TV's Don Herbert, whom most of us know as "Mr. Wizard," died this morning of cancer.

I spent countless days of my summer vacations watching this guy's show as he performed the coolest science experiments in a way that got kids really excited about discovering, analyzing, and thinking critically. Mr. Wizard laid the groundwork for my love affair with the sciences, which led me to study toxicology in college and choose a career as a lifelong geek. I hope his shows keep going on to inspire future generations of little geeks.
