England 2008

Back again... I Love England... it's so beautiful, cultured & civilized. London is a world class city... there is so much to do and see there. It would take weeks to photograph and see it all. I can't wait till I get to visit again...and oh yes, I'll be going back again & again & again! The first stop was Manchester, it's a smaller city, great for walking, has excellent chinese restaurants and a huge shopping area. I was in Blackpool for Halloween, it was a fun place to be, and I loved our hotel 'The Imperial', it had a great pub! Trafalgar Square is an amazing place and I highly recommend visiting the National Gallery. I could have spent all day there! Covent Gardens is very pretty and has the best street performers & musicians in london. Big Ben is the major Iconic photo-op must have in any travelers album! ;-) Hyde Park is Big! Home to some of the friendliest squirrels I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Portobello Road is fun for blowing your spending money and eating crepes. And ya Gotta love those red phone boxes!

So, I decided to get a job... And so far it's going really well and I really like it alot. I'm making money and gaining a new kind of self-worth, but the only problem is... I'm missing classes and my Dance friends! There's just not enough time to do all the things I want to do, and I'm feeling a certain level of conflict and inevitability. I'm hoping that if I am patient it will all work itself out, and that I will be able to find a way to do both Bellydance & Work. They say you make time for the things you love...and I love bellydance!

Hello all! As some of you know, me & my guy took a cruise over the holidays! Just the two of us... Ahhh, romantic no? ;-) We visited Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan & Cabo San Lucas. Cruising is good because it's kind of like ordering the sampler platter... you get a little of everything and then next time you order, you'll know what you liked the best! Hi! I'm back from my winter London Adventure! Father & I had a great time and lots of laughs! We stayed in Glouster, took the subway (aka the tube), did the double decker bus thing, got lost a few times, and walked miles everyday! We also took an all day tour to Windsor, Stonehenge & Bath. I always wanted to go to Stonehenge and it was just as cool as I imagined it would be! I was not dissappointed! There is just something about that place...Energy, Ravens, Mystery, Green. And Bath was beautiful with its honey colored stone!! I could spend an entire week there. One of the highlights of our trip was going to see Monty Python's Spamalot at the Palace Theatre! We had great seats and laughs! And of course we did all that other stuff too... Big Ben, Tower of London, the Eye, London Bridge, Madam Tussadus, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Thames, Hard Rock Cafe, Portobello Rd...and Many More!! Ha-ha! Wanna see some photos? Last night I saw Tool at the Everett Events Center... Some friends invited me to go at the last minute because they had an extra ticket. At first, I passed, because I figured it would be an "all-guy" kinda show, but they talked me into going, and I'm really glad I went. It wasn't what I expected at all... It was kind of Trancie in a strange way...it was amazing...they sounded really good live! The crowd, although full of men, was totally into it, and unusually non-violent... You have to remember this is Everett we're talking about. I really liked the drums! That guy was so on it. What can I say? I am a bellydancer! ha-ha! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhjG47gtMCo

London Calling!!

Guess What?!? I'm taking my first trip to Europe in 12 days! And I am Super excited/nervous! Excited because I always wanted to go, and Nervous because I've never been there! Ha-ha! I just have no idea what to expect... expect the unexpected! The only thing that's intimidating to me, is that I tend to get lost really easily and London is very big with lots of subways! And another thing is that 10 1/2 hour flight! Yikes! That's gonna be hard to deal with. I truly am a Lucky Lucky Girl.. I never imagined I'd have such an opportunity. If it wasn't for the fact that I was Invited to go, it wouldn't be happening at all! Maybe even never... But it just so happens that my Father wants to take a winter vacation, and wants to take me along because I'm such good company...( I'm his favorite, but don't tell anyone! ha-ha!)... Too bad my Guy is going to be left at home (pining for me I'm sure), but someone's got to feed the cats! Ha-ha!

We stayed at his sisters house, visited with 'the Clan', caught up with some friends, ate really good food, took the subway, and Partied downtown! Chloe, Angela & Myself...Performed at open mic night on friday at Wired & Unplugged in Snohomish! We had a good time and it was just for Fun! ;-) I think we might have blew some high school Minds! The crowd was Very Young! They were so quite while we were performing, I could hear myself breathing! I don't think our music was loud enough.... Anywho, when we were all done, they applauded nice and loud! Here's a lovely photo of myself with the Rishi's Egypt Student troup! It was my first time performing with them, But more importantly, it was the first time, in the 5 years I've been bellydancing, that my Parents ever saw me Perform!! I think they were both surprised, and impressed! My Mother kept gushing about how she thought I was the crowd favorite! Ha-ha! Ya gotta love Mom's! They always say all the nice things! It was great fun to dance with Rishi's girls, they were so relaxed and warm-hearted. A great experience!

So I was asked to show off my new Aziza drum solo for Rishi's Egypt wednesday class... I was really shaky and nervous waiting for the music to come on... watching all those 20 some pairs of eyes, watching me! I know I'm the new girl, and I'm sure they all wanted to see what I could do!... I hope I didn't disappoint! After I was done they rewarded me with a loud applause that made me smile and feel good, but then there was the constructive critique from the audience of dancers ....always useful, and always hard....even if you've been through it before! I'm thankful that I heard more good than bad! It could have been crushing, no matter how full of confidence, and how great I think I am! Ha-ha! ;-) But the good part is that now I'm not nervous about performing this friday at all! And I'm so glad I made the cut, and I get to show off my stuff... solo! So for any of you Rishi's girls out there, who might read this.... Thank you. xoxox Saffron

I had a Fabbity Fab Fab Weekend!!! Those Portland Bellydancers sure are friendly and they are Good dancers too!! On sunday we knocked it out! It took 3 hours for 30 girls to learn 3 minuets of choreography!! We worked hard, and I'm sure I had a Huge smile on my face the whole time! Aziza is such a Fun Teacher! I wish I could take classes from her all the time! And you should have seen Pasha's persian restaurant....they had a live band, a dance floor, disco ball, fog machine, a full bar, really good persian tea, and hookahs! Aziza was Marvelous!! She's really something special! I can't wait till she comes back again next time! Isn't this the cutest souvenir ever!
