A difficult, immediate situation in Vietnam, has arisen. Nobel Peace Prize Nominee Thich Nhat Hanh's Vietnam-based Bat Nha monastery is under severe economic, violent, and governmental pressure to abandon the monastery by September 2. The cause: Two statements supporting religious freedom, a core principle of democracy.

For that, they have been harassed day and night with loud speakers, threatened that they would be killed on July 5th by 400 tribal people with metal sticks or sickles, had their electricity and water cut off, their homes robbed, and have suffered innumerable verbal abuses. The monastery serves as a training and practice center in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh's home monastery, Plum Village in France.

These 400 Monastics who practice Thich Nhat Hanh%u2019s teachings are all Vietnam citizens. These gentle, peaceful creatures seek to sooth the world's ills, bridge understanding between all faiths, and spread greater world, human and environmental peace. The love they bring to the table is simply amazing to behold.

The Vietnamese government cannot point to one specific reason for the nuns and monks to be evicted from their home. They have cited ownerships issues, failure to pay the electric bill and a myriad of other manufactured reasons.

The nuns and monks, all Vietnam citizens .As of 26th of August 2009, they are approaching their 9th week without water and electricity

Please act on behalf of global human rights and Viet Nam and peace. Please stop this violence and help save Bat Nha Monastery now. We are hoping that US political pressure and community activists who are being mobilized online will help them keep their home. At a minimum, they believe an extension beyond the Sept. 2, 2009 deadline will support them in taking peaceful, non violent action to work with local officials.

As you know, Vietnam has a troubled history. The best thing we could possible do for this country is fight to keep this soothing salve in place, quietly working its magic of openness, peace and tolerance. And let's try to prevent another horrific act of violence and bloodshed in Vietnam's history.

I recommend working with Tarot Cards (intuition tools) that both motivate and inspire you. After all, you get to choose your cards. And like choosing friends, you want to pick ones that help and support you on your life path in a positive way.

Here’s a list of my favorite Tarot Decks, in no particular order:

1. Motherpeace Tarot Cards-by Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble

A good everyday deck, and good for learning the tarot with. Motherpeace cards are round and enable the Reader to provide a very holistic/earthy and precise vision of what’s going on. This is the deck I learned on, and the deck I use the most for Readings for myself and others.

2. Osho Zen Tarot-by Osho

A good everyday deck, and good for learning the tarot with. The Osho cards offer a Zen Buddhist perspective that I find to be very helpful when I’m looking for a deeper introspective understanding. The card images on this deck tell a story.

3. Tarot of the Four Elements-by Isha Lerner

A good everyday deck, and good for learning the tarot with. This deck is so colorful and vibrates life. This deck really gives the 4 elements of the minor arcana a voice.

4. Vibrational Healing Cards-by Rowena Pattee Kryder

I’ve had this deck a long time. Though you can create spreads with it, I use it for one card meditative readings and or as single root cards to support full Readings with other cards. The lessons of these cards are energy lessons. These cards go beyond the paradigm of major and minor arcana cards. They present profoundly deep lessons for spiritual growth and evolution.

5. Cosmic Deck of Initiation-by Barbara M. Delong

I’ve also used this deck for a long time. Though you can create spreads with it, I use it for one card meditative readings and or as single root cards to support full Readings with other cards. These cards are round and offer lessons that include titles like: Universal Healing, Law of Cause and Effect, Healer Within, Sower of Seeds…

6. Medicine Cards-by Jamie Sams, David Carson, and Angela C. Werneke

A favorite deck of mine. I use this deck for spreads and one card Readings. The images connect you to the lessons of North American Animals. The book that comes with this deck is so helpful in that it explains the animal lessons with text, verse, and stories carried down by oral tradition.

7. The Kabbalah Deck-by Edward Hoffman

This deck and the book that comes with it introduced me to the meaning of Hebrew Letters. I use this deck for spreads and one card meditation Readings when I’m in need of deeply introspective/esoteric information.

8, Goddess Tarot-by Kris Waldherr

This deck is beautifully rendered and teaches female wisdom from many cultures. It can be used for spreads, one card meditations, and for learning tarot.

9. Medicine Woman Tarot-by Carol Bridges

A down to earth deck good for spreads and one card Readings. This deck would also be good to learn tarot with. The card images present a good balance between male and female energy.

10. Mana Cards: The Power of Hawaiian Wisdom-by Catherine Becker

This deck was given to me as a gift when I was on the Big Island. The cards carry the stories of indigenous Hawaiian lessons. I use this deck for spreads and one card Readings.

11. The I Ching:

I love the I Ching. This system seems to help me when I’m looking for insight about how to respond to something I’m experiencing.

Buy the I Ching Book of Changes translated by Wilhelm/Baynes and throw coins or…

Learn to do the long version of I Ching with yarrow sticks. For this I recommend The I Ching Workbook Gift Set: The I Ching Workbook + 50 Yarrow Stalks-by Wu Wei. This set has everything you need and really clear directions.

<div>The heading says it all. Please take this step to stop the practice of caging animals in cages so small they can't turn around or extend their limbs. This practice must not go on a moment longer. The humane society is sponsering this and is finally bringing this issue to the polls. Now all we have to do is vote it through.

Thank you for taking a stand and doing everything you knew how to do to try to protect the ancient grove in Berkeley.

Perspective Tarot students often tell me that they really want to learn Tarot but for some reason they have a hard time sitting still with their cards. I ask them if they love their cards and they'll say no. Ah then this is the problem. You have to love the cards that you're about to work with and through.

Let's define what Tarot cards are and how they are used. Tarot cards fall into the category of intuitive or divination tools. Like diagnostic indicators, they inform the Reader through symbolism what is currently happening. Most Tarot cards are representations of two worlds:

-The world of universal truths and life lessons as depicted in the major arcana cards

-The world of learning those lessons in your every day life as depicted in minor arcana cards

The original Tarot deck, as far as we can tell, was created during the 1400's in medieval times. But nobody can agree on the origins of tarot, or how far back its symbolism really goes. Symbolism has been a means to transmit cultural wisdom since ancient times. The symbols represent natural forces from the cosmos to the earth. Attributes of humanity show up symbolically in all cultures. It's hard to know which symbols started where. For example the many armed Hindu deities of ancient India carry symbols or attributes including the lotus, mirror, fire, bell, trident …. Some carry the sword, bowl, rod, and disc, which are seen in tarot cards we use today. Symbols of wisdom and the natural elements are seen throughout the world. Teaching and learning through the oral tradition and symbols is at the heart of Tarot reading.

So, how do you choose the right deck for you?

Since the 1960's Tarot cards have grown to encompass many paths and stories. The Rider-Waite deck, which still echoes a culture of kings queens knights and pages is by far not the only choice. I personally use decks that represent cultural paradigms that resonate true within myself. I like to use earthy round cards that keep me connected to life and harmonic life cycles. The war cultures represented in the Rider-Waite though it may resonate for some, is not my choice.

Look at the images on the cards and see what story they are telling. There are many many ways to be in the world. Who you are and the energy you want to support in yourself should be taken into consideration when making your final selection.

Choose a deck that inspires you. Choose one that makes you feel uplifted just by looking at it. Look at the major arcana cards. Are they representing the world as you experience it? Even though you may not understand the specifics of the symbolism depicted on these cards, decide if they resonate with you on every level.

Tarot cards represent one way that symbols are expressed. They are guides. They open doors to much more exploration. The cards point to life. They represent moving and changing dynamics…they help you to see what is already present.

Life is always speaking to us…we need only to listen.

    </a>
<div>From my experience Intuition is natural. It encompasses all of our senses, the ones we know about and ones that are more subtle. Intuition is part of our survival mechanism. It helps us to see what is around us and is not bound by time or distance.

Some feel Intuition in their bodies, some hear it in their mind, some see it in their dreams, visions, and waking time, and all of us get those premonitions from time to time that tell us that our senses are working.

We all know the feeling when we know something wonderful or not so wonderful is about to happen. With Intuition it's much easier to know if you should move towards, or away from something or someone.

Trusting your Intuition means you are listening to your whole self. Allowing yourself to listen deeply helps you to stay on your authentic path. It helps you to be real and integrated.

When you develop your intuition you are clearing your ability to receive information you can trust. Intuition is always there waiting to come to your assistance.

Jeannie is a sweetie. She's got this extremely feminine kind of wisdom thing going on that's part earth mother, part sorceress, part siren. The combo is unbeatable. She knows what she's doing with those cards, and her interpretation is always down-to-earth, savvy, and helpful.

TIBET – CHINA
Dalai Lama “concerned” about violence in Tibet caused by Chinese repression
The spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and head of Tibet’s government-in-exile urges protesters not to resort to violence, calling on Beijing to respond with dialogue to the remands made by protesters. Unconfirmed sources claim that ten people have died in the clashes.

Dharamsala (AsiaNews) – The Dalai Lama is “deeply concerned over the situation that has been developing in Tibet following peaceful protests in many parts of Tibet, including Lhasa, in recent days.” For our spiritual guide, these “protests are a manifestation of the deep-rooted resentment of the Tibetan people under the present governance,” this according to Thubetn Samphel, spokesman for the Tibetan government-in-exile, who spoke to AsiaNews about reports concerning clashes that have taken place near Tibet’s major monasteries.

Local sources report that the Chinese army has deployed tanks in the Tibetan capital’s downtown. Anti-riot units have cleared away protesters led by monks; some have reported that “shots have been fired.”

American tourists also reported they heard “shooting in Lhasa.” Some unconfirmed reports refer to ten people killed during the clashes.

Some buildings in Old Lhasa are said to be on fire.

For Samphel the Dalai Lama “always said, unity and stability under brute force is at best a temporary solution. It is unrealistic to expect unity and stability under such a rule and would therefore not be conducive to finding a peaceful and lasting solution.”

In his appeal, the Buddhist leader called on “the Chinese leadership to stop using force and address the long-simmering resentment of the Tibetan people through dialogue.”

“The Dalai Lama,” he said, also “urged his fellow Tibetans not to resort to violence.”

As a government-in-exile, “we reiterate that all this is from a peaceful protest and call on the international community to intercede with Beijing so that it can immediately stop its violent repression, resulting from its attempt to deny the rights of the Tibetan people.”</div>

    </a>
<div>I'm in a flurry of research right now, working on my book. The chapter I am writing is about learning from the ones who came before us. At first you may think that means those who are no longer alive~our ancestors. And this in part is true. Might we also consider the ones who have been here longer on the earth than humans? Some would say that because humans are relatively new creations they are not as experienced with life in this world. Stones, Trees, Elephants, Cats, Birds, Whales for example have been here longer.

Why don't we learn from them? Why don't we listen to the experienced and wiser Ones? </div>

    </a>
										<div>National Indian Council on Aging

This Message to America is the result of the National Indian Council on Aging's Year 2000 Conference in Duluth, Minnesota. More than 1,200 Elders from 105 tribes across America attended and contributed to the words in this message. As you read this, think about our Elders. They came together in a true spirit of cooperation, setting aside tribal and political differences so that we and our children might have words of wisdom to help throughout our lives. Please forward and pass this message to as many people as you can, both Native and non-Native. These are the words of Native American Elders, but the values expressed in this message can be appreciated by all of humanity.

Spiritual Message from Elders

As we stand before the dawn of a new millennium, we pray for America's survival, our survival.

We pray that we will be given strength by the Creator to follow the footsteps of our forefathers to share our love, respect and compassion for one another. There is good in everyone because our Creator has put a little of Himself in all of us.

We pray for forgiveness for the pain and suffering we have caused one another.

We pray that our children will not repeat our mistakes.

We pray that we can respect the diversity of America; all life is sacred. Every child born is a precious gift of our Creator. It is our sacred trust to embrace children from all walks of life because we are part of the same family.

We pray that children will honor and respect their Elders-that is where the wisdom comes from. This respect will not allow forgotten Elders. We are all equal, with each having our own special gift to contribute. These values allow our youth to become leaders and workers in our society. Children, you are our future and our hope for the people. Stand and be courageous.

We pray to learn and use the wisdom of all that has come before us, to achieve personal successes and to contribute to those of others. Only when our young ones learn respect for everything can they evolve.

Earth

We pray for respect and love of Mother Earth because she is the foundation of human survival and we must keep her pollution-free for those who will travel after us. Protect her water, air, soil, trees, forests, plants and animals.

Do not just take and waste resources. Make it a priority to conserve.

The land is given to us by the Creator to care for, not to own. If we take care of the land, the land will take care of us.

Unity

We should have respect for each other. We pray for commitment and responsible behavior in order to help those in need and to give them support and friendship. Be an example in life that others may follow; serve people, community and country.

We should all strive to be a leaders and contributors. Do not sit back and let others plan and do all the thinking.

Let us unite together so that we may have the strength to protect our future. Strength comes from working through trials and tribulations.

Health

Spiritual health is the key to holistic health.

We pray to have the discipline to set healthy examples for our children to follow.

Respecting everyone and everything in the universe starts with self-respect.

Take time to listen and take care of your body and spirit.

Family and Youth

Family is important and precious. Always let them know that they are loved.

Let your children and grandchildren know you are always there to love and support them and that they mean the world to you no matter what they do or say. Children are of infinite value.

Live what you teach. Spiritual values, honesty, and integrity start in the home.

We pray for the youth. We must teach the youth to work together and respect all that is living on our Mother Earth.

We need to convey to our younger generations that the survival of our people lies in spirituality.

Peace

We pray to learn ways to settle differences peacefully.

Teach respect for each other's ideas. Value honesty on all levels, from children to parents to community to governments. We will be happy when we create peace with each other.

To the Seventh Generation

Survive
Keep hopes and dreams
Take care of yourself
Remember your spirit
Be there for each other
Respect courage
Share knowledge
Always keep learning
Remember your true values

<div>My question was what is the best way for me to be in the world.

The Receptive~2~all Yin lines

Sunday, February 10th, 2008 9:01am PST

Your Present Hexagram

Great receptivity attracts exceptional results. A natural responsiveness brings about success through support and perseverance, rather than through bold action. Thus, the wise person demonstrates strength like a powerful but gentle mare. This hexagram, consisting of all yin lines, represents a power of the feminine principle no longer honored in our modern world, but such receptivity is most auspicious.

The receptive force is sensual as well as powerful, and it can be missed by too much talk and planning. When spring comes, does the grass "plan" to grow? This is a time to concentrate on realities rather than potentials - with how to respond to a situation rather than how to direct it. The mature mare lets herself be guided by a higher power, and is skilled at graceful acceptance. In a strong spiritual way, her quiet contribution is most effective, and brings success.

Do not be too assertive at this time, for if you try to direct things, you are liable to become confused or alienated. Take your time. Draw strength from carefulness and you will be doubly fortunate. Focus more on feeling than on action. Be broad and deep in your attitudes so that you can accept everything that comes your way with grace and equanimity. Be receptive and spacious like the ocean; let the river of changing developments flow to you. Allow others to take the lead for now. Strive for a pure natural responsiveness that is based on inner strength rather than outer show.</div>

<div>Would love to hear inspiring thoughts and stories.

I have good news. I've completed the first draft of my book that I've been working on for 7 years now. It's all in the computer and almost 600 pages. Wow! I'm reading it now for the first time. This is my biggest writing so far. I started out as a poet.

I am inspired that my dream of writing a book is coming to fruition. It took consistant work over the years and now it's added up to something I feel very good about.

I'm guessing I'll need at least until the end of the year to edit. That will be the fun part for me.

love,

										<div>When women were trees
We breathed the world in and out
We knew everyone and everyone knew us
Every time we sang
Life came easily

When women were rain
We danced between the earth and sky
We knew everyone and everyone knew us
Every time we slid into the soil
Life came easily

When women were lava
We’d rise from the center of the world
Blood flowing from our heart
We knew everyone and everyone knew us.
Every time our heart would beat
Life came easily

When women were mountains
Mother arms around the world
Our bones grew into eagle sky
We knew everyone and everyone knew us
Every time we meditated
Life came easily

Let it all in
Let it all out
Breathe Breathe Breathe

(This is a poem I wrote to comfort myself during a difficult period of time in 2002. As I read it today, I am so thankful that during those days I could remember where I came from. I sensed then that if I connected fully to my deepest self my balance would return. As I post this today, I know I am living much more closely to life. And I'm in awe of how powerfully healing feminine life force is.)

Peace to you in your life journey,

										<div>Chenrezig
The Buddha of Infinite Light - Amitabha, one day realized that in order to help all mankind a Deity in the form of a young man should be created. From his right eye came a beam of pure white light that took the form of Chenrezig. He also realized the necessity to have a female Deity, and a beam of pure green light came from his left eye giving creation to Tara.

When Chenrezig looked on mankind with his absolute compassion, he saw that mankind faced many problems - pride, jealousy, hardships, desire, illness etc. Chenrezig said 'As long as there is even one being who has not attained awakening, I will strive for the benefit of all. And if I break this promise, may my head and body be split into a thousand pieces!'

Chenrezig's Four Arms and Hands signify the Four Immeasurables - those being Immeasurable Loving Kindness, Immeasurable Compassion, Immeasurable Joy and Immeasurable Equanimity.

<div>I feel the shift happening in me. I'm moving towards eating vegetarian. It seems to happen every 7-8 years or so. I just don't want to eat meat. This time I really want to add to my consciousness and would like to take a vegetarian cooking class in San Francisco. Anyone know of any good teachers/classes?

Also maybe good books to help me along.

thank you,
