      <title>Every Day is Earth Day</title>
      <link>http://people.tribe.net/strongangel/blog/41528ac4-2649-4bd7-8aa5-c69852999ee5</link>
      <description>&lt;div&gt;Hey Gang, &#xD;
&#xD;
So I've been thinking a lot about Earth Day (April 22).&#xD;
&#xD;
&#xD;
We have a number of holidays that seem like they are backed by Hallmark or Nestle, and yet, we celebrate them. No matter how hard I try, Valentines Day will always mean something to me - Even though ideally we show our love everyday.&#xD;
&#xD;
&#xD;
I believe in taking actions towards minimizing my impact on the earth every day. The 'ole "Think Globally, Act Locally." What is cool about a day devoted to it, is perhaps we can promote awareness of some of the reasons why one would want to have a metal water bottle as opposed to buying plastic ones ... or energy minimizing light bulbs ... or organic food... or windmills. . .&#xD;
&#xD;
&#xD;
Maybe since Valentines Day is so much fun because we get presents, I will give someone something to make their impact smaller.&#xD;
&#xD;
&#xD;
Here are a list of some things I do. This is not to show off and say "i'm so environmentally friendly." It's a way of saying, I do this stuff and it isn't so expensive or time consuming.&#xD;
&#xD;
&#xD;
*mysigg. com has a variety of metal water bottles that can be refilled.&#xD;
&#xD;
*Nativeenergy. com a place where I calculate how much carbon I put out into the world, and then I can make a donation towards windmill energy.&#xD;
&#xD;
*Non-toxic cleaners&#xD;
*Using rags or cloth napkins instead of paper towels.&#xD;
&#xD;
*Car-pooling or public transportation&#xD;
*Spending time outdoors to remember how magical this earth is.&#xD;
&#xD;
*idealbite. com sends email tips on ways to help.&#xD;
&#xD;
*Reusing bottles/jars.&#xD;
&#xD;
*Recycling&#xD;
*Shopping at thrift stores&#xD;
*Buying recycled paper products&#xD;
*The list goes on . . .&#xD;
&#xD;
&#xD;
Thanks for taking the time to read this.&#xD;
&#xD;
I think the best thing I can do is hold a positive vision of our earth. In the words of Doreen Virtue, "Spiritual healing means “drawing out the health that is already divinely inherent within each person and situation.” &#xD;
We can even help our planet just by picturing it's beauty, or going outside and enjoying it.&#xD;
&#xD;
&#xD;
HAPPY EARTH DAY!!&#xD;
&#xD;
Love, &#xD;
NORA&#xD;
