Looking for shop space in Seattle

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/tabasco/blog/777f4f77-45bd-4c1e-9ca1-e16a05ceaac1">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/f68/b51/f68b51c2-7292-4988-b91c-ba5d075e85cb.thumb" width="53" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>Greeting Friends,

     I’m looking for 3 things to help me with the start of my new business (was established in 1975 and I will be the 3rd Generation) “The Blacksmith Shop”

1. I’m looking Shop Space

     *    need natural Gas
     * Need to be able to be loud during the day, and not as loud at night (for the occasional late night cram)
     * 1400 to 2000 Sqft of work shop space. (willing to look at smaller or larger spaces depending on cost)
     * 220 power (3 phase would be nice but I have phase converters).
     * I need the space by mid July.
     * Prefer is the space is in
          1. Ballard/Interbay
          2. Georgetown.
          3. A space with a good co-op or shared space environment in the Seattle area.
          4. A space with metal workers already who have space available.

2. Looking for other Metal workers who would like to share a space, this allows for a larger space and cheaper rent. I will of course need to meet and talk to anyone interested in this. I am willing to share tools as well as space but would need to discuss this.

3. I’m also looking for people who don’t want to own space in a shop but would be interested in having access to a full metal and blacksmithing shop. I’m toying around with the idea of having an open space with a minimum charge (say $50 a month) and either an hourly or flat rate for x number of hrs. The shop has a welder, plasma cutter, drill presses, chop saw, band saw, anvils, benders, twisters, forge, vices, slip hammer, air tools galore, chisels, hammers, and many other tools. At some point I will also offer courses in the various arts and acts that happen in a forge but for now I need a space. (if interested please let me know and I will add you to a mailing announce list to send you info as the idea develops or add yourself at http://groups.google.com/group/blacksmith-shop-users-list/).

Please send this info to any and all interested parties. Contact me @ Tabasco@theblacksmithshop.com (website soon to com)

Thank you

looking for Business plan writer

<div>Looking for Business plan writer.
  I have the opportunity to purchase a Blacksmith shop and need to write a Business plan however this is not something I’m good at, I am good at blacksmithing. So I’m looking for someone who is interested in a trade. Blacksmithing work in exchange for helping me research and writing the blacksmithing business plan. The work to be negotiated.

I would prefer if this person was local (ie Seattle) however if you feel you can help from afar I will be willing to try. I need the business plan by the end of April (The sooner the better) I think.

As a Black Smith I can do any number of ornamental pieces of metal. See http://www.irongypsy.com/portfolio this is not the limiting factor, beds, railings, gates, garden stuff, pot racks, fire tools, burn pits, performance tools, grates, etc.

Please e-mail me at Tabasco@irongypsy.com

										<div> DB, your IQ score is 141

Your overall intelligence quotient is the result of a scientifically-tested formula based on how many questions you answered correctly. But it's only part of what we learned about you from your answers on the test. We also determined the way you process information.

The way you think about things makes you a Creative Theorist. This means you are a highly intelligent, complex person. You are able to process information of nearly every kind with ease, using both creativity and analysis to make sense of the world. Compared to others you also have a very rich imagination.
---------------------
So this isn't a complete waste of time update on my life

I moved, which means it took about 2 months to get my internet back on line (too poor to pay) but now that I'm getting caught up on my money things I'm doing well, Black smithing has been going well, and I'm looking forward to all the things to come.

I'll probably be down in Oakland for about 3 weeks in January and then back up here to focus on the moving of the shop (at least writting that business plan I keep talking about so I can afford to move the shop)

mostly things are good, My relationships have been mostly good, with a few rough edges I'm still working on but hopefully will figure out soon

thats all for now

Did I have fun at Decom? yes, but more than that it was Good work

<div>I talked to Raspa after Decom, (or after I was done and holding 2 beers in my hand) and mentioned that I was done. he told me when asked if he had fun, he says, well it was good work. I don't work decom to have fun, I work decom so I can make sure others, you, my friends and my community have fun. Make sure performers can do what they do and the other people dealing with every other aspect of the event doesn't have to try and figure what My performers need.

I like working with people and enjoy having a successful night (even when frustrated).

Decom worked great my one gripe isn't something I don't need to mention. My performers rocked, the fire marshal was easy to be around and the decom staff was happy. tomorrow I head back to Seattle after spending 6 days in SF and I was luck enough to spend good times with good people while here.

once back in Seattle I get to organize my new pad, start that small little business plan to start my tiny little business as a black smith do half a dozen other things. all cause frankly it's good work, and I love it even when it drives me mad

<div>So here I am once again in SF working for BM for Decom. I'm living a life in two towns, and really loving the amazing people in both. I'm happy to be here and miss being up there. My life is not perfect, but if it was there would be little for me to do. I'm usally happy and usally know why.

I think I'm very Lucky and plan on staying that way, but if it changes, I don't think I truely will loose much, I've worked hard to be this lucky and that will never change.

Thank you friends and family for the support the love and you know, the kick in the ass when I'm not working hard enough for my luck.

<div>So the playa did me quite well this year (mostly) and I felt amazing about the lantern project and camping with KAOS was fantastic.

Now I have to start working on the multitude of other things I've been procrastinating on (or rather didn't have time for)

1. Business plan. I have to write and organize my thoughts so I can try and get a loan from a bank to move and start up a black smithing business
2. plan and set up shop at the Fremont Fair: Get my product line together and start working the fremont fair selling my black smithing and chainmail jewelery (maybe) to really hopefully start making some money
3. Make my Latte Art Book: make and create art for a latte art Table book primarly etched stuff with a little info on how to and why.
4. Move: I just signed a lease on a studio apartment and wrote checks for the place. Finally I will live alone (never done it before). I also have to get the money in the bank for the checks I wrote.
5. Decompression: Need to start getting ready to head down to SF for decompression. I'll be running the fire stage (again) hopefully with a smoother run and fun time.
6. figure out my love life (enough said)
7. get out of the post burn funk
8. figure out what I'm forgetting that I know I need to do
9. start planning my grant for the fire arts education serious (more on this later)

so a few things just to keep you all up dated.
My pictures from the burn are at :

										<div>Not really,
    Another quick update to al those who care

I'm in Oakland now helping with the Fire Arts Festival at the Crucible (as opposed to the Fire Arts Expo with Burningman earlier in the year).

Also lots of work on the Fire pots and Lantern has been done, if you haven’t checked it out yet go to http://www.irongypsy.com/blog - has pictures and bad commentary.

Me I'm generally doing well, I'm still calm but feel a bit stress on a few different levels. I have unfortunately started stealing drags again, but hope to have that under control again soon. I have no excuse really, but weird as it is it was this time last year that I started smoking again, I am taking that as a lesson learned and planning on not doing it again.

And that all I have time for now

										<div>Just an update for any one who likes to know:

I'm working Critical Mass June 21st - 25th then doing half a million things before heading to SF on the 10th - 17th for the FAF.

I'm busy and not, things seem to be in this hurry and wait stage. Waiting for steel, waiting for people, waiting for work, but working, getting steel, getting people. It all very strange and overwhelming.

The Lantern project is going well, we I have 4 helpers in shop and two for transport. I'm excited to work out a few details for some of this. I have ideas and am waiting for steel..... Pictures are on the blog - www.irongypsy.com/blog

my world is good, I have sold a few hoops this month, a few head pieces, a few eating torches, some fans, and some palm torches. Enough to pay bills and rent. and eat. I think.

Zoka is on the DL. I'm working there 3-5 times a month if that and so am hoping that that money covers some of the bills, but am not expecting much out of it.

and that is my personal update for you my friends.

    </a>
										<div>A week ago Donia and I were told that a troupe of performers thatwere going to work with us at Criticla mass would not be able to do it. Now donia and I have taken the concept they had and put the 3 week crunch recruitment on it. Were not doing to bad, we have gotten an (Surprise), burlesque dancers, contortionists and people that want to help us do it right. So far so good. We need more people involved, to make it perfect but our intial crew is wise and I like them.

Yesturday I spent the first"work day" on the Lantern Project had Donia and Jade out there (nipper, and stuart and Julie and a few others didn't make it out this weekend) and we did some good work. I have a blog that is specific to the project (http://www.irongypsy.com/blog) and pictures are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tabasco/sets/72157594155253794/ (pictures and blog will be updated on a fairly regular bases till the burn).

And then I'm now wandering in the new business world. possible getting ready to get a real bussiness loan and move mike's shop to some place and take it over. He may be retiring in a year and will be giving me the opportunity to buy him out and become a full time, hope to god I make enouigh money to live blacksmith. (can I do it) this is a little different than currently, in that the shop is mikes, and the work is our's but in the new senario the shop would be mine (and I would make payments to mike and the bank and fix the tools that break and make sure all the bills were paid and and and). I'm only in the brain storming part of this.....

Now it's dinner time time to go and maybe come back and fix the spelling and add more info.

Blog - post - not really a blog - well sorta - Critical Mass performers needed, you know

<div>Well on e of the many things I'm doing right now is Critical mass.

Donia and I are looking to create an amazing performance directed by xavier of PC. However were not getting the response we need. So now I'm saying

WE NEED YOU to perform fire. Thats right, there will probably not be burn this year so a kick ass performance on Saturday that will represent the theme, and entertain the crowds is important. We can't do it without the performers. It's 4 weeks away. Please come and help

E-mail/msg me and I'll get you connected. Get off your duffs and do it. It's fun remember (and then it;s done and everyone will love you for it).

We also would like to see some good fire art at CM and if you can make it, do it, and want to, then get your ass up off that couch and do it. lets make happen.....Please. For me. I'll make it worth your time, cause if I'm happy I know how to share.

You get me......</div>

<div>If there is anyone who pays atttention to my blogging, I apologize for my lack of communication. I have been a bit Busy.

I'm almost done with the Fire Arts Expo in SF. Thursday and Friday went with out any serious hitches. a few bugs to squash, but nothing that was disatserious. Tonight is the last night an I may rest easy after.

It's funny I have worked so hard on this even that it is hard for me to take it all in objectivly. I seriously have have never been excited for an event like this to end before. The good news is I know that this is the case and with time I will be able to see how amazing this even was.

After this I work on Critical mass, working with Donia Love organizing fire peformers, scultures, and possible taking over the burn on some level (maybe not creation but organization).

Then onto he Fire Arts Festival in Oakland, This will be my 3rd year working with them on this. I have always enjoyed the work, and been happy to particpate. Jay is one of my favorite people to work with on production wll be running the stage again and I will be perfromer liasion and stage Safety coordinator. I will also be helping Belva work on a project for the finale of each night. That is July 13-15 ish (dates pulled out of air sorta).

Oh and I have a 4 foot lantern of amazing beauty and 32 Fire pots to make that will be going to the playa. I have collected about 7 people to help with the project who will learn and grunt and be my monkey's (some sexy, some cute, and some just ready to rock and roll). It should be a lot of fun. I'm glad I'm not doing the project alone, although I have before, I have noticed I like it when others come in and play with me...........yeah enough about that

so I also need to start paying attention to the drummers for the playa. I told them months ago that I would and I then got so busy with all the other things I need to do that I forgot about them. But the good news is, I think i will have the mental time for them soon.

there is more, and then some more, and then a little more. and somethings special on the side. It's a mad house of things, each collectivly filling my time. but it allows me to be the man I want to be, do the things I love and believe the money will follow. that the abilities of mine will be put to good use for the greater good, and will be appreciated. I know I already am, and loved I am as well. and gosh darn it.....People like me

Back to work

I prefered innocence

<div>the long walk with a mild purpose,

Last night I was broke and board, I don't own a car and needed to get out so I walked, first to Zoka's for coffee, then to a friends for a beer and chit chat, then on to another friends for an episode of carnival (the HBO show) and chit chat then home. (5 hrs of walking and talking)

Not crazy, but felt great except....

Oakland has affected me, It was hard walking though the dark places and not retuning my senses, allowing my mind to wander and just enjoy the stroll. I remember my ideal late night wandering through and really feeling relaxed, enjoying the things around me and not caring really what was out there.

Last night I wandered around Wallingford and kept alert, stayed on the main strips and walked with purpose apposed to my easy meander.

I spent two years in the Bay Area, I had two students mugged on the way to my class, saw 2 street beatings and then heard about things from friends. I felt threatened when I was there. Never really felt safe wandering around at night except with a crowd.

Now I'm worried I need to defend my self, plan exits from dark walkways, and wonder if I should take a self-defense class soon.

I think I preferred innocence, meaning the days when I knew what was happening, but felt more detached, less like it might happen to me.

I'm also back to blacksmithing and Zoka. And hopefully a bit more goofing off.

I'll be headed down to SF again May 15th and back again May 22nd. I'll be working lots for the Fire Arts Expo but hope to have some good times with some friends while I'm down there, so prepare, cause all work and no play makes Tabasco Sour.

Merry Meet, and Merry part in Maryland Again

<div>So I have traveled with Kari to Maryland to help mentally and physically (if need be) support her during her egg donation process. So far it has been easy. In the 24+ hrs I have been here I have learned a few things,
1- Loosing 3 hrs hurts, but might be easier than only loosing one. Haven’t decided yet.
2- Did you know you can't even beer in the grocery store’s here? The limited selection of beer that they have must be purchased in liquor stores. That’s right folks, so those of you from Washington, it's worse here, those of you in California, don't worry it's 3000 miles away, the icky weird liquor laws won't get you from here......

We rented a car, and ended up with a 2007 caliber (dodge). If you haven’t heard of it or seen it, well neither have I. It drives ok, and has tons of secret places to put stuff. It also seems to get 30 to 40 miles to the gallon so far. So we are not complaining.

The hotel, is a "extended stay" hotel which has Showtime 1 and 2, microwave, stove top, sink, full size fridge, king size bed, and a cute girl that likes to run around naked.

Tomorrow were going to go to DC and play a bit, look at the capitol of the free world, and possible puke. Hopefully I won’t get arrested for being funny looking, but considering the president…..

Today we are going to the beach to have a picnic, and relax in the sun…..

<div>Love her but let her go, cherish her but let her go, and remember don't tell her you love her, it hurts her.

Where do I go,

my heart is breaking

I don't agree with this, I'm not sure I can support her decision to be single.

She says I left her, I say she could have come with me.

Kari is the most important person ever to be in my life, and the thought that she feels the need to separate from me is devastating me. and then she asks me to support her in this decision, this is a one sided decision, how can I support her in this decision. I love her and cherish her and worship her, I don't want her out of my life, I don't want her to leave me, and yet here I am 700 miles away. If she doesn't answer the phone, if she doesn't answer my e-mails....... If I can't wrap my arms around her and let her know that it will be ok.

My heart is breaking,

I think I preferred when my blog was informative and separate from the emotions.

    </a>
										<div>It's was noted that I have a tendancie to keep my blog very informative about what I'm doing and not about what is going on in my head.....

Well, Blah

Right now I'm stressed, trying to find balance, I am working about 27 hrs a week at Zoka. The job was great, but has turned into an inconvenience that I use simply to help me pay my bills (this may be a today feeling). I'm working 25 to 30 hrs a week with Mike BS'ing. That’s great however I'm really wishing it didn't take me an hr to get to and from there every flipping time I went. It's stealing my time there and other places I would rather be. I'm also shoving what seems like 15hrs in there trying to work on the Fire Arts Expo, which could be fun if I didn't hate our time line. Everything is due yesterday, and although I try and spend a few hrs on it everyday, sometimes I just don't have the time.
I need to do things right, and if I'm not going to be able to, then I need to figure out what to drop. Unfortunately the thing I want to drop pays the bills right now. And some part of me loves Zoka, and making coffee. I love that art form, and for me it is art. Something I can do often when working there, but will not be able to do often if I stop.

Good news, I haven’t cracked yet and don't plan on doing it anytime soon. I'm here to do what I love and love what I do. My first commissioned piece (the pot rack) was picked up last Friday and taken home. After she got it there, she called me to let me know that it was "better than she imagined" and that "she loved it:" and she has plans for another project she would like for me to do. Mike and I opened our Business account (actually a joint account like a married couple until our Bus Lic come through) with that and the BM money we got. We have a couple of other projects in the works, and then The BM one. My fire hoops are more than popular, orders are coming in more often and I'm getting better and better feed back.

Spring is here, the geese are back at greenlake, allergies are ramping up for another season, and rain isn't in the air.

&amp;lt;SNIP>
&amp;lt;/SNIP>

well with that I'm going to go watch a stupid movie for 10 minutes with my room mate who just got home from 2 months in Bali Thailand, etc. Poor guy :)

    </a>
										<div>Woo hoooooooo,
    Pot racks are done.....well almost. All the metal work is done, I still have to clean them, and with stuarts help make some pot rack hooks (or am I helping him....) and I have to cut chain, alright the main part of the pot racks are done and I'll add finished pictures soon.

   Stuart came out on Thursday and had a good work day, he learned a bit about tapering, and scrolling (the real way) and then I put him on the power hammer. He's making the Pot rack hooks, for the ....yup you guessed it the pot racks. There are some pictures of him (and new ones of me) on my Flickr account (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tabasco/sets/72057594077279032/).

    I'm really excited, I got the first check yesterday for my BM project......woo hoo)

    I'm also a little stressed, so much to do, so little time..........but time enough I guess to try new things, and hang out with new people, and old friends (they could be old people, but thats just rude).

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/tabasco/blog/6499fd18-d75b-4350-a932-9e0f5d17b3be">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/da3/73e/da373e9d-0041-41a6-9236-b4d1396b3f32.thumb" width="58" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>So I finally finished the hard wraps on the second pot rack and now just have a few more things to do till I'm done with them. However I got a e-mail from Jennifer Steele yesterday who was desperate for more eating torches. She lost hers and has a show this weekend so needed them sent today. So, I managed to pop a couple of nice looking eating torches out and sent them along next day. Pictures are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/tabasco/sets/72057594077279032/ along with a couple if pictures of me in action taken by me (how’s that for ego). They got clean but I forgot to take pictures of them before shipping them.

I'm dragging Stuart out to the shop this Thursday for a bit, plan on showing him how to make pot rack hooks. He'll love doing them, well.... I need them done anyway and it's a good learning project. Speaking of learning projects.

As I mentioned in a previous blog (which I know so many of you read religiously..........
My burningman project has been approved. I'm making a 4' lantern that will transfer the fire from the center camp cauldron to the man on the night of the burn. There will also be 30 fire pots surrounding the man. the lantern will be used to light these.

So each firepot is going to be made differently (at least a little different) and I thought this might be a good opportunity to do a little teaching, having people come in once or twice a week to learn a bit and do a little work. after a few weeks, work on designs and then have those that I have been teaching make a fire pot. Interest so far has been limited, but I'm hoping to get 3-6 people involved total. Still working out the details, but that what time is for right....yeah

Bought my festival pass to the Seattle Erotic Fest today. My plan, buy tickets so I don't chicken out and not go. it just looks like it's going to be to much fun to miss. http://www.seattleerotic.org/ Now if only I could figure out what to wear.....

there it is mostly....

    </a>
										<div>So my project for the playa went through, I'll be making a 4 foot Tall lantern that will transfer the fire from the center camp cauldron to the man. Then 30 fire pots surrounding the man (That i make, or you make with me.... more on this later) will be lit. The fire performers will have a fire to light from...........OH I said besides Black Smithing

I'm starting to filter through performers for SF's Fire Arts Expo. I'll be helping to coordinate fire safety and making sure performers live up to their end. I'll also be one of the primary contacts with them.

I've sent out my first e-mail to the Drummers collective. a list of Drummers who will be providing Music for the fire performers around the man. Good response so far, I had a great time of it last year and plan on doing that again.

Also this week I'm meeting with Donia to discuss Critical Mass and the Fire dancing that may be happening there. She asked if I was interested in helping and of course I said Hell yeah. So I'll be meeting with her to figure out how.

Smoking... or rather being a non-smoker. So for about 4 weeks I was dieing, I needed that one cigarette a day, needed it. Waited for it. It took will power but I waited...then I would roll half of regular cigarette up and smoke it, so later I could roll the other half up and it was still only on cigarette. Uhhhhhhhmmmmm, what the fuck was that. A week ago I smoked my last half. It was this great big switch in my head, the difference between being a non-smoker and quitting. I was quitting, then this very beautiful woman says to me "I think non-smokers are sexy", 12 hrs later I became a non-smoker. yeah sometimes you just need a little adrenaline to help you push through. Now this time I'll keep it this way.

										<div>Told you I was gonna wrap, Unfortunately this place doesn't allow me to put up more than one picture at a time. So here is. More and before and after shots are @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/tabasco/sets/72057594072510598/ (same as previous blog, I just added more picture).

I also added an Irongypsy blogspot so you can see more a few more photo's in my profile.

(I have too much time on my hands, and have decided blogs are a good way....well a way anyway, to spend them).

The Pot Rack and more

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/tabasco/blog/c7e42dc9-7178-437c-8bd4-bac7438a28b5">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/0c2/c40/0c2c4005-ec8f-4c91-b944-e5eebaa06663.thumb" width="65" height="42" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>SO the pot rack I'm working on is going well. I keep referring to it as "the Pot rack" cause Someone ordered "A" pot rack. However I decided to make two pot racks at the same time, let the client choose her favorite and then sell the other one in. Anyway a few pictures can be found @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/tabasco/sets/72057594072510598/ - I was wrapping today, I'll be wrapping tomorrow, and probable for the next few days. this is the easy part that takes for ever. Then I'll wire brush, wire brush some more, and finally, do a little wire brushing. That is the other part that is easy but takes forever. (easy on the brain anyway).

Outside of that My Zoka weeks are a little shorter and better controlled and I'm looking forward to traveling down to the bay area soon (hopefully in March).

It also looks like I will be participating as fire performer safety coordinator and backstage something or other for Burningman's and BRAF's Fire Art Expo the weekend before my birthday in SF. That should be tons of fun, there is nothing like herding cats over e-mail. I really do enjoy it for some reason.

over and out
