She exudes passion as if it were her life's blood -
and it may well be.
Silly boys and grrrls flit around her fire

Love insistently tugs at her will
distracting her nefarious intentions.

I battle illusions
the illusion that the physical is all there is
the illusion that the spiritual is all there is

And she stays up late with all the house lights turned up bright
eating quesadillas and mint tea
just like she's done since she was a little girl.
Avoiding her bedroom
all cold, quiet and neon
the light is awful
walls covered in art, notes,
bits of paper with the better scraps or mediocre poems
and phone #s of people she won't call.
Dirty alter a mess of intentions and history
everything scattered and manic looking

the brakes hiss as they air up. The dragon creeks and thunder rolls down the line as she jolts into movement.
the ka-clunk ka-clunk of heavy steel wheals on ties. The dragons heart racing, rolling towards sunset.
