<a href="http://people.tribe.net/sprocketrocket/blog/216d3ff7-c31b-4f98-bc5c-b04c7a733920">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/540/0b9/5400b998-4919-470d-947f-faaed913c1b7.thumb" width="65" height="32" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>My new sticker is here.
ALOHA AINA - Malama Pono
Love the Land. - Nurture her in the right(eous) way.

Even before i moved to Hawaii over eight years ago I envisioned being part of a community called Loveland. Aloha Aina is a ubiquitous concept in the Hawaiian culture and one that I happily respect and promote.

In order fully to appreciate Hawaiian culture, one must first understand its basic difference from western culture and eastern culture. Western culture is based, in large part, on what a person possesses. Eastern culture is based more on the person and one's desire to learn more about oneself. Hawaiian culture, however, like most Polynesian cultures, is based on the land.

The Kanaka Maoli (indigenous natives), are one with the land. The land which is the basis of the culture, with its streams, mountains, beaches and oceans, must be held in reverence and protected as it was in ancient times... The historical sites, burials, language, arts, dances, canoe migrations, etc., will have to be promoted, nurtured and preserved.

Native Hawaiian say, "We are at home. So many people who come here seem lost and emotionally or spiritually homeless. They keep moving, but they never really live anywhere. We love being in our place in the sea. We will never leave because we are this place"

This concept of totality with the land and with nature is essential to any understanding of Hawaiian culture and beliefs. Without an appreciation for this concept one cannot begin to understand the marvels of this unique and wonderful culture. Love of the land is at the heart of all Hawaiian customs, language, the hula, chants, mele (songs), popular music, art, history, geography, archeology, traditions, religion, and even politics. In short, we are discussing the intellectual and artistic achievements of this society.

Also, however, one cannot ignore the fact that Hawaiian culture is more than just the culture of the native Hawaiians, as significant as that culture is. The Hawaiian culture of today has been and continues to be influenced greatly by others who have come to these islands and have settled over the last two centuries. These immigrants - from England, the United States, Japan, China, the Philippines, and countless other places (Germany) - have also had a profound effect on Hawaiian culture, and together with the Kanaka Maoli, make up the people of Hawaii today.

The native Hawaiians live with a sense of aloha. The word "aloha" consists of two parts. "Alo" means to share and "ha" means to breathe. Aloha means to share breath, and more precisely to share the breath of life.

										<div>and extremely grateful for life, love and the pursuit of happiness. oh my. i devoured my first home grown avocado for breakfast. it's yummy and gratifying to eat the fruits of your labor and grow food with heart and soul. a lovely colony of bees showed up after we cut the cinnamon tree in the back. i found them clustered on a branch of the hapu'u fern. the branch was leaning to the ground from the weight of all the thousands of bees huddled around their queen. i fixed up a spare hive body with some frames and cut a floor and a roof for it. it's been raining so when i invited the colony into the hive they were happy to go in and love their new home. i'm happy for them and appreciate their presence and sweet nectar. life is good.

    </a>
										<div>i have not been much online and been focusing on the realationships in my immediate world, the casita and my jungle garden. i'm growing lettuce, chard, basil and beets. also lot's of herbs and peppers. it's been raining lots and the tomatoes don't like it. the chickens are laying lot's now that they're in their new pen. i'm cutting the cinnamon tree back to improve the light and avoid possible tree trouble with the new neighbors which are very nice. i discarded my television set. not that i've watched much, but even that was too much considering the quality or lack thereof of whats on the tube these days. too many way more better things to do in life. did you know that the average american watches 12 1/2 years of television in their life time?

to celebrate our lasting union i surprised birgit with a night at the waikoloa hilton and a couple of tickets to the journey show. nothing like some good old ballad rock under the tropical moon. we had a big island road trip camping adventure which took us from hawi down to ho'okena to punalu'u once around the island. happiness in paradise. along the way i opened a few more outlets for big island love stickers on the west side. conscious riddims records in kailua, the kona coffee and tea company and the new island naturals in kainaliu which is a great store. i have 21 active sticker outlets and the first off-island account (mana foods in paia maui) is doing very well. i'm on to something here. what's next? big island love sticker at the ABC stores? the sky is the limit when you're dealing in love.

life is good. love is true. laughter is golden.

and if the world ends tomorrow plant an apple tree today.

in joy.

										<div>i'm happy to report the patient is alive and feeling very well.

HEMF6 was stellar. it's truly amazing how much fun and silliness you can have in four days. everything went down smooth thanks to german precision planing and the help of a fabulous crew. this gives you an idea how well things went: i have an inexpensive cell phone plan with 100 minutes and i still had minutes to spare. puna council woman emily naeole was dancing all night at pahoa village cafe which cracks me up and really touches me. the place was alive. there was no pilikia (trouble) and only smiling faces which always makes me very happy. the kona leg was a beautiful clear outdoor night with awesome talent incl. sassmouth, bluetech and Unit:E. the palace nite was epic and super fun. once again an amazing group of artists, performers and supporters pulled off a memorable party.

i'm enjoying not having a big event lurking over me for a change. in addition i announced my retirement from ecstatic dance active stewardship duty. my last day will be march 8th. i really appreciate the ecstatic experience and am honored to be part of it's evolution.

now i'm looking forward to deepen my relationship and friendships and let my heart drift down the river of love. there'll undoubtedly be some wicked rapids to navigate, though i'm truly excited about the ride and getting wet along the journey is just part of the fun.

										<div>i've been laying low with ice cubes on my balls for the past 48 hours. i just had the vasectomy i'd been contemplating for a few years. the idea of fatherhood scares me to death. nothing romantic coming up for me. makes me wanna go aaaaahhhhhhh.

don't get me wrong, i love kids. i just don't need my own to be a fulfilled and happy person. birgit is supportive of my decision though she doesn't share the same resentments i had about parenthood and taking charge of my own destiny.

it's not without a big breath that i'm opening myself up to the ride and commit myself to this new reality. a breath that summons my strength and my experience and let's me have faith in myself and this love i cherish. i know i can do it. i am ready for this step and am raising the banner of love to charge ahead full steam.

    </a>
										<div>i earned some brownie points today. birgit and i were just getting up this morning when we heard a faint voice yelling "help, somebody help me, please help." we both stopped in our tracks and listened up for more of that voice wondering what was going on. a woman was yelling from the top of her lungs "help, birgit please help me". birgit looks at me in shock and says it's Q, her neighbor from next door, a lady we often notice, but hardly ever interact with, she in the process of finishing the cabin she just built next to birgits property. i immediately throw my little bikini briefs on which wasn't easy because they kept twisting around and not going in the right direction while the lady is screaming out like she's just seen the devil himself. i finally race out to look after her. first out of birgits lot then next door and back in through 6 yapping little mini dogs to the cabin which the distressed voice came from. what could possibly make her scream so much to be in such agony? like serious shit was going down and i had no idea what to expect. for a fraction of a moment i envisioned a lot of blood and didn't like that idea so i just hopped for the best. i finally race up the stairs to her cabin and see her pinned backwards against the edge of a bed by about ten 4x8 sheets of sheetrock which had fallen over on top of her and were pushing against her chest and legs. she was pinned down like in one of those earthquake movies where you just can't get out. like a roach being squooshed. so here is me, in my skimpy undies pushing up ten heavy sheets of sheetrock like i've never pushed anything in my life and the sheets came up and i pushed them back against the wall again. she had a wicked bruise on her knee and was pretty shook up, but otherwise ok. we stayed with her for a couple of minutes to make sure she was ok and then went back to the house and went on with getting-up duties and both just went, wow, did that just happen? good thing we were there because she could have yelled for a long time without anybody hearing her. watch out for handling heavy stuff. </div>

    </a>
										<div>i just bottled the kombucha that i inoculated TWO MONTHS ago. it's got some crazy sizzle to it. wow. the black is pretty acidic but drinkable whereas the green kombucha is awesome. very potent and flavorful. and stronger medicinal properties. i started the next four gallon batch and experiment with different teas and times. i'm filling these bottles higher up the neck to make a smaller scoby. the two month old black tea scobys were giant globs and didn't want to fit through the bottle neck. i ended up cutting them in half and pulled them out with a fork. certainly not a gentle treatment. i have a feeling they're pretty hardy cultures though. the green tea scobys were nice and thin and slipped right out of the bottle. beautiful slimy cultures making yummy healthy carbonated beverages right at home. does it get any better?

i just love saying that word s-c-o-b-y.

are you getting excited about friday?

fireworks and turkey frys and folks celebrating and dancin' in circles everywhere. that's my kind of country.

good thing i made it back over here before the european soccer final where my homies got crushed by spain. and now their heads are hanging low in shame. i was torn about going to ecstatic dance or watching the game. i'm glad i went dancing. it was a ton of fun. i connected with many old friends and made some new ones. blair and arno were there which was good. i loved watching the two dance and play together. not a trace of jealousy in my head, which is good. a nice group of us had piknik at the ocean afterwards. one big happy family. amazing how that works. blair is moving to idaho next thurdsay. i'm going to miss her and quiche but am very excited about the new chapter in our lives. beautiful transformations, full of love and compassion.

my two weeks in california were filled with epic moments and deep heart connections. i had a great time. i'm so grateful for my life and all the colorful people in it. you give me love, fire and inspiration and i adore you for that.

moontribe was a beautiful moment in time in the sierra nevadas, not far from mammoth on some romote campground with lot's of trees and an ice cold creek running through it. i put my tent right next to the creek and it was dope. slept like a baby when the turbo sound system (huge) was bumping all nite. the music was a bit too hard for my mood. very LA. boom boom boom. i'd get up at the crack of dawn and go dance into the morning. my favorite time of the day. oh and then there was this beautiful stilt dancer...

ah - life.

gotta go.

										<div>vincent and i went to the watergate last nite. the club is right on the river overlooking an ancient beautiful bridge that was featured in run lola run. the view is absolutely stunning. this hot dj/producer ellen alien had her record release party there. we arrived at two and there was a huge crowd at the door. ellen had put us on the guest list which was sweet. i spent most of the night at the waterlevel stage because you could see the twilight come up. the upstairs main floor was crowded, loud and dark because they close these thick black curtains when the first light comes up over the river around four am. ellen got on at 3:30 and played until 6:30. i also enjoyed sascha funke and hector playing some wicked techhouse downstairs and i finally got out of there at 7:30. it was a clear beautiful morning as i rode back and stopped at a falafel place for breakfast. i love berlin. you can eat, drink and party whenever you want.

the senate of berlin declared today a (voluntary) car free sunday and the german bike association ADFA organized the annual berlin city wide bike ride with two hundred fifty THOUSAND bikes coming together for one giant ride through berlin. the police closed many streets and two sections of autobahn for the ride. it was stunning. i had tears in my eyes. i went straight to the final destination at the brandenburg gate (since i was running a bit late due to above mentioned late night/morning party business) and then rode backwards along this never ending stream of riders heading my way for miles, old, young, plain and colorful, some on beautiful decorated bikes, many with children. the police was super supportive and there really weren't many cars driving around town period. everybody was riding bikes or bbqing and playing in the parks. just beautiful. i bought a nice green hemp shirt with a zipper down in the middle and two zippered pockets. i'm such a hempetarian now. a lovely german lady named kali makes them in leipzig, former east germany. i dig it. kali means cannabis in rasta and is also the wife of shiva in hindi. she represents the time of change and the ultimate reality and divinity itself. hemp truly is a divine plant isn't it?</div>

										<div>berlin is full of life. it's summer in the city. everybody is outside in cafes and restaurants and in the parks and on the lakes and along the rivers and canals of which there are many. riding bikes and rolling around blissed out i'm rolling around with them which is lot's of fun. i'm going to see/hear ellen alien tonight at the watergate club right next to the oberbaumbrücke. if you saw run lola run there's a wonderful scene where franka potente runs along the river under a big beautiful old bridge that used to be borded up during the days of the berlin wall. how things have changed here. that's where i'm going dancing tonight. yippers.

there are two thing i want to share while i'm at the computer. first is the drawing above i found when doing some research on ornithology. isn't it amazing? the drawing is from 1555. the second is this interview i found with bjørk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-dFRFsQKGQ&amp;feature=related
she's on a popular german late night talk show modelled after the letterman show (letterman is much better). please watch it if you get a chance. check out her outfit. she's so adorable and i like her points of view very much.

adios.

    </a>
										<div>"At speeds up to 300 km/h the ICE takes you to your destination quickly and safely, offering best comfort. With a wide range of service offers and modern, comfortable interior, travelling with ICE becomes a real pleasure."

greetings from the german bullet train ICE (intercity express). i'm traveling very fast from karlsruhe in southern germany to the capital berlin where i spent my university years when the wall was still intact around the city and the cold war was still seperating germany. a lot has happened for this country and myself in the past twenty years and i'm very excited to see the progress my home country and i have made. i've spent the past ten days with my mother catching up and helping her with a few remodel projects at her new apartment. we spent a lot of time smoking cigarettes and drinking beer on her little balcony discussing live, love and the pursuit of happiness. it has not been an easy task but i'm very pleased to have had the patience and desire to be with her and give her some of my insights and my experiences on politics, relationships, the war on drugs, culture, family &amp; society etc. we had originally planned a trip to austria to see a folk musician, but i was getting impatient and had to move on to berlin. germany is such an interesting country. you're allowed to drive as fast as your car can go (on the autobahn), yet bicycles have the right of way (they're not riding on the autobahn though). there are bike paths in the city everywhere and drivers really do pay attention to bikes and pedestrians. it's fabulous. everybody rides bikes, little kids, old people, parents with kid trailers etc. with the cost of benzin (what they call gasoline here) it's a really smart move. yey for bikes. i was helping my mom renovate during the day, drank beer and lot's of coffee and then took off to explore the nightlife in the evening. it doesn't get dark now until 10 pm and some clubs don't open until midnite and stay open until the sun comes up. i went to rock bars, gay bars and hip night clubs all over town. it's been very fun and super entertaining and i heard all kinds of music and invited some nice people to come visit hawaii. on my last night i visited the most beautiful dance club called the Mood Lounge www.mood-lounge.de. it was like a hip dance club of the 1960 in london with very cool furniture and artwork just the way i love it. i kept waiting for austin powers to come through the door and yell 'groovy baby'. i made friends with the club owner shahrokh and the bartender franziska. shahrokh spun groovy deep house and minimal tracks and i danced hard.

to my horror when i woke up the next morning to catch my train to berlin i noticed that i had lost the pack with my euros, credit cards, passport, greencard &amp; plane tickets. aaaaaahhhhhhh, that was not a good feeling. mind you i never loose anything, i'm way too organized for that to happen. i tried to figure out where i might have lost it or if somebody stole it out of my backpack. however i didn't think it was stolen and that i must have dropped it at the club when i left earlier that morning. the place was closed until the next weekend and there was no answer on the phone. i hoped that if they found it they would remember that nice german boy from hawaii and safe keep it for me.

my train is now whizzing through landscapes full of lush fields and cattle pastures. i love traveling by train. it makes me really happy.

but let me finish my story.

so i was pretty freaked out to loose everything i needed for my trip the night before at a dance club. duh.

i ended up going by the club and to my joy there was a note on the door with my name and a phone # to call. my heart made a huge jump of relief and i knew things were alright. however i couldn't get a hold of anybody at that number all day and all evening and i missed my train to berlin which wasn't a big deal. i sat on the balcony with mom for more beers and cigarettes (those germans and their nicotine habits). by eleven at night i started getting impatient and checked the note again and noticed that i had misread the (poorly jotted) number by one digit and after i called the correct number the bartend told me that they found my pack which had indeed fallen out of my backpack when i put on my jacket. YEY. all is good. i learned a big lesson to be more careful and not take all my shit with me when i go dance at night and i'm en route to berlin to continue my journey.

good karma - happy sprocket

										<div>last night i had the uberdistinct honor and pleasure to see, hear &amp; meet the divine Sheila Chandra at the global sound conference in marina del rey. what a heartwarming experience, full of grace, heart and soul. she rarely performs in public and i feel blessed to encounter her in such an intimate and conscious setting. i was sitting on the floor just in front of her with my eyes closed soaking in her beautiful voice and shining presence. sheila performs solo accompanied by drones, harmonic overtones that are pre-recorded. i've had one of her recordings (roots &amp; wings) for a few years but i now have a much deeper appreciation of her music and talent. i have so much gratitude for my life and the beauty it brings to me every day. how does this stuff happen? i'm putting out the good vibes and its bouncing right back at me wherever i go. staying at aden's erotic porn warehouse in venice has been so much fun. i'm getting to know the other neighbor artists, painters, metal workers and a talented and charming ceramic artist right next to us. this morning a giant shipment with five pallets of boxes full of raunchy calendars was delivered. i'm helping unload and sort and ship the order while i'm here and enjoy being able to contribute. lot's of giant black cocks and euro boys in revealing poses. i bought lights for the bicycle so i won't get in trouble with the popo again. those silly cops. i met a very interesting german burner about my age at the cafe i'm hanging out. he flies his small plane to the playa so i might finally get to see black rock city from the sky after all these years. life is good and full of surprises. i'm embracing the world with an open heart and a smile on my face and i feel in awe about the power of love. </div>

    </a>
										<div>greetings from the land of nuts and fruit. i had the most interesting 24 hours in los angeles. my lost luggage finally made it back to me safely after two days MIA between honolulu and LA. the four jars of homemade honey i had packed are all intact which makes me very happy. i visited with my dear friend maggie who lives just up from the warehouse i'm staying in venice beach. we went to a lovely housewarming party in belair at a fancy house overlooking the valley. it was just what you'd expect from a hollywood type shindig, all sorts of movie peeps, writers, photographers, producers etc. a very interesting and attractive bunch. i handed out some LOVE stickers and was invited to put on a party in tahiti by one of the head honchos at MGM. i always wanted to go to tahiti. i ended up going to a cool dance party late last night. i was riding aden's white cruiser bicycle up washington blvd around 1:00 am when i got pulled over by two culver city cop cars.

cops: "do you know why we pulled you over?"

me: "NO"

cops: "because you don't have any lights on your bike."

me: WTF?

cops: "have you ever been arrested?"

me: "NO"

cops: have you taken any illegal drugs?

me: "hell no"

they: do you have any illegal substances on you?

me: NO

they didn't believe me and proceeded to search and interrogate me thoroughly under the bright spot lights, my legs spread, hands behind my back. they were so ready to book me.

cops: "take your gloves off and turn them inside out. take your shoes and socks off and show me the soles of your feet. where do you live? where are you going? GERMANY? what are you doing in los angeles on a bicycle? what are you doing in hawaii? how do you make a living? why do you have a green card? did you steal this bike? what are you doing riding a bike through culver city at one in the morning? are you sure you didn't take any illegal substances - DON'T LIE TO ME NOW (puts maglite right in my eyes to check pupils and tries to freak me out). did you take any cocaine? heroine? crystal meth?

i was calm and as clean as a whistle and they just couldn't believe my story. a german guy on the way to visit his mom was too much for them. they thought they heard it all and they seriously thought i was a drug dealer or i don't know wha. COCKSUCKERS. they pulled out all my stuff from my backpack and threw it on the ground, ran my ID and REALLY wanted to arrest me. ASSHOLES.

they finally gave up &amp; let me go and i collected my things and i headed one block further up to this underground psychedelic party i spent all nite relieved that i wasn't in jail. i met some very cool people, musicians, artists, freaks and heard great music and danced my ass off. i started riding back to my place after the sun came up and i stopped for a cup of coffee at my favorite cafe where i met a strange beautiful homeless girl who's been living on the beach/street for the past four months. we sat there for an hour and talked, then went for a walk. she was really hungry and i offered to buy her breakfast at a fancy restaurant we passed. she ordered two side orders of bacon, one crispy, one half done, a side of spinach, one glass of orange juice, one glass of red wine and a slice of white toast. it was such an interesting scene. she ended up gobbling down the wine in one hand the orange juice in the other and ate the food like a stray cat with her fingers. did i mention it was a fancy place? after i refused to buy her another glass of wine she got up and left and was gone. it is one of the most interesting mornings of my life i must say. her dad is a criminal, her mom a complete mess and the poor thing is pretty lost in our world. i felt kinda confused yet at the same time happy that i spent some time with her and filled her tummy. i wish her all the best and hope she'll be ok. i'm grateful i don't live on the street and my parents and friends love me. it's now 11 am and i'm tired but don't feel like going to sleep. i'm a little worried about her and know there's nothing else i can do for her. or is there? it's a strange world we live in. so much affluence and so much poverty and social injustice.

happy mothers day. please do something good for a stranger. i love you all.

										<div>i got to hang a big lei around the neon of our old theater today. this thing is HUGE and long and pretty dusty from last year and just getting it out of the narrow storrage space was an ordeal. i slowly wound it though our office and through the window out to the slanted metal roof. then i was hanging there like a monkey tieing down a giant plastic lei with one hand while hanging onto a rickidy old ladder with my other. pretty funny stuff &amp; the joys of board membership.

master cleanse

<div>i decided to do a 7 day master cleanse starting this sunday (full moon in scorpio). this will be my first real voluntary fast and i really look forward to the experience. mind you, i'm a sugar, dairy &amp; caffeine junkie and i love to eat everything. it's a bit scary to know that i'm going to deprive my body of all the food that i usually consume. good thing my partner blair is doing it with me and helping me understand what it's all about. detoxifying my system and gaining important knowledge about myself and the stuff i put in me. thank you blair. i appreciate your support and your insight and the fact that you let me take this step. we made a detailed menu list for the week and that alone makes me really hungry. boy o boy. a few days of grains &amp; greens, juices, broth, lot's of hemp. then just juice and water and psyllium husk, bentonite after getting up and before going to bed. coffee enema every other day. it sounds gruesome, but i'll try and keep you posted. at the end of the week i'll be playing ecstatic dance if i'm still functioning.

King Corn

<div>I saw this shocking and very entertaining documentary on PBS the other night. King Corn about the craziness of our corn/food industry and how our planet, health and society are suffering. http://www.kingcorn.net/

I had a feeling there was a problem with corn and all the high fructose corn syrup, but I had no idea how big the problem really is.

Corn is everywhere—in everything from apples to antifreeze, body lotion to batteries, margarine to magazines. The story of corn’s ubiquity is a long one: a complex tale that begins more than 6,000 years ago in the dry valleys of Mesoamerica and continues on today in grocery store aisles—and the halls of Congress. Grown on every continent except Antarctica, planted on 93 million acres of United States land, and finding its way into nearly everything on the dinner table, the humble corn plant may just be the most influential crop that society has ever seen.

										<div>this is the view from my house this morning. the top of mauna kea (white mountain) is at 14.000 feet. it's a 42 mile drive from down here. the house is 420 feet above and two miles from the ocean. the small white dots on top left are the observatories. it still freaks me out when we have snow in hawaii and you can see all that beauty on a clear day. it's a good life. democratic caucus in hawaii tonight should bring record numbers. i saw one speech of michelle obama and one of hillary yesterday. i'd vote for michelle.</div>

										<div>my new sticker is at the printer as i'm writing this and i'm really excited about it. it was a year ago when this came to me during a magical night at the casita. i was endlessly grateful for my life and contemplating what more i could do to make the world a better place and spread the message of love. here it is. </div>
