Transylvania Calling 2009 - NEWS
Thu, April 2, 2009 - 9:03 AMthe summer and with it Transylvania Calling is fast approaching, there are only 5 full moons until the the day turns to night on the worlds most mystical and remote festival. Its about time to plan your trip to Transylvania :) so here some news for you to get you started for yet another massive explosion of art, music, dance, culture and expression! An organic festival with no impact on the beautiful Transylvanian nature.
Website and Pre sale is finally been launched!
We are still working on it on a regular basis but you can access already allot of info about the first stage of line up, tickets, this years concept, the gallery, travel-guide and more. Some information you can even find translated in different languages. to check if its already translated in your language just click your flag on the top right!
We would like to take this opportunity to answer a few of the most popular questions we have been receiving from you all.
1. Festival Capacity
The festival is being designed for 2000 people and the location can hold about 3000 people. We understand that many of you are used to bigger festivals than this. But the physical and logistical reality of the project does not allow for bigger than this. Already we have 2000 people on the list, and this is growing everyday. So please be prepared to book your flights/busses and tickets or packages NOW to avoid disappointment.
2. Travel to Transylvania and the festival
On the website you can check the travelguide to inform yourself about possibilities of getting here and around Romania by plane, train, bus and by car. You also find info and tickets for shuttles from Sibiu to the venue and the „Ozora Festival to Transylvania Calling Bus“.
shuttle bus tickets should be booked in time trough the website to help make transportation more organised.
If you need to get to a certain location after the festival (Budapest, Bucharest, etc) and you dont know how make sure to drop by the Infobooth right after your arrival. We will help organise and if enough people for a certain route we can book busses or find other solutions for you to not have to worrie about that anymore.
3. Accommodation and Food on the venue during the Festival.
On the venue are only 50 beds in share room cottages available which you can reserve directly with the owner of the place. Please contact bed@dmt.ro and we will forward you to the right person. There are also Hotels and Pensions in the village but with 20 km its quite far and not really reasonable if you want to experience the festival!
The festival is a outdoor event and camping is the way to go. Camping will operate for a total of 8 days. Bring your tents, sleeping bags, warm clothes and camping gear.
We will have national and international restaurants and food outlets to keep you fed and we have free springfresh drinking water for our guests.
4. Weather conditions in Transylvanian Mountains.
Usualy August is the hottest month of the year in Romania. From 23 to 36 degrees in daytime, nights/mornings can be fresh and humid with 10 to 18 degrees. Also in Mountains we always have a small chance for fast rain coming in which can be quite magic sometimes but we hope and believe it will be nice and warm troughout the festival. We advise to read the camping info and get prepared well for the 7 days out in the mountain. The festival camping will operate for a total of 8 days. Bring your tents, sleeping bags, warm clothes and camping gear.
5. Ecological Impact to the venue.
In our next newsletter we will explain exactly how the organisation is going to manage the impact of the festival and balance its harm against its benefit. This will form part of your agreement to come to the festival. It will require advanced eco consciousness on the behalf of ALL the participants. The only trace we can leave on the venue is Art and Consciousness.
For our Eco Village we are searching for organisations that can help make this event as green and sustainable as possible and give us a hand in educating Ecologic thinking to the interested participants.
