My Bullshit Ramblings...

this SUCKS...!!!!

...and I won't put the word TRIBE in the header neither. If I do, then I'll probably get "censored" or worse...DELETED. I came to tribe.net around 2003, mainly for the fact that I hated the way FRIENDSTER ran their site. Things like deleting profiles that they "determined" weren't real, but ya wanna know something, someone went to the effort to build that profile up and establish a network of people. Also, since there were so many people on it, it moved really slooow. I guess they didn't anticipate the phenom they had created. But it was a good thing, it was a great way to network with new people and friends along with catching up with folks you hadn't been in contact with for quite some time. It was great...until Friendster started to become a bunch of Nazi (or is it Commies). Does anyone still use it...?

Tribe was a great alternative - at that time. I enjoyed the way the set up was, there were cooler people on it, and everyone just seemed to gel with everyone. All the tribe groups were great at exchanging ideas and discussing common (or uncommon) interests. The photo section was like your own public photo album - meaning no censorship. But I knew sooner or later that had to change, no biggie - I could deal with that. ( As with the free porn that was available to all, but I understood why it couldn't be available to all).

Alot of my friends from outside the Bay Area weren't too keen on tirbe mainly for that fact that it was an "SF thing". True. But it was improving, or so I thought. The layouts kept on changing, at first no problem. As a matter of fact, I kinda liked the way you could dress up your public page - but then again, it was very limited. The layout was changed again - which is the current one you have. I gave it a chance, a couple of months to be exact, and now I completely HATE this lay out. It's NOT user friendly and it's just plain BORING.

Needless to say, I've moved on...again. This time to - you guessed it - MYSPACE. Yes, they do censor their photos. Yes, there are a ton of KIDS on it. Yes, their forums are filled with a bunch of losers hidding behind their keyboards. And yes, their are certain pages that crashes your browser or makes it move super slow. Even though I've joined MYSPACE roughly around the same time I joined tribe. Tribe, as I mentioned, was better, mainly for the fact of the maturity level.

BUT, MYSPACE is a helluva lot more fun than tribe solely for the enjoyment of building your own personal page - adding music and vids to it, and networking with MORE people than tribe could ever imagine. MYSPACE also offers a great way for music geeks to show off. Blogging and posting events are far superior to tribe. Why? 'cause there are more people you probably know that are on MYSPACE.

I know I'm starting to sound like an ad, but seriously, I don't know what or why the creators of tribe are not giving their users what they really want. What that is, well, I really can't tell you. All I know is that I'm not satisfied with tribe anymore and that's a crying shame. It was fun when it was, well, fun.

oh I'll still be here (unless I get deleted). There are some tribes that I like getting info, but it now seems that only the same people are posting...and I mean the EXACT same people. Tribe is dead, or at least it's dying, if you still love it here you better do what you can to try and save it. And if you're on MYSPACE shoot me a note for an add:

what he said
Yea, I just joined MySpace like a month or two ago, after tribe made these changes. I had always resisted MS, but after these changes tribe made, my old argument "tribe is better" didn't hold water anymore.
MS is far superior to tribe in terms of networking. They've got like 60 Million people on it. But one thing that tribe does have on MS, is far superior posting in discussion groups. It's because Tribe is set up around 'tribes' but in MS 'groups' is an after-thought.
I don't even use tribe anymore for anything but discussion groups, I do all my messaging of friends and catching up with old friends on MS now.
So yes, Ted, everything you said is true.
