tanuki no yume (racoon dreams)

danny boyle's 'sunshine' us release on 7/20/07!

i have been waiting for this movie for almost 2 years!

this hardcore scifi film from danny boyle features his signature twists and what I think of as his UK inspired style of magical realism and innovative cinematography and plot/character approach. synopsis - 50 years from now, the sun is dying (big bang leftovers, well researched) and seven astronauts are attempting a likely one-way journey to the sun to drop a dark matter bomb... more like 'das boot' than 'the core'... extreme tension and reality twisting, etc... a tragic decision is made and things get worse, then stranger and scary...

please check out my sunshine fan blog for more info on the movie, trailer and other movie site links:

here is info on US release dates courtesy of the sunshine fan online site (thanks!):

"Fresh from the people at Fox Searchlight: SUNSHINE will open in six cities on 7/20 (LA, NY, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Toronto). It will open everywhere else on 7/27. Sadness.

According to SunshineDNA, there are still 4 behind-the-scenes web videos that haven’t been released online yet. They are called The Voice of Icarus, Monitor Screens, Bumps and Stunts, and Love Letters. The names to the videos may change, though. Regardless of their names, the web videos are about Chip Chung who does the voice of Icarus, graphic designer Anita Dhillon, stunts and another one about the set dresser who hid something very special in Harvey’s room."

I am planning on buying up to a dozen (or many more depending on feedback) tickets for the first screening in SF - any tribesters interested in a movie night? for those scifi lovers who need something more nourishing after fighting robots and alien surfers?

oh - for reference - danny boyle directed trainspotting, 28 days later, the beach, millions... all good films ;)
