I have to say...it has been LONG time since I've encountered the kind of kinetic energy that can only be generated by top notch acting talent gathered in one place. Wow....It reminded me of why I do the crazy things I do as a hobby.

We have wrapped up casting "War of the Worlds"...we were amazed at the sheer talent and enthusiasm brought to the table by everyone who auditioned.

I have to go to bed tonight before I finish up the cast list...but I should be contacting my new cast members tomorrow.

(BTW - Monique...your headshot is just fine).

I am thinking of adding a video to a website...but here's the kicker - I don't have a decent video camera.

Does anyone have a relatively nice video camera (digital, preferably) that I may use in a future date to film a short piece of fluff for my website?

Please? Pretty please?

AUDITIONS - La Legion Fantastique 2008!

Greetings,

Thanks to everyone (audience and participants alike) for their support and enthusiasm last year, which made our inaugural year of La Legion Fantastique a hit at the 2007 Dickens Christmas Fair. Now the clock is ticking, and we must begin the process of creating an even bigger and better show!

Our returning cast has already begun holding monthly rehearsals...and we are now scheduling auditions for the many shows and characters that inhabit La Legion Fantastique.!

We are looking for dedicated, friendly, and talents actors and artists to join us in our quest to faithfully bring the worlds of Jules Verne to vibrant life! If you would like to take on the challenge of being bigger than life Victorian-age science fiction characters in a fully immersive theatrical environment ... we want to meet you!

Not only are we looking for environmental actors (characters from Verne's books), but we are also looking for someone to play the coveted role of Mr. Jules Verne himself! We are also looking for 3 actors for the Legion Fantastique children's show - "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". This is a high-energy, physical, audience participation show that will be performed daily...so we need actors who are outgoing, can project vocally, and won't mind multiple weeknight rehearsals in October-November.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO AUDITION - Please send an email to: legionfantastique@gmail.com (with something particularly Jules Verne related...just to see that you're paying attention) to schedule an audition time and to receive our list of characters we are looking to cast. If you could please send a recent photo of yourself as well, that would help. The following dates are currently planned for auditions:

JULY 30
AUGUST 27
SEPTEMBER 24
OCTOBER 22
NOVEMBER 5

PLEASE NOTE: We have limited space this year, and we will be unable to cast everyone who auditions...so please be aware that an audition is not a guarantee for a role.

We hope to see you there!

-Peter Overstreet (a.k.a. Phileas Fogg)

Hey Dickens Fair Folk!

Many of you have taken my class "Cruel Britannia" during the workshops. For those of you who haven't, it's an informative course regarding the system of crime and punishment in London during Charles Dickens' lifetime. Many of you enjoyed it...but never seemed to be able to watch one of the films that I cite on a regular basis - "The Great Train Robbery" (with Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland).

WELL...NOW YOU CAN.

In the immortal words of Jeremy Wolfe - "Git off yer bleedin' arse 'n wotch it!" (actually...I'm paraphrasing).

It's one of my favorite films set in the Victorian era. It's "Mission Impossible" meets Charles Dickens...kid you not.

SO...Follow the link below, and enjoy!

Mr. Blunt - Update

I went down to Santa Clara and visited Mike (aka "Mr. Blunt") at the hospital...He is getting better - very slowly, but better. He's trying to keep a rosy outlook, but it's honestly been a struggle for him. He's got a big ol' incision up his back, and he's finally coming down from nine days of morphine (he's now on vicadin). The poor guy is fighting...and fighting well...and he seems to be healing. He is starting to go from no feeling in his legs to having dull pain in his thighs - which IS an improvement. He even moved his legs a little last night - which is AWESOME.

He will, more than likely, be moved out of the hospital into his friend's home to be looked after during his recovery.

He thanks everyone for their support, and I will keep you all informed of future developments.
