I had "one of those nights " last night . Just hanging out with friends enjoying great music , strong drinks , and thought provoking conversations... and then something clicked . I woke up this morning with The Doors "break on through" ringing in my head . I have 2 or 3 of these kinds of epiphany a year , and good things usually happen afterward . *fastens seatbelt* Here we go !

Tainted Love Round & Round - new order Bizarre Love Triangle weather it's in line at the grocery store , or at happy hour , people seem to start singing and doing the same kinda dance moves - like it's "high school musical " time or somin . Or maybe i'm the only one seeing this ? (please add on to the song list, I know there are others I can't think of at the moment .)

One year in the City .

I moved over from the Burbs , to the city a year ago this week . It's been awesome, and eye opening all at the same time . For most of my life, I've live in the Burbs . But my heart was always in the city ( my Mom thinks I got that mind set from my Dad, who was raised in NY) . I LOVE SEATTLE !!! I live in Lower Queen Anne, but I love the funky / freaky peeps the reside in Capital Hill ( I hope to move up there in a year or so ) . I still have "Oh my gawd, I live in the city " moments , which I hope never leaves me . I'm looking forward to seeing / exploring more of the city, and finding my niche ( doing something with music) . 2008 soooooooooooo gonna kick ass, just wait & see !! namste sJ

Van Halen Key Arena , Seattle Dec 3rd, 2007 Ok, just some thoughts, ramblings, & observation's on last night concert . I was "trying to find seats during 1st song guy" The Band took a page from the Stones , which is... 1. Have a cool looking stage/ lighting, sound , etc 2. Play the Hits 3. Play more Hits The guys put on a great show, I've been wanting to see them since 1982 when I 1st got turned on to them . But this wasn't the 1982 version of that band . At times, it come off like a bunch of old dudes trying to recapture something from there past . They sounded great , but at times the show felt like some "lounge lizard Las Vegas" type show . Yuck! We got all the trapping of a "old school Rock" show . A drum solo ( which went about 5 mins too long) , & the great Eddie VH guitar solo which was fucking awesome because he played "Cathedral" from the "Diver Down" album . Sweet! I'll give Wolfgang a pass . He did what he need to do which was good enough .The sound guys had him turned down in the mix ( yeah, my ears hear all of that stuff), and rightfully so . When the Band did * showcase* him ( during the beginning of "So this is love?") his playing sounded muddy, with missed notes . But I know, HE'S 16 , I get that . It was a fun 2 hours . At times it felt like I was 13 again, blasting VH from my bedroom . Other times during the show I felt old ( I'll turn 40 next year ) . I'm not sure why that is ,... I'm still sorting through my feeling on that one . Nevertheless , I'm glad I went . I don't have any desire to see them again if they stay a Band & tour . I'll close this chapter in my life, and feel good about it . Set list ( what I remember ) "Intro Jam" Runnin with the Devil Somebody get me a Doctor Atomic Punk Little Deamer Dance the night away Beautiful Girls And the cradle will rock Unchained Panama Pretty Woman So this is love Hot for teacher Jump and I can't remember the rest, but you get the idea . So I didn't go to the big camping trip this year . I really wanted too , but I felt I needed a year off after going the last 3 . I was busy that week , I had my kids !!! To add insult to injury , my PC went down on the 28th . I finally got back online yesterday . I just wanted to thank the handful of people who sent messages . I'm alive & well , thanks . I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you come Seacompression time , if not sooner . Club Re-bar on Sunday nights had become my new home to dance / party . I friend hip me to this place over the Winter , and now i go just about every Sunday night now . It's one of a few places I can just totally be me, without anyone giving me a weird look . Donte Parks wrote about the club in the "Stranger" last week saying... "... it's the perfect mix of dancers, drunks, heads, newbies, gays , and straights . Sunday nights at Re-bar is church for the regulars , and a good time for everyone else ." Well said ! I'll be there tonight , come join me .

1st day this year i'm wearing shorts ( it's sunny and 73 here in Seattle. Yeah, for us that's a big deal ) *huge grin* and for lunch I had sushi , for the 1st time . *yum yum! * ... and there's a good chance i'll go out dancing tonight for the 1st time in a month ( ok, that doesn't count , but still... )

Yeah I know, it's only May , but i'm hyped up already !!! This will be my 4th year , but i still feel like a newbie at times. It's time for me to ... start looking for costumes ( idea's , etc) Do some inventory on the camping gear ( replace, improve) Start to budget for the trip down and back ( gas, hotel, etc) Four months will come and go before you know it . Can't wait !!!!

I'm putting the name "notthat1" to rest . It was an "online" name I took from a N.W.A. song called "i aint the 1" . At the time ( in 2001) it sounded right , but now it just doesn't fit anymore . Besides , no one really calls me that anyways . Two weeks ago, I was camping up in Vancouver BC and while chatting with my cabinmates, someone asked what my name was . Before I could say James, someone said "isn't it Steve? " And without blinking I said "it's steveJames - international Man of mystery" . * lol * I like the name, and since i've been going through some major life changes, I thought it would be good to Re-introduce myself . Greetings.

Ok , It pains me to say, but , i'm still really shy . Yes , i've taken great strides in this area of my life ( some of you know this) , but I still find myself being "anti social" at parties / gatherings . I'm not sure why this is , but i've been called out on it this twice this week . Soooooooooooooooo ... I'm going to start talking more . I guess i've always felt ( at least around some people) that what I have to say holds no weight . That may or maynot be true ( i guess it depends on whom I'm speaking with , and what were talking about ) , and it's really not something I should concern myself with anyways . So i'm not going too anymore ( baby steps ) . I'm just going to starting talking about whatever is going on in my life, or something I found funny, or interesting , etc . I have an odd sense of humor , and like to see things from the "other" perspective . When I talk , i'll sometimes go into "character" using my voice , and body to get my point across . I've held back on doing this cause I didn't want anyone to think I was weird , or "really out there" . But that's ok , i'm comfortable in my own skin ( that's something I couldn't say 16 months ago) . Sooooooooooooo * pulls up chair* , let's chat . The cocoon process continues ... Namaste .
