about me
I recently discovered that I was actually a circus freak in tech monkeys clothing. I've fallen in love with the fire artist groups of the world and the beautiful artistry they create with flaming objects and object manipulation. I have come across some extremely extraordinary folk in the short time that I have been exploring these arts (8 months as of May), and I hope to continue the trend. The fire spinning community at large is one of the most open, sharing and supportive I've come across; a massive extended family.

Some links to my fire spinning:

Currently I mainly spin poi, as you can see above. I'm learning staff and juggling. I also play with meteors (kinda like poi with one long string attaching the heads) and diabolo (chinese yo-yo) occasionally. At this point in time my arms and back of the neck are pretty bruised up from learning contact staff (manipulating the staff without actually grabbing it), it's quite fun but I have a helluva knot at the base of my neck from repeated impact. I spin during breaks at work, out in the parking lot. I'm sure it's much to the amusement (and sometimes shock) of my co-workers, as they watch me smack myself upside the head with one spinning implement or another, over and over again :P.

Eventually I hope to perform, but for now I just play.

My Blog

Hey all!

To all you folks that like to spin and manipulate objects of various sorts, epic times are coming our way this month and next, and it starts here in Eugene!!

I'll be creating and sending out event invites to all the folks I have in my lists in the Oregon area, so if you know anyone who might be interested and uses myspace or tribe, tell them to add me if I'm not already on their friend list. I'll update this blog post with the invite links once they are created (next few days, ... read more

I'm curious, who's going to FD and what days will you be there? Let me know!

I should be there from Thu - Sun.. But I'm carpooling with the gracious Lawrence, Michael and Tam, so we might do some stilting city invasions on the trip :P, if so we might be getting there a bit late or leaving a bit early. (And, since Tam is with us, there's the odd chance we might get attacked by a capibara or a rare indri lemur or some other bizarre animal).

Peace,
- Sui

Hey all, I'm sending out the lure, seeing what kinda bites are out there. We have the potential to bring Chris to our fair city for poi workshops. Chris Bailey phenomenally progressive spinner that will help you to bring your poi to life in ways that you probably haven't imagined yet. If we can get him out here it will be an absolutely amazing event.

If you're not familiar with who I'm talking about, check out his YouTube space:

Re: Where are you stick boy? (in FireDrums) Your description saved you. It's Brent from Bend. I don't think he has a computer tho, but you can probably contact him through Michael from Bend (the other stilt staff spinner):

PDX Fire Jam, featuring members of the Vulcan Crew! - x-post (in FireDrums) Hey all. Normally I wouldn't cross-post a vid link in FD, but since many of these folks are going to be at FD I figured I'd go ahead. If the moderators decide to delete the post, I'd understand.

Here's the post:

PDX Fire Jam, featuring members of the Vulcan Crew! - x-post (in Vulcan Crew) Hey all. We were lucky enough to get Noel, Ian, Jordan, and Greg of the Vulcan Crew in Oregon to teach some workshops earlier this month. After the workshops, we all hit the Portland fire jam for fire fun and here's the result :
