a pedantic vegan cook eats out (london)

<div>so i just woke up after a nightmare dream about being served by a bad french waiter in a bad restaurant.... why the hell do i dream about such stuff???

well as a long suffering cook who can never find decent food where ever i go i though id share some thoughts on places ive been to recently! (not my own cafe as that would be too much to deal with)

The Little Earth Café at Triyoga, London NW3

its in a yoga centre and your supposed to take your shoes off... and not a stinky foot in the house! anyway thought this was all kinda cool. big airy space, all a bit worthy with healthy people walking about... makes you feel good already, if not slightly intimidated:/

this place is all about mostly raw and organic food... i went with a friend and we had an ace lunch.... raw sprouted sushi with a killer beet/ginger/wasabi sauce was the real winner for me, then again even a simple ginger and lemon tea was amazing... all fresh and with serious kick. when pride is taken in a simple drink then i think it indicates a love for their food! so tripple smiles from me on this one!:))) check what your ordering though as i had a nutty monkey and it was lovely but not what i expected i.e. huge cold soup thing...

im gonna counter this with:

Mildreds, 45 lexington street W1F

this is a serious one off place... crampt and ugly decor, like they cant decide if they're a posh hospital cafe of a bus depot greesy spoon.... they havnt even changed the menu much in at least 7years. boring burger... dry and tasteless and fries... had a passable salad with a terrible salad dressing...oil and vinigar and thats it! kinda crap as i took my sister here for an evening meal and felt embarassed to be vegan if this is whats served up. dont bother unless desperate.

funny really, 'cause the first place you really need to know about and make an effort to visit, the latter is in soho and relies on the fact these bugger all else places to eat as a vegan. tip... make the effort or eat an apple if your that desperate!</div>

cook not cook

<div>so it begins...

here i will be sharing my recipe ideas and aproach to cooking that dosnt always rely on said recipes. im my own worst enemy as a cook, thats what they say! i guess i just cant be bothered with writing anything down. hey, but maybe thats my strength? everytime i cook its a new dish.. isnt that what we all do anyway? even when you follow a recipe you end up changing or doing something different. also ingredients are never the same... organic, local, imported, how long you've had something sitting in your fridge...it all effects the final outcome. so this is my starting point. lets see where it goes.

one thing i will say is that im particularly interested in the medieval period and north european traditions so lets see how that feeds in to my approach!

hey and lets see if i can keep this blogg up as im crap at doing them and failed to keep up momentum. so bare with me on this.
