Lou is an unexpected gem of a person. He's not just curious, he's ready to jump right in with both feet and experience life. If you're lucky he'll take you along for the ride in his pirate ship. I could sit and look at his book shelf for days and not even scratch the surface.
Yes, he's a geek, but he's not limited to his own geeky interests.
And he looks damn fine in a kilt. And out of it too.

I met Lou freshman year in college, when we discovered we were from the same home town and even had friends in common. Rediscovered him at UW when he was attending orientation and I was working the info table for the health service. (Um, he didn't have any special health needs in case you're wondering.)
Lou is unapologetically geeky, and you have to respect that, even if his Star Wars sheets (duuuuude, seriously?) scare away the ladies. Or maybe they attract the ladies. How would I know, I'm married.
Anyway, Lou is utterly himself and has a heart of gold, an ear for interesting music, and a daughter who just couldn't be any cuter. What more is there to say?

Lou is the definition (in my personal dictionary) of "eclectic", and even that feels like a misleading pigeon-hole. We first bonded over an electric guitar in Berkeley. His unique blend of poetry, music, insight, humor, and companionship has made for some great memories (ask HIM about Posies Logic) and was vital to getting me through some tough times. We played tag up and down the coast and I'm glad we both ended up in Seattle. He is still doing quite a good job of expanding my brain, and I'm hoping in whatever way I can help him through this period of ... learning to fly.

Whether conversing with him over a pint or a cup of Earl Grey, he is definately one to know.
