If you want clean water, then stop buying plastic bottled water.

<div>As much as bottle water seems like a pristine source of clean water. Is it really? First of isn't it a way of monopolizing our precious yet abundant source of water. And by bottling them it is creating plastic waste. Why? Because plastic bottle can only be recycled 7 times after which they become so down graded that they are no longer suitable for use, and of course they end up at the dump. polluting our environment.

Also much of the plastic bottles leaches hormone disrupting chemicals into the water. So they are actually not very healthy.

Water would be clean if we didn't dump so much junk into it.

I remember growing up there were faucets for drinking water in public parks, hallways of bldgs, department stores, etc.
Whatever happened to them. I rarely see them.

Maybe some people would find find carrying water bottle too bulky. Here's an intermediate solution for such:

Platypus collapsible water bottle:
http://www.rei.com/product/617927

I can think of a zero waste solution other than carrying a glass jar that is 100% recyclable.
The next best thing would be to find a durable enough water container that can be bought, and used almost indefinitely hence not becoming a waste.

<div>
First off,.... Hurray, finally we have a president, that CAN speak intelligently,
and with such rare humility and warmth towards his oppositions.
I think we've a new era coming on.

There's shit loads of work to be done, but we have hope at last!

Anyway aside from that here's something that I find as amazing:

Dr. John Hagelin
http://www.hagelin.org/

Talking about peace on quantum level:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsvEkPNitdQ

John Hagelin is a quantum physicist that has done some research on "Peace"
from a scientific perspective. I found this guy to be nothing but amazing.

(There are some sketisism surrounding his works. But then think,
who has ever succeeded in anything with having faith in themselves?
If you say you can't, then surely that will be the result that you will draw.)

There are quite a few people that are on to this kinds of work out there.
I picked this particular clip, because I like the way he explains it without getting too complicated

I had to ask around.
And the OM store on Shattuck had it.

there was only one store out of maybe or more that carried any massage
about the current affair of Tibet, China, Darfur... I was shocked!
How could these people be so apathetic, and/or ignorant...
I also noticed that they didn't carry any Tibetan flags,

plants - and its season

<div>Here's another thoughts to play with.
I went to Rainbow today and got this herb that I enjoyed making tea with. And I read upon it to see what drew me to it, and it happens to bloom right around my birthday. So the question here is: Does plants fruition/blooming season coincide with people's birth dates as well?

Perhaps botanists and astrologers would be able to come up with a much stronger conclusion than mine, but maybe you can do the same, and pay attention to it's season and how you body reacts to it.

Other factors to consider.
I'm sure there's a cultural aspects too like what you were brought up with(habits, and the body evolving/adapting to diet that your ancestor has gotten used to consuming through many generations.)

Plants innate intelligence vs Human's learned intelligence (partially artificial intelligence)

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/technoshaman/blog/de2f1685-e5d8-486b-8c3c-2c80abeb100b"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/e39/c75/e39c7561-8aac-4877-8db7-70d15836dd80.thumb" width="65" height="60" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>Plants don't have a brain, yet they grow perfectly, and perhaps intelligently... towards the Sunlight, even cleaning the atmosphere, while retaining moisture that creates habitats for other creature to comfortably live under.... Wow, all that multi-tasking!

Humans on the other hand have much distractions, and stray much easily from their path(whatever that is)... most can hardly contribute as much as plant lives can provide for the rest of the Earth's inhabitants....

I have a suspicion that everything is programmed perfectly to function except the brain.

Brain; a tool with high capability, but probably most misused....

The new cellphone alike have multitude of unnecessary functions and are more susceptible to viruses, tampering, and screw ups.

Less is more, maybe so.... from another view I think that having a brain is not necessarily better or worse, it just comes with more responsibility... it's that much easier to screw up, and have a bigger impact. (I guess that's what's called Freewill, the chance to mess up, or do things unpredictably well)

I wrote artificial intelligence within the title because humans are starting to depend more on artificial products to aid/replace their brain functions... eg. How many people can still write perfectly(without spelling mistakes, and legibly) that rely on MSWords/computers to write with?.... amongst many other subtle skills that we are loosing daily as technology advances to replace/enhance it.

This is just some of thoughts that went through my head and I'm not being very scientific I realize... I'm just playing with ideas.
So feel free to ad to this thread.... especially if you have ideas that you think needs lights shown on.

<div>I went up to Whole Earth festival last weekend. And about 5 years ago there used to be various rocking after parties in this little town.
But somehow everything has changed, most parties couldn't get off the ground.... there were mellow. Yet the cops would show up and put an end it.... I remember this cop writing a ticket for noise complaint, not one, but generously offered to issue another ticket, lest people dispersed in the next half an hour.

So what's new it's a conservative, pseudo-progressive, wannabe-Berkeley town...the cops there have very little else to do, but bust up parties... nothing's new....

but still I remember people used to be able to have a really rocking party until something like 5am. These short lived funs are memorable. And if it weren't for those times, Davis would be a very boring place where people just look you up and down if you're slightly different, or don't fit the cookie cut types.

Cool fun party houses, and the fun parties are no more....., cool people that used to throw theses parties.... either gone, or changed.
This festival only happens once a year, yet the authorities, and residents in this town couldn't tolerate it.....
If you can't party in this town once a year then when will you?
Has Davis completely changed? Or perhaps it has become more of what it's always been.

NYE is around the corner... what to do?

<div>So here we go again, the New Year is just around the corner, I'm looking for cool stuff to do. But all the parties are f#$%ing expensive.
Not to mention the fact that they tend to revolve around booze, that's cool if that's your thing.
I'm starting to see that most parties are pretty predictable, a couple rooms with DJs blasting away from from start to finish.

I remember the time when there were more undergrounds, and partying didn't cost a fortune. They're were affordable, and really memorable. You'd get in and booze were sometimes available, or you'd bring your own. There were DJs and people just jamming away.
But it was never boring. There were all sorts of fun inteligent freaks, that really stood out.
I wasn't a contest about how much fake fur and attitudes you could wear. People showed up with a really diverse range of ideas(a girl brought over an empty picture frame dressed as Frida Kahlo, another guy decide to put dots everywhere on his overalls, not fancy but orginal, and unussual)
So whatever happened to all that.....

To stroke or not to stroke is besides the point, but where! makes all the difference

<div>
Years ago I went to the Folsom Street Faire, infamous for men in leather amongst other things.
Standing on a street corner waiting for my friend to show up. Two men in leather clads showed up, without saying a word one of the man gets down to giving the other man a BJ. Being that it's Folsom Street Faire, This isn't exactly inappropriate, but they could have at least asked, before making me their honorary voyeur. But, nope, there's not such concern amongst them.

So, ....Where do you stroke? ask if in doubt, and observe your surrounding at the very least. </div>

The emergence of the serial Mantra strokers

<div>Mantra stroking, is an art form of self validating, mostly to his/her ownself than other. This is common amongst trendy spiritual pratitioners.
By mantra stroking daily they make them self heard. Their intensity can be shared with their arch rival soap-box-mounting, Christians.

Skinny tires -vs- Market St (downtown)

<div>On the way to meet a friend, I was biking up Market St
near 2nd Street. Cars
were moving ever so sluggishly... attempting to make
right turn... so I do a
lane change towards the center to pass them. And
everything is groovy I'm
flying by them, thinking to myself "why doesn't
everyone do that, it's so
much easier to move forward if they just when
around"..... And lo and behold
the next moment my wheels are starting to sink into
these gigantic
grills.... This is where my friends have flown over
their handle bars with
their wheels stuck in those tire traps.... I managed
to barely slow down in
time to get out of the inevitable head smash to those
bloody grills. Yep,
all I've got is just one flat tire, and a pound of
wisdom.

SF could really use a more bicycle friendly grills, as
wellas those metal
"manhole" covers. (peoplehole cover sounds slightly
weird to me, maybe it
could be called streethole cover or something)</div>

<div>here's an interesting read that I've just come accross, I've heard the concept of blocking certain sites, and allowing other sites to down load easly by the internet provider. I heard about this one a while back when Comcast was trying to renew it contract with the city.
It seems like we need to pay attention to the so called "freedom" more than ever these days.... have a read, be informed, and stay visulant.
