ooooh i like steven.
i like running into him after months and lifetimes and realizing how many years it's been since we started monkeying around together.
i like listening to his glistening stories of faraway lands that i dream of.
i like dancing with him in the shadows and sparks where it's so loud that we can't talk.
i like hugging him and getting swept away from myself into his arms...the kind of hugs where the whole world disappears for a minute.
he's a keeper for sure. oh, and we're gonna go to bali together someday...

You ever meet one of those people?
You know the ones.
The ones that seem to not just have their shit together; but also seem somehow to be ascending higher than the rest of us? The kind of person that doesn't waste their lives away whining about how things should be, but instead just empower themselves, arm themselves with fresh knowledge constantly; and push themselves beyond their abilities constantly?
Don't you hate those people?
Steve is one of those guys, yet somehow, he's one of the most likable people you'll come across.
He's easy going, and laidback; but not in any way that's lacadaisical. He shines onstage like a decked out Christmas tree. And if you're close enough to appreciate it, his wit is so Razor sharp If you're not paying attention, you might not feel the cut.
all in all, an exemplary fellow.
I highly recommend him.

Geez, I didn't realize how *young* ol' Steve-o is. How about that? A babe in the woods! I always thought he was, like, older than me. See what I'm sayin' though? He's, like, got that aura. He's *more*.

I keep... I don't know... trying to "win" Steve over somehow, but it's just one of those things. He's tough, mang, it's not a matter of preferences but of situations, pressures, realities, alternating levels of relation - he's an intellectual of the kind of high calibre where you're like "crap, my usual hokum isn't going to fly, here" so you bust out your ultra-super level shared intelligentsia secrets of transcendent bonding and he's still just nodding indulgently and keeping his lips pursed, like, "yeahp, yeahp" - DANG! But, it turns out later, he really is this nifty warm fellow who's not at all judgmental -
- hey dude, all the sudden I'm reminded to tell you about the new samurai cartoon coming on late nights -
- and really quite sincere. The A-list people all praise him, even though, let's be real, Steven's not about to pay into to the whole "A-list" evaluation, as that's pompous exclusionary casting, and thoroughly irrelevant, really, but still - you can tell what a man's quality is by the people he dates, right? Steve gives you good books to read, but then you're like "shit - is he sending me some kind of message with this?"
Maybe, maybe.

Go see two of my friends' bands: No River City and Hope For Agoldensummer
No River City:
The skinny is that NRC is a damned good band that plays an unusual variant of what some people might call “alt-country” or “americana”. Maybe it’s a dreamy indie band that has folk and roots tendencies. The band is not signed and is not famous. Been around long enough to know better than to quit. Always looking for the right people to help take it to a wider audience. Done pretty well over the last 5 ...

Today is Diwali: The Hindu Festival of Light that marks the victory of good over evil (I guess Jehovah didn't get the memo...oh well he's no fun at festivals anyway). According to my contacts in the East heres the 411 on 11/01: "On the day of Diwali, many wear new clothes, share sweets and light firecrackers. The North Indian business community usually starts their financial new year on Diwali and new account books are opened on this day.Hindus find cause to celebrate this festival for differ...
