I was having an out-of-body experience and almost astral-traveled away yesterday, so I grounded myself and got centered with the help of my spirit guides and then the phone rang, and sensing the negative vibrations, I threw the I-Ching and checked my numerology chart, nearly having a primal, but my energy was too blocked. So I did some bioenergetics and self-parenting, took some flower essences and ate ... read more

**Inspirational thought for the New Year** Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be gre... read more

"The pain (dukha) which is yet to come is to be avoided." (2.16) Building a Better Future Through Present Moment Awareness The crisp statement quoted above is simple enough. It is however, loaded with profound philosophical import, encapsulating within itself, the entire karma theory and its subtle nuances. This sutra implies that the fruits of our former deeds have been exhausted by the suffering we have already undergone. Therefore, nothing can be ... read more

After first helping us transcend our ego (I-ness), by regulating our social interactions through moral discipline, Patanjali next suggests ways in which the psychophysical energy thus freed can be further harnessed to take the yogi to the next level. If the first pentad of rules gives a positive restraint to our relationship with others, the following five (2.32), address our individuality, finally detaching the yogi from the outside wor... read more

about me
In one form or another, Mary has been living yoga since her birth. During her childhood, she spent much time riding and training competitive show horses. From this relationship, she has been deeply connected with her body since an early age. Since her first yoga class Mary found it quite natural because asana resonated with the dynamics of balance, awareness, and playing with a deep will inside to explore.. She also understands the student-teacher dynamic well, as 15 years were spent within the teacher-student relationship in learning horsemanship. Watching Mary practice & hearing Mary's words one knows she has lived this lifestyle for a very long time. In addition to continuing her studies within her daily Mysore style Ashtanga practice, she has trained with: Bikram Choudhury with whom she did a 9 week teacher training in L.A. in 2000, Baron Baptiste with whom she went to Mexico, did a teacher training in 2001 and she practiced in his Cambridge, Mass. studio for almost 2 years, David Swenson with whom she did a teacher training in 2002 in Vermont, Richard Freeman where she did a intensive course at the Kripalu center, Lino Miele with whom she did several weekend workshops, Dharma Mittra who is her current Guru with whom she practices currently at least once a week for the past 5 years, and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. It was in their first meeting Guruji (Jois) asked Mary to come to Mysore and study. During their next practice in NYC Sharat, Guruji's grandson asked Mary to come to Mysore to learn the Intermediate second series of Ashtanga yoga. Mary made it to Mysore & spent 3 months under the daily teachings of her Guru's. It was there she learned the intermediate series. During her stay in Mysore she also studied pranayama & ayurvedic massage which she combines with Thai massage and utilizes these tools while teaching classes. She emphasizes a capability to study, learn, and reflect the wisdom she is working to adapt in a straight-forward and playful manner. Through her lifetime of bodily awareness training she has an amazing way to clearly explain the poses, as well as push you to a new level you never knew possible. Her classes are vitally alive, energized, expressive as well as passionate. Before yoga, Mary studied and became a Certified Nutritionist, herbalist, and a Reiki healer. She has studied many, many styles of yoga and has developed her own style that keeps students coming back every day. She is also available for Nutritional Counseling. As owner and proprietor of the Oasis, she teaches Bikram Yoga, Power Yoga, and the Level III Ashtanga classes. During other times of the year she also teaches the Kids' Yogarama and leads the Yoga Oasis Teacher Training Seminars. BORN A YOGI, I have always done yoga, meditation and have always had a creative attitude to the world, even before my time...lived through hell, walked through it and I have risen to the hights of life and now I am here to teach others how to reach their own Divinity. I am a world traveller, choosing to adventure into dangerous places to deepen my own understanding of God, why people pray and how to reach a higher life this lifetime. I spent 6 months in Israel in 1989 to learn about God,why people pray, why people fight, and what faith is all about...and I learned about backpacking, travelling, living with little money, but a high faith in God. There I learned about the lifestyle of the american sadhu, otherwise known as...the Hippie... I came back to a America with new eyes and a new heart..., and in 1990 went on tour with the Grateful Dead where I lived the life of the American Sadhu (indian mystic seeker). I lived in Redwood trees before it was cool, went to many Rainbow Gatherings (www.welcomehome.org) and danced my ass off at many a full moon rave in Santa Cruz....and the SF area. I didnt work a job in 4 years, but found a way to work the hearts & minds of many and realised how little I really needed to be truly happy...and being broung up on Long Island, in NY, one of the wealthiest places in the world, I needed to be awakeded with a 2x4 blow to my head....dumped out in the desert & made to survive. I travelled this whole country on faith, love, peace, and well, a few Psychedleics.... After spending 4 years alone, without a home, no money, barely any clothes, I leared a lot about myself, life and the power of manisfestation. Now I know the truth...WE CREATE OUR REALITY...everything that comes to us, & through us is a direct manifestation of our own mind, conscious or not...We are the creators of this thing called life... In the great year of 2000, I lived in Patagonia. Arizona at the Tree of Life Rejuvination center wit Dr Gabriel Cousins & learned the Living Foods lifestyle...I chanted every day and met Amma....she had given me a sacred mantra & Yogi Bhajan had given me the sacred name of Sat Darshan Kaur. Forever they rest on my heart & my lips...
