My Blog

Our beloved bunny Taco passed away yesterday in a very sudden and tragic accident. He was a four pound ball of affection and attitude who did binkies when he heard flamenco guitar and came out to watch rap videos when they played on the TV. We will miss him chasing his towel around in the mornings, chilling out on his favourite corner on the carpet at night, "helping" fold the laundry, and poking us gently with his nose to remind us to bring him his greens, hay, and pellets. We will even miss his chewing on our shoes, wires, and furniture, and would gladly trade all those in to have him back for just a little longer. He was curious and feisty to the very end.

Taco, I'm so sorry about what happened; your departure has left a very lonely and empty space in our hearts and home. We will treasure the companionship you have given over the last five years and will love you forever. May your spirit now be hopping freely in endless fields of fresh herbs and baby greens.

a string on a musical instrument can start to resonate sympathetically when a note is played that is of a frequency that is the same or related to its own. music can similarly cause sympathetic resonance in the listener, and dancing is a way of physically connecting with this. many of the shapes we make with our bodies in belly dancing reflect patterns and movements in nature -- circles, undulations, shimmies; the figure 8 is like the mathematical symbol for infinity. I like to think that dancing is a form of vibrating sympathetically with the world around us.

Re: Pushing through blocks/finding motivation (in The Indigo Belly Dance) for tasks that require some sort of output from YOU (ie writing an essay) one of the best ways to clear a block is to allow yourself to start off by producing ANYTHING, no matter how crappy it seems. just let the ideas flow and write them down. ... read more

Re: GBD Music Selection : Metal (in Gothic Belly Dance) "Watered down is what EVERYONE is. "

You can also think of this as having hybrid vigour, with all the mixing resulting in stronger strains rather than perpetuating the existing limitations that exist in "pure" lines ;)

Re: Vegan Tom Kah Gai (in Vegetarian &Vegan Recipe Exchange) sounds yum!

some cookbooks say that you can use a bit of grated lime peel if you can't find lime leaves.
