Me Talk Pretty One Day (blog entry) An entertaining little bit of non-fiction / fiction by David Sedaris.
We read of episodic moments of the author's life and family, with equal parts irony, dry wit and village idiot observations of the emperor's lack of clothes.

Photo Laboratory
( local favorites » other ) "Awesome B/W photo lab" This is one of the best B/W labs I've found, mostly because I love Technical Pan and they do it right everytime.
Reasonable prices, and you can pick your developer if necessary. I still use them even though I move to Hawaii.

Art & Lies

This is a revolutionary work of fiction? that was made into a half-assed movie version by David Cronenberg ( Usually he's on of my favourite directors, but the adaption is a poor screenplay).
It's revolutionary it the mental space the book's story occupies. It is an erotic paean to frenetic coupling of people and machines, specifically cars in this context. Set in 1972-1973 on the motorways around the aeroport in London, the author finds himself in his first car crash that introduces him to... read more

It's a bit like reading a sit-com, but actually funny. I find the parts about learning French especially amusing.

One of the hardest things in life is taking responsibility for the reality that you create around yourself. Once we become responsible for becoming the goddesses of our own reality, than we are able to move past the stage of feeling helplessly lost to the winds of the fates.
With that responsibility, comes the knowledge that it is your responsibility to CREATE a reality that is more to your liking. If your are the architect of your universe, what are the plans? It is an extreme task, but on... read more

I finished the historical science fiction trilogy the Baroque Cycle composed of "Quicksilver", "The Confusion", and "The System of the World" by Neil Stephenson (see www.nealstephenson.com/ ) last month. I enjoyed it, but it's such a silly intrigue about science, alchemy and the plague of disease and war that this 3000 page novel is something of a guilty pleasure. I really enjoyed "Cryptonomicon" by this author even better, but if you are interested in science / technology, monarchy an... read more
