In the United States alone, we go through 2 billion CDs a year. Between thinking about EnviroWoman's pledge (plasticfree.blogspot.com) to live plastic free for a year and my boggling over the number of CDs I had lying around that were essentially coasters (discs that I had burned data onto & only needed for a couple of uses, AOL trial promo CDs, etc.), I wondered if there were some way to recycle CDs other than using them in various craft proje... read more

That kind of news makes me very proud to live out here and that sort of thinking among the local government officials is part of why I chose to live here in the first place. However I was slightly less elated when I discovered that they're trying to replace the petroleum-based bags with "biodegradable" plastic bags in... read more
