Here is his invite to hear his band.............................
Greetings, all -
Deep in the healing process - getting just a little bit better each day. Long ways to go.
Many of you know that I have a band called "Second Hand Smoke" that plays on the third Sat. of each month. Clearly I won't be playing sax this Sat., but my band just informed me that they're going to do the show anyway. They've dug up some old cronnies of mine to help out, and they've asked me to at least sing some. (The assailants didn't fuck up my voice anyway!) Never been on stage with a head full of pain killers before... ought to be a hoot!
They're billing it as a benefit, and have asked me to post the gig out to my Burning Man friends and family. I know that many have already helped me more than I would have dreamed, and I forever thank you all - but just showing up for a few tunes and friendly faces would do wonders to help cinch these old bones back together.
They're an awesome band in their own rite, and it has always been an honor to share a stage with them for all these years. It'll be a great show.
So, it's this Sat. afternoon from 4:00 to 8:00 at the Saloon on upper Grant St. in North Beach.
I have informed my physical therapist that I have a show booked for April 28th at the Saloon - the fourth Sat. afternoon of that month, and I WILL be playing my horn on that one -- and she better not give me any shit! They told me it's good to have a solid goal.
Hope to see you all!

Cracked barstools, a dusty wooden floor, and a huge, ornate wooden back bar define this large, old-time saloon, a steadfast survivor of both the debaucherous Gold Rush and the 1906 earthquake. Rough characters still frequent the place, though nightly live music draws all manner of tourists and more fashionable North Beach locals. Expect $2.50 beers and no-frills cocktails.

Wish we could!
I've told Tony for a couple years now that I'd come see him play. Jonathon's son is in town this weekend, so it's all about Bjorn. We'll have to miss it.
If you go, please say hello to Tonyfor me with wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Thank you! |
