November's journey is inspired by Hawaiian Huna's traditional principles of raising Mana (life force energy / Spirit) for healing and manifestation. According to ancient Hawaiian custom, prayers were first charged by raising Mana with breath, movement, and intent. It was understood that without sufficient Mana, prayers could not be made manifest.

Information about the evening:
Earth Prayers draws upon tribal earth-based traditions of rhythm, chant, & dance...and ancient to modern healing ecstatic dance practices. This work welcomes people from all walks of life and all ages, from teens to adults to elders.
We will use tribal movements to raise energy in our bodies. Rhythm is our anchor and the spirit horse that we ride. When our bodies heat up enough to sweat, the energy matrix swirls and moves - engages - there is the opportunity to re-set the field. All the rivers of flowing life force (mana) clean and clear out old debris and open the channel to the Universal Life Force Energy that heals, enlivens, and manifests our dreams, inspirations, and visions.
Dear Earth Prayers Dancers - This is an ongoing event and we invite you to tune in!
In August we connected with our oneness with Earth's body and mind, in September we 'flew' with the energy and sent our prayers out to the 7 directions with ecstatic song, in October we brought in Afro Latin and Australian Tribal song, crystals activating the space, embodying the elements, and intention setting, aligning our purpose with Earth. This month and coming Sunday, Nov 25, we will connect with body, tribe, and the complete system we are a part of: Earth & Cosmos, as we raise our energies and manifest our prayers.

About dance facilitator Navaro
Navaro Franco has been facilitating Ecstatic Trance Dance for the past 7 years. After 3 years of study at Emily Carr College of Art in Interdisciplinary Arts, she immersed herself for 17 years in Afro, Tribal, and Ecstatic Drum and Dance, studying, performing and teaching. Navaro is a lifetime student of healing arts, including Crystal Work, Mandalas, and Energy Healing. She has studied dance and drumming in Africa, and has taught thousands of people in festivals, retreat centers, privately run classes & workshops, corporate settings, and public & private schools. She is currently a founding member of all female quartet DivaDrum, and co-directs Urban Ethnic Rhythm ensemble Drum Prayers with Pepe Danza. Navaro's work encompasses the sacred and the celebratory, creating healing spaces for community with dance and music. She holds weekly and monthly drum and ecstatic dance space with RHYTHM MAPS Drum Classes, and EARTH PRAYERS Ecstatic Dance Journeys.

About guest DJ Pepe Danza:
Joseph “Pepe” Danza is an electrifying percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, teacher and composer. He has been a major force in World Music for many years. A native of Montevideo, Uruguay, he graduated from the National Academy of Music there. He has spent his life playing music, and has travelled the world studying, performing, and teaching. He spent many years in Asia studying and practicing spiritual disciplines, as well as music. Pepe was one of the Artistic Directors of the West Coast Sacred Music Festival for four years. He is at the top of his field in Vancouver as a drummer and multi-instrumentalist, and works as a performer, teacher, bandleader and recording artist. He has also produced albums for local artists. Pepe has been nominated for countless awards as a performer and composer, including Musician of the Year (West Coast Music Awards), Juno for his work with Asza, Leo Awards for his film music, and Jessie Awards for his theater scores.
Currently Pepe is leading Ocean Of Sound Healing Journeys, and currently plays with Tambura Rasa, and Jazz Funk Machine, Soulstream, among many other top Vancouver bands. JOURNEYS is Pepe's debut as a DJ. He will be sharing for the first time some of his rare and extensive collection of Afro-Spiritual Grooves with techno beats and live instrument accompaniment.

about me
an earth child who finds her sacred rythm in dance and connection to ancient wisdom; the world is my community; i am living in vancouver in an amazingly loving home finishing my MSc degree in revitalising traditional plant wisdom and building academic capacity with a First Nations band in the Fraser Canyon. My roots are German and Indonesian. My childhood memories are mostly from Germany and travelling in abundance with my gypsy parents. I was raised in the home my great, great grand parents started building many years ago, and lived with my mom, dad, sister, aunt, uncle, grandparents and great-grandmother in a small rural town just outside of Frankfurt. There I learned about running through fields, getting fresh milk in the morning, an abundance of childhood adventures and about growing up among healers with great love and responsibilities. At the dawn of youth my family moved to Canada and the sunny Okanagan where I deeply connected with the land and the wisdom people of turtle island have been holding sacred since time immemorial. Since then my spirit journey has deepened considerably. My spirit mother Little Eagle took me under her wing and guided me on this journey honouring a sacred connected path to ancient traditions. My calling is to healing and resonate with beauty and connection. For 7 years I have been at university. My chosen path learning about and from great teachers in medicine - plants. This year I'm hoping to finish my degree in ethnobotany and then journey as my heart and mind lead me ... first to Indonesia to connect with my roots there. I'm excited about life. Have deep gratitude for the gifts and experiences that have greeted me this time around. And I look forward to many more amazing moments!
