She rules the roost with an iron wing in a velvet glove. She will pluck out your eyes and leave you begging for more! I love this woman!

the hen is the coolest chicken I know. she makes it happen, she wields a megaphone with terrifying brilliance. She taught me how to wear a sari and I deeply admire her insane intelligence in the face of a freek-filled world!

Hen breaks it off and lays it down like it's no business but hers. She has a licence to wield the sharp pointy stick of death, but let's hope that she never has to use it.

If only they accidentally invaded Austria as well. Now THAT would have been a good headline.

Let's face it, most Americans can't get through the 911 Commission's report. Like all government reports, it's a pain to wade through.

The 911 Commission has authorized a graphic adaptation (yes, comic book style) of their report, including their final "report card" on the administration's response to their recommendations. Whatever your opinion of the official findings, this is an unprecedented attempt to publish them in a format that most people can absorb, which is an incredible piece of history.

You can see sample pages and more information on the book's Amazon page:

If you or someone you know gives or receives charity gifts, I thought I'd post about this for the holidays. Heifer.org is a charity where you can sponsor an animal or animals for a family in need. There are all different levels of gifts, with animals used for different purposes (e.g. meat, milk, burdens, crop pollination). They also provide trees:

And once you buy a gift, you can print a card (so you can write on it and send it yourself), send a card (their mail deadline is Dec. 6 for Christmas, though), or send an ecard letting someone know you sponsored the animal on their behalf. They have cards for more than one holiday, or no holiday:

As if Emeril didn't suck enough, he recently devoted a whole show to foie gras, with nary a mention of the issues around force feeding. The next time you feel grumpy, why not channel some of that energy into telling him and the Food Network what an asshole move that was?

www.stopforcefeeding.com/page.php

Also, Chicago recently passed an ordinance against force feeding geese for foie gras (also illegal here in California). Now some losers are attempting to get it repealed. If you know anyone in Chicago, please ask them to contact their Alderman, as well as the mayor about this issue, EVEN if they contacted them before the ordinance was originally passed:
