True Faith (SUBSTANCE...D'UH)

I feel so extraordinary
Something’s got a hold on me
I get this feeling I’m in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
I don’t care ’cause I’m not there
And I don’t care if I’m here tomorrow
Again and again I’ve taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much
I used to think that the day would never come
I’d see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

When I was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we’ve grown up together
They’re afraid of what they see
That’s the price that we all pay
Our valued destiny comes to nothing
I can’t tell you where we’re going
I guess there was just no way of knowing
I used to think that the day would never come
I’d see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

I feel so extraordinary
Something’s got a hold on me
I get this feeling I’m in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
The chances are we’ve gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I fear you’ve left me standing
In a world that’s so demanding
I used to think that the day would never come
I’d see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

Not sure what Losing My Religion was about but I think of HIV/AIDS or coming out or about our journey as humans as a whole or perhaps our own psychological/spiritual journey…or maybe REM just knew how to create some nice random artsy images…

Anyways, the imagery totally inspired me (Along with Campbell, Jung, Hesse...Coelho);

The hero is born pure into this world (Hero = humanity or you).

To initially survive the illusions the hero picks ... read more

My Moon God is Hidden
There is no Light on your Face
At a Distance
Who are You at Night?

Shiva Shines on Your Silent Face
Mainly Ancient Darkness
You will not see Your Children Tonight

Moon God is finally Shining
Cheerful as the Sun
Loved Silver Coin reflecting on the Ocean
Cherished by Everyone

Baba, I Love You!

Moon God You Fade to Cold
All over again
Taking away with You the Light
Until it is too Late for Me to Shine for You

It’s Okay Baba, You were the Moon

My Testimonials

August 13, 2007
I wonder if anyone remembers E.T. the book, not the movie. It went into all this detail about this little planet that E.T. came from - inhabited by botanists thousands and thousands of years old, wise and gentle beings that only seek to understand more.

they walk among us and once in a blue one will cross your path, enveloped in their peaceful little cloud, and you are left a little less hardened than you were before. Subir is one of those highly evolved beings. and whoever has spent any quality time with him will know what I mean. He's like fabric softener for the soul.

I miss seeing his face as regularly as I used to, but happy to know that people like him exist in the world.

Subir,

This is a little late in coming, but I write testimonials when they come to me. Subir is one of the nicest Canadians, heck people I've ever met. As a Buddhist, he's probably one of my friends the least likely to be at all affected by getting a testimonial, but I felt compelled to write one anywayst

Subir has a quality of genuinness about him that is unmistakably true friendship. When he asks you how your day was, it's not just a formality. He actually wants to know.

I think in this life, you find few true gems of people that you are truly grateful to have met. And Subir is definitely one of those.

So thanks Subir, I'm really happy to have you as a friend.

Hrundi V. Bakshi AKA Subir was a member of a rival GANG up in Maehongson province. I almost challenged him to a duel or a dance-off but vespa riding backpackers aren't good at violence so I decided to let him live. There were many days which passed on the rattan while Subir's gang and my gang would slurp jasmine tea, munching on dog bits, eyeing each other warrily while a bootlegged copy of Finding Nemo would play on the television. It was an uneasy truce.

A month later we saw him in Bangkok. He steered Tobias up north to volunteer at an orphanage and gave me and Roxy pointers on how to survive India. With our motorcycle gangs gone, the rivalry disappeared, although I still felt this strange urge to brutalize him.

Months later he moved to sunny Los Angeles. I no longer have the urges to brutalize him. Once you can see past his motorcycle gang ways, you come to realize that he's one of the most open, honest, gentle, enlightened and enlightening people on the planet. He's cool that way. Some of my best moments in LA have been slurping milkshakes with the guy talkin' guy talk: jung, hesse, hinduism...

Anyway. I'm gonna get all weepy and shit in this testimonial. I love this dude! In a dude way, but he's supercalifragilistic one of the coolest people EVER. He gives me CHI ENVY. I think he might be the next Gandhi. Or Peter Sellers. Or the lovechild of the two.
