( miscellaneous » music reviews ) "Excellent IDM & Eleectronic music, old & new, famous & obscure" From Orbital to Boards of Canada to M.I.A, this site has an excellent playlist. Days and days worth of music-- I rarely hear any repeats. They also provide convenient links to artists so you can find out more about each group.

At long last, Google has finally entered the Beta Phase for the Google Calendar. I haven't played with it yet. I've been looking for a good calendar app for a while. I've been using Yahoo Calendar for years, and it's too darn buggy with a cluttered interfaace. and I'm excited about this one. http://www.google.com/calendar Check out my [...]

The City of Berkeley used to have some crime maps on their website. They stopped updating the maps in 2003. The maps were input by hand, and it was a labor-intensive process. They Berkeley Police Department abandoned the Crime Maps in favor of the new Berkeley Police Bulletins system– however the documents are incredibly cryptic [...]

I’m working on a couple projects for Halloween. I like the spooky, ambient effects best, and I’m really not into anything gory — gore is totally overrated and overused during Halloween. Here are some of my ideas: Fireflies: I really like the effect of the Fireflies in Pirates of the Caribbean. They may not seem Halloweeny, but they [...]

Is that ‘cute’ as in speech or ‘cute’ as in beer? A Stefan Lasiewski original!!! This one struck me during a discussion on Slashdot, which I’ve been reading for close to 8 years now (wow!). The quote is a play on the Free Software analogy by the GNU foundation, where they discuss the odd dual-meanings of the word [...]

Trouble is, it only shows the latest posts from the Blogs hosted by Tribe. External Blog feeds don't show up, so those of us who have an external blog (like mine: flarg.blogspot.com/ ) don't show up!

I would really like the ability to have a single page that aggregates mutiple external blogs into my Tribe page.

Winamp is Dead: ( www.betanews.com/article/D...1100111204 )

I've been searching around for a lightweight digital music player which works on Windows.

I've been pretty happy with FooBar2000 ( www.foobar2000.org ). It does just about anything I need --- rip from CDs, organize my 4000-song Music Library, modify the tags for mutiple files at the same time, and there is NO DRM. It does what I want, in a simple interface. Advanced features are ... read more
