Nowadays, it seems that my generation has fallen victim to relationship ideals I like to call "The Hollywood Syndrome". You see, unlike our parents and their parents before them, we lack staying power when it comes to working on our relationships and strengthening our commitment bond. The cliche of "The Grass is Greener on the Other side of the Fence" has become all too common and has made some people wealthy (by which I make reference to the Lawyers involved in Divorces these days) It's very sad indeed because everyone in my opinion loses, if kids are involved, it's just plain messy and confusing and with the current housing costs these days, the stakes are high and the stress on each party is a serious factor to consider, the friends of the couple are also at a loss because it places them in an awkward position and honestly most folks could do without the rampant drama these days. It was very uncommon in the days of old to have to deal with divorces and a great deal of effort went into saving a marriage but alas in the relationship arena these days, a quick excuse to "Tap Out" and the towel is thrown in and the "Losses" start to pile up. Sooooo, here is my humble suggestion for those folks looking to get into a relationship, are you ready for it.......it's big!........"Take your Time" and build a Friendship with many prospective mates, a Best Friend will eventually emerge glistening like "Diamond in the rough" and a closer Relationship will blossom, you will make Love that coupled with Lust, will be euphoric instead of a "Lust Only" fling that will have you rethinking and possibly regretting the impulsive decision. Now here's the big one, if you've chosen the Relationship based on Friendship first and if ever the Lust wears off, your Relationship will be still in great form because it is based on an Incredible Friendship first and foremost and not Lust, which if it was based on Lust, well guess what, yeppers off to Divorce court you'll trot. If you're already in a fantastic relationship but you're not appreciating what you have, well here's my second tip for you folks, wait for it............"Consider what you're about to Lose!" Yes. that's it before acting irrationally based on emotional upset, take a week and Pretend that the relationship is now over ( do this in your mind only! and do not involve your partner in this pretend scenario ) Now each day, act as if you're moving on without your significant other, mentally divide up your assets, if you have kids, think in great detail how this will affect their lives and how will the divorce affect your present living conditions, then each evening take an hour or two and look over all your Relationship pics and videos over the years and remember all the great times ( don't dwell on the negative aspects of the relationship ) Now here's the big one , talk to someone doing the single scene these days and ask them to highlight the many pitfalls of searching for your "Life Partner" because, should after all of these exercises, you make an educated decision to forget Reconciliation and move towards Divorce, this is the task ahead for you, to have to start the search from scratch all over again with the very real possibility that you will revisit the same scenario in the years to come. I'm hoping that my humble little Blog will help those looking for a Life Partner to slow down and take their time, after all relationships are not a 100 m Olympic sprints but rather a Marathon of Life situations to enjoy, work through, support each other and celebrate. Well my friends, it's time to get serious about my fitness level, I've lost the weight ( was 242 lbs ) now I'm 187 lbs. Losing the weight wasn't that hard - just cut out the breads and sugars. But now I need to get some more lean muscle on this bod so this is day one of my transformation. I'm going to use this blog to diary my efforts, the good the bad and the downright evil experiences. Plus this will keep my efforts true and on track. Wow I feel like it's the beginning of the rest of my life.
