TERROR-ism

<div>OK, so I try to be positive. But JESUS CHRIST! This is totally beyond ridiculous! I have had it with all of the "government imposed regulations to prevent terrorism" and the explanatory "well, since 9-11..."! I just went to the bank to deposit a check endorsed to me, and the kind matronly woman behind the counter looks at it and asks me over her spectacles, "Who is this person?". "She's an associate at my real estate agency, and she's endorsed a check to me," I reply, confused. She shakes her gray head with authority and a tsktsk apologetic reprimand and looks up to say, "Oh, no, we can't just endorse this check without this person present. We have no ID on this person. We don't know who she is." I tell her I've never heard of such a thing, and she explains to me that things are different now...you know. "Oh, since 9-11," I joke. "Well, yes. Quite different. This is a government imposed regulation. We can't just accept a check from someone who's ID we've never seen. We just don't know who this person is." "Oh yes b/c I'm sure she's a terrorist," I laugh sardonically. She looks to the left and right behind her and then smiles nervously at me. "Oh, yeah, I understand. The walls have ears," now I'm just pissed at it all. "Well, anyone can be a terrorist," she shares sorrowfully to recreate our bond. "I know one terrorist for sure, and his name is George W. Bush," I say louldy and leave the bank in a wake of her fear-stifled chuckling. Why are we so afraid? Even the most "patriotic", pro-war Christian will tell you that we're "fighting for our freedom". We've all seen those bumper stickers beneath the F-150 and between the tits'n'ass mudflap girls that proclaim, "Freedom isn't free". Yes, quite. Apparently it is our own freedom that we have to pay for the freedom of the evil elite to have their gluttonous fun in the oil fields of the cradle of civilization. Apparently, it costs the lives of babies and old women and the precious years of young mothers (so many moms being sent to Iraq to "fight") and the virile sanity of young men to pay for our freedoms to be stolen one by one. The armed forces are not only increasing the number of soldiers being sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, they are also increasing the time of duty to 1 full year - with some people serving multiple terms even after "battle" injuries that the government refuses to pay for. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, that little wanna-be cowboy prick with the insatiable inadequacy complex systematically preys on the weakness of group psychology to create an all-pervasive fear in the minds of the gullible Americans. And what KILLS my heart is that people are BUYING IT! Try saying "terrorist" in an airport. Try having a conversation in public with someone - especially someone of Middle Eastern descent - about how George W. Bush is a fucking liar and a murdering coward! Or even just try having a normal political conversation which speaks agains the republican regime in neutral, educated language. I guarantee that without even realizing it, they will look behind and around them to see who is listening. I went to a new drycleaner in my neighborhood (owned by an older Persian man) the other day and could barely make it to the counter without laughing and puking b/c there was not a square inch of that establishment not covered in "patriotic" statements and American flags. When the guy asked me how I was doing, and I looked around and said, "Don't you think it's a bit much?", he looked over his shoulder and shrugged helpless and knowing, as if to say, "What can I do? And you know that." Whatever happened to Freedom of Speech and the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness?! Everywhere I go, every fine print I read, I notice another "government imposed regulation to reduce the risk of terrorism". This spreading of terror in the hearts and minds of the American people IS terrorism. Do you know that you cannot apply to a credit card company without them reporting all of your information to the governmental bureau of terroristic bullshit? Read the fine print on the next 0% APR- we-want-to-keep-you-in-debt-for-the-rest-of-your-life-so-you-stay-down credit card application you get in the mail with all of your bills. I am sick of this spend money to make money just to survive gerbil wheel! We are here to do great things! Why are we all struggling so hard just to survive in a system we don't ultimately even believe in?! And I mean "us", as in humans, not just the superagents. Because if you ask the "average working man/woman American" how much they like their job or how they feel in general, they will tell you that they are stressed, depressed, and never rest. They will tell you that they work too much for too little just to keep their "Benefits" - to get their health insurance so that they can pay for all of their stress-related illnesses and get their "paid vactions" to spend all the money they worked so hard to make just trying to unwind their tweaked nervous system somewhere for 4 days. And what other animal besides humanimals actually uses its resources and intelligence and technology tools to destroy its own environment? Has the whole world gone totally mad? I already know that answer. But I am still flabbergasted by how totally disconnected we are from our own living environment, the very elements that maintain our survival, our source. We glide over the paved surfaces never knowing of or feeling what really wants to grow beneath them, zipping around at break-neck speed, talking on our blackberry cell phone internet pager cell mutation device, being everywhere but right here and present with one another. In fact, thanks to the card swipe convenience, not only can the government track our every move (refer to above truth), but we now never have to interact with another human at all. So we can fill our tanks with another man's fortune and the blood of a thousand souls and rush off to our next meaningless experience while we yak away at the air the whole way there. I am over it!</div>

Convergence with Integrity

<div>So this weekend's Raindance Chinese New Year party was a great convergence of tribes and agents. Thanks so much to everyone who put in their hard work, creativity, networking, and mad DJ skills to make that happen! Raindance did an amazing job of transforming 1015 Folsom, and everyone agreed that it was one of the best times they'd ever had there...the usual wild rumpus of beats and freaks, love and madness, bumped up a notch for the new year...
So, speaking of bumping things up. ..another thing that everyone seemed to agree on is that 1015 Folsom as a venue sucks!
The (in)"security" people are abusive and robomatronic, rough, and rude from the door to the floor. People were shoved and prodded and generally man-handled. Even above and beyond the flood of crap incident, the toilets were totally substandard. The Women's room had a piss-flooded toilet-paper-strewn floor all night that only got worse as the night wore on, with no attention being paid in any way to cleaning up the situation. In my years of TV and event production, I've learned that all production comes down to "toilets and trashcans" (infrastructure). There are better toilets in the porta-potties at Burning Man.
- But I'm not Blogging to bitch, I'm acknowledging a situation to focus attention on creating positive change... -
So, let's converge to be in Integrity. We are an AMAZING group of people standing for the New World, for celebrating a New Paradigm, and for bringing forth light, love, trust, truth, and respect...MONEY IS ENERGY and MONEY TALKS>
Why give soooo much of our collective energy ($20 times a LOT of people for shortcut math) to a place that so blatantly acts directly against everything we stand for? The staff reeks of fear and disrespect and the place reeks of crap...
Let's be in integrity in all of our actions. Let's converge at venues worthy of our kind of celebration, a vessel that can hold us in a way that inspires, embraces, uplifts, empowers, and enhances our purpose with kindness and beauty...
Let's give our (green) energy to what we believe in and dance united in Integrity!
Pls. reply with comments or suggestions for venues (Cellspace, Terra, but are there new ones? At the very least, let's straight-up boycott 1015).
Love in aBunDance,
