I know a lot of people are confused about the border,
I was too, so i looked it up.

Apparently we Canadians can still cross to the US
over land (not by air) with two pieces of valid ID

There's no set date on their site, but the general understanding seems to be that before or by June 2009, we will all likely need chip-enabled passports to do the same:
