Hey now - just got back from my second Bobolink Music Festival (there have been 4 of these or so)
As the first one, which I attended, it RAINED....lots...and during the prime part of the festival too!

I went with Joe Baker's Bay Recorders Organization and we had a great camp - it was fun to work together with all the crazies that made up the crew for the taping / cd duplication/ booth manning tasks...

What a crowd - I was confronted by one road-worn hippie telling me without any provocation on my part about "his first time he took acid"..
I walked away after saying thats cool brother man....didn't want to hear another story about that adventure, doubtless it would of been a long, perhaps boring story about the shape of a wine glass or some other profound concept.

Fun times!

Gotta say that Ivan Neville and crew are a fun bunch of crazy guys.
They tore it up in Moes Alley last week - it was packed with 250 plus tickets sold.

We did the eat-before-the-show thing - this time at Soif wine bar (expensive!)
James Welborn brought his college-days friend Sam to the show and Sam made LOTS of friends.

We went back to the house and drank more wine and played PS3 until 4 am!

What a night.

Who the hell pays 2 bucks for 10 seconds of SCI music for the phone?
http://www.scifidelity.com/ringtones/index.htm

It is, I know a major revenue stream - in the tens or hundreds of millions....yikes!

Hell, man you can MAKE ringtones for most phones free!!
My ringtones are bits from Phillip Glass compostions.
His appeggio heavy compositions make perfect phone rings imho...
I took the composition dance no 1 and edited it to be cycles of 5 instead of the 13 (or whatever it is) on the original..
Check it out:
http://www.philipglass.com/sounds/recordings/dance-no-1.mp3

Using any wave editor, its easy then save it and upload to phone > ringtone.
Not all phones will do this I hear...including the iphone.

Guess ya gotta pay 2 bucks for rainbow serpent ring tones.....ha ha (say like Nelson in the Simpsons)

new year - new job

Hey now
After a few months of no paycheck - but some hard work (Biodiesel) I start a new job on Tuesday January 9th.
I will be working at Universal Audio in Santa Cruz and best of all my workmates are Jimmy S. and Henry H., two folks I know from the 'taper community' or whatever its called now a days.

I am a little excited about working and having somewhere to go, etc. Being unemployed sometimes gets you a little down on yourself - especially in the daytime when everyone else is working and you are still in your pajamas at 10 am. I didn't exactly feel successful sitting there reading the business section of the NY Times while I am not participating in anything to do with what I am reading.

Then again, I started to not really care too much about it after a while and THAT is when I thought I should do something.

Met again with my friend Jamie - who is the founder of Simple Fuels and we're on track to begin fuel production this year. I am excited for the future

Still working on Biodiesel - we have a site for our first retial fuel pump selected and tomorrow we're going to the SPARKS city office to get all our ducks in a row...whoo hooo

Still this is a tough nut to crack...the petroleum industry and the big boys all cooperate to freeze out small time players like us....we'll show em, I guess...

Glad to see that Jessica runs her TDI Jetta on Biodiesel - you rock girl!!
I filled up the Dodge Ram 3500 I have with biodiesel and it smelled GOOD instead of TOXIC..

Headed home to the bay area after that meeting in Sparks....should be good.
THEN Thievery Corporation ! ! (THURSDAY night in SF)

Whoo Hooo

Freakin amped up about this one
My first time at JazzFest - for someone like me, I already know that I am going to LOVE IT.

First of all, I love the music - and lately thats all I have been seeing live is rooted here.

Most of my favorites will be in town - Robert Walter, Skerik, etc.
Many great folks will also be there - and am so looking forward to seeing everyone there.

I love good food and want to know what the hell is up with this fairground food.
A SOLID week of music - I think I should see close to 60 shows in the 8 days I am there.

The schedule is being developed with the jazzfestgrids website - thanks to Jen B for the link!!
