Every Day is Earth Day

Hey Gang,

So I've been thinking a lot about Earth Day (April 22).

We have a number of holidays that seem like they are backed by Hallmark or Nestle, and yet, we celebrate them. No matter how hard I try, Valentines Day will always mean something to me - Even though ideally we show our love everyday.

I believe in taking actions towards minimizing my impact on the earth every day. The 'ole "Think Globally, Act Locally." What is cool about a day devoted to it, is perhaps we can promote awareness of some of the reasons why one would want to have a metal water bottle as opposed to buying plastic ones ... or energy minimizing light bulbs ... or organic food... or windmills. . .

Maybe since Valentines Day is so much fun because we get presents, I will give someone something to make their impact smaller.

Here are a list of some things I do. This is not to show off and say "i'm so environmentally friendly." It's a way of saying, I do this stuff and it isn't so expensive or time consuming.

*mysigg. com has a variety of metal water bottles that can be refilled.

*Nativeenergy. com a place where I calculate how much carbon I put out into the world, and then I can make a donation towards windmill energy.

*Non-toxic cleaners
*Using rags or cloth napkins instead of paper towels.

*Car-pooling or public transportation
*Spending time outdoors to remember how magical this earth is.

*idealbite. com sends email tips on ways to help.

*Reusing bottles/jars.

*Recycling
*Shopping at thrift stores
*Buying recycled paper products
*The list goes on . . .

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I think the best thing I can do is hold a positive vision of our earth. In the words of Doreen Virtue, "Spiritual healing means “drawing out the health that is already divinely inherent within each person and situation.”
We can even help our planet just by picturing it's beauty, or going outside and enjoying it.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!

Love,
NORA
