Exciting news about Mission Control! Following the announcement last month that Mission Control was soon to close its doors, there has been an exciting new development. A group of regulars are working together to form an organization to take over the space from Scott and Polly. We don’t know yet exactly how it’s going to look, but we are investigating a possibility that could SAVE MISSION CONTROL. Now is the time to have your voice heard! You could be part of this new phase! the end of KINKY SALON as we know it

It's with a heavy heart that we announce the impending closure of Mission Control and the end of Kinky Salon as we know it. After an incredible nine years of community, creativity and LOVE, we have decided that it's time to close this chapter to make way for The New. Mission Control has been a vibrant and dynamic part of the San Francisco scene for nearly a decade, providing everything from a simple space to play free of judgment, to a warm and welcoming community space. But as many of you know, we have goals far bigger and more far-reaching than event production, and in order to achieve them we need to break ourselves free from the cycle of events required to keep the space alive. It's not that we want it to be over- far from it- but we just can't take on the energetic and financial burden anymore. We will close in six months, perhaps less, depending on various factors. New Years Eve seems like a good book end, as our first event at Mission Control was New Years Eve 9 years ago So alongside our heavy hearts which will miss the space we call home, which we have put so much love and energy into making so frickin' gorgeous, we also feel a sense of relief at being free to focus our energies on new projects and pour our passions into manifesting visions we have been developing for years. We honestly don't know what will happen to the community we have built, and how it will gather in the future. Perhaps we will host events in people's homes, or in clubs with naughty after-parties, perhaps the community will self organize, or maybe Kinky Salons will just start cropping up all over the planet. We are taking a leap of faith, jumping high in the air, letting the earth turn beneath us, and trusting that we will land safely. We are opening up to possibilities and are excited to find out what will happen in this new chapter in our story. It's difficult for us to communicate how grateful we are for the incredible community we have been lucky enough to participate in; for all the deep connections and the creativity, for all the inspiration and the love- we will take every ounce of it with us. These last 9 years have been incredibly transformative for us- we have learned so much and grown in ways we could have never predicted, and in this transition, nothing is wasted and nothing will be left behind. Everything we do in our lives from here out will be resting on the shoulders of the achievements of Kinky Salon. Special thanks goes out to our core volunteers- the true VIPs of Kinky Salon. It's your continued dedication and passion that has kept Kinky Salon going for as long as it has. You make Kinky Salon what it is, and without you it's nothing. So Kinky Salon's days at Mission Control are numbered- come out, have fun, get your rocks off while you can, and let's go out with a BANG! Polly and Scott xx

We are starting a new event here at Mission Control on May 9th (thats NEXT FRIDAY) called ‘The Voyage of The Lotus Lightship’ and we are looking for participants. Specifically, we are looking for facilitators, practitioners, musicians, performers, poets, shamans, and guides of all persuasions. Do you have something to show us? Something to share? Something to try out? Something to teach? If you have any short immersive/interactive experiences in your repertoire that you would like to share, or any ideas for more ongoing games and thought provoking exercises, or some sort of linear presentation or performance- all your ideas are welcome! Ideally your offering would range from 5-15 minutes, or be an ongoing thing that doesn't require group focus. We want this to be an opportunity for you to open your work up to a new audience and present any projects you are working on. The range of people here will be super diverse and interesting. All your details will also be featured on the newsletter, which goes out on our 2000 strong email list. We are interested in Yogic traditions, Tantric wisdom, tools of consciousness, altar building, Aromatherapy, Elixirs, DJ’ing, poetry and spoken word, healing body work, visual arts and media, performance and ritual, guided meditations…. JOIN ME Meditation Vinyasa Yoga This class uses vinyasa (flow), modifying breath to create movement in the body, to allow the practitioner insight into yoga as a whole. This is a powerful form of yoga that can be both physically and mentally challenging. By using vinyasa (roughly sun salutations) as yoga's physical building block, we realize the breath as the building block of consciousness. Yoga as meditation allows us to experience honesty by transcending perceived limitations; building an appreciation of love, integrity, and union. Chanting and meditation are central to this experience, allowing us to connect in new ways to ourselves as well as others.

Each area will be hosted by lead organizers who will show you the ropes and get you involved (should you wish to be). CANDYLAND DRESS: Living dolls/ toy soldiers/wind-up toys/ stuffed animals(furries) candy treats/ pastel colors/ candy stripes ACTIVITIES: Balloon bondage, candy caning, liquorice rope whips, candy feeding orgy, human statues, cotton candy serving PEEPSHOW MINIGOLF DRESS: Rodeo clowns/ stars and stripes/ all American/ white trash/ carnival sideshow ACTIVITIES: Minigolf, gogo dancing, spinning wheel of fortune, audience participation, general ridiculousness, weird prizes, LAPDANCES!
