George is a super master jedi who plays the banjo with ferocity. When he is in a room, others present likely wish to become him, without, of course, the jarring knowledge of the bodily/cognitive shift that would likely to raise the bar of one's consciousness to such an extreme degree that one's psyche would dissipate into the ether even if the physical switch were permanently successful. A master architect with a cornucopia of inspired ecological ideals, George takes his genius in humble stride--so humble that one may at times wonder if there is more than a fine line between brilliance and idiocy. Perhaps George is among the first to suggest that indeed the line is a vast ocean with multiple dimensions.

Arts: Producing ‘Miss Saigon’ On the Cheap Pays Off, By: Ken Bullock
You can buy a toy helicopter at the Dollar Store, but Ten Red Hen Productions has beaten that price and delivered the goods in the form of The 99-cent Miss Saigon at the Willard Middle School Metalshop Theater, with much, much more (although the program cover displays a tiny ‘copter propelled by big chopsticks into a wide-open mouth as its prou...

Here's a project I've been working on over the last couple of years detailing various facets of commercial green buildings. Some of these projects are pretty cool, but none of them reach the level of inspiration or innovation which I'm aspiring towards. Nonetheless any step in the right direction should be commended.
If you've ever been curious about Green Buildings and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), take some of the tours and you'll get a nice snapshot. In the...

Last night's opening went really well. We'll see how the reviews go. Triple Point showed up and supported us. The nerves really kick in when my friends are in the audience. There wasn't a place in the audience where I couldn't see someone I knew, so I stared right into the followspot and now I think I've burned a hole in my retina.
Should you be curious about the show, take a look at some of the pictures shot by Stephen Chan.

The roof over my garage is the perfect spot for growing Herbs and Veggies. Southern exposure, kitchen window view. As a means towards achieving that vision, I'm helping James Kalin pro totype the Green Roof on the LBOW project. In my system, run-off water will fall into the Slow Sand Filter. I'll have to check with a structural engineer to make sure I can support the additional weight.
James showed me the GreenGrid ( www.greengridroofs.com) trays going on the LBOW roof. It's ...

As part of the LBOW (LEED Building on Wheels), we're prototyping the green roof/gray water system at my cottage. James dropped off the Slow-Sand Filter at the house 3 weeks ago. Kitchen sink water is considered blackwater in California codes.
"These slow sand filters provide individual households with safe drinking water from surface water sources. Our patented SSFx* provides up to 450 gallons per day, and the SSF-1.25 supplies up to 1.25 gallons per minute, or 1800 gallons per day -...
