go nude at Burning Man because putting together outfits can be a real pain in the ass so how about not covering it or anything else for that matter. Any advice on affordable, awesome places to put together Playa wear would be most appreciated. Seriously, what is your favorite foods to bring to the Playa? I'm bringing Tasty Bites (Indian Food), Trader Joe's rice packets that can be boiled or heated in the sun, applesauce, Lara vegan raw food bars, pecans, apples, cucumbers, stuffed grape leaves in a can and packets of Tuna. All advice welcome. And if you have an RV and need riders to help pay for gas I'm petite, adorable and I smell nice. XOXO, Corinne
