Road Trip!!!

I'm going on a road trip tomorrow with my in-laws. We are traveling to Memphis, TN for a funeral. I have to admit I'm a little nervous about traveling southern highways at night, but I have to get past that! What is it about road trips that pisses everyone off. I mean you can go on a road trip with your best friend and once you get to your destination your ready to strangle them (only kidding). I think I should pack a crash helmet just in case.lol

I AM SUPER TIRED!

Is it me, or has this week gone by very slowly? I should really be at the gym now, but for some reason I can't get off the couch. Oh well, I'll just sit here and watch The Office.

Grad School Interview

I'm so happy! I got an interview with the chairperson of one of the Masters programs I applied to. It's tomorrow and I'm praying that it will go well.

Ignorant People

I'd like to think of myself as a sweet and nonviolent person, but I've come to realize that there are stupid in the world that will try to provoke you. Yesterday, my husband and I were in the parking lot of a nearby mall when this woman started hurling insults at us. I not going to repeat what she said because I don't want to give any power to her words. It turned into a verbal altercation and it could have led to more, but I told my husband that we should just walk away. When I walked off she continued to taunt me and almost ran into me with her car! I threatened to kick her a#$, but then the police started circling the parking lot. I new that I would be seen as the aggressor for some "odd" reason so I left the sh#t alone and she finally drove off after calling me a few b#$ches. The moral of this story is sometimes you just have to walk away!

Jena 6

My heart goes out to all the individuals involved in this situation. I do not support violence against anyone! The criminal justice system has often given African-Americans harsher sentences than other races who commit the same crime. I think Jena 6 is a prime example! I pray that they will come to a positive resolution.

Now That You're All Grown Up

When I was a child I couldn't wait to grow up because no one would boss me around anymore.lol I couldn't wait to stay up all night and go wherever i wanted! As I reflect on those days I realize that I didn't know how lucky I was. There is so much more to adulthood than partying and staying up all night! Hell! Some of us actually have to get up and go to work! Can't run to mom and dad anymore for loans.

Quality Time

Why do men offer material things as a substitute for quality time? Rolling around in bed with an expensive purse, shoes, jewelry, or a new outfit really does nothing for me! Just a few hours of your undivided attention would do the trick and you'll find it's a lot less expensive.

Career Move

Have you ever felt that it was time to move from one position to bigger and better opportunities? Do feel like you aren't climbing the success ladder, but instead you've pitched a tent at the bottom. I want to make a career move, but I'm afraid of taking chances. I like the security of my current position, but I know this isn't all God has for me!

Lights Out

Yesterday we had a terrible storm in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. My electricity has been off since Thursday at 2:00pm. I'm posting this from my mother's computer. Trees are down, trucks have flipped, and power lines have snapped! A ComEd representative stated that it may take two or more days to restore power. Well, thank God I'm still alive!
