a mad's postcards to nobody
prodigal
Sat, September 15, 2007 - 10:55 AMNow, I've nothing against the father's happiness at the return of his son. I have everything against the apparent-interpretation that the older son is the epitome of the Pharisee-- a.k.a. the hypocritical self-righteous and arrogant prick.
Funny how two thousand years later, we still see instances of the fight between the so-called Pharisees and the prodigal son who returned.
Perhaps, society rewards the weak. It shows pity, and it calls the elder son cold and mean, when the older sons are those who contribute. Society prefers to see what goes on the surface-- that is why one who has a lot of time and effort to consciously display an act wins. We may talk about the long run, but in the long run things change. Like Keynes said, in the long run we are all dead. That is why I hate being with certain groups of people-- at least amongst the efficient ones, I know I do not have to push them and I see real results. Real homes, real assets, real everything. Rather than pander to prepubescents in the bodies of adults.
And when you push the pitiful ones because they are godamned sticks in the mud or fucking inefficient-- hello, thou shalt not drag everybody else down; you could drag yourself down by your own choice, but that's your bloody business-- they start to once again, act so pitiful. They weep and they complain. People who get to cry foul, exaggerate their sadness and pitiful plight are those who seem to be condoned. Special privileges are accorded to them. Kinda dumb, isn't it? Especially when they are a waste of time and resources.
Responsibility seems to be something that is lacking. I find it supremely annoying how they have no qualms dragging others down, or making the entire world wait on them. Oh, it is their right, I forgot. The weak of character seemingly have a lot of rights extended to them. Sometimes I wonder how old they are, but then I remember that some people grow old but they grow stupider. Self-absorption is their passport.
What I do not include amongst this group of chaff to be tied up and burnt in the furnace would be the old, the sick and those institutionally slighted-- whereby action by the individual cannot help them much. What I refer to would be the shallow, the annoying buggers and those who only know how to talk about their problems, which seemingly constitute the most phenomenal, for the only reason that it is their problem. That, which is all they can talk about, because there is no other intelligent content they are capable of discussing.
Therefore, all their problems, especially the self-created impediments, become legitimized. If you are so sorry-sounding, and so pathetic, of course people will feel sorry for you. The faults extend to everybody else except to them. Oh, how sorry their lives are. And how much stranger it is that their views are imposed to become universal truths. And therefore the assumption, albeit a highly ironical one, that the lives of many is exactly like theirs.
I do not think that efficiency is achieved at the expense of human relations, virtues and what-nots. These two, perhaps, could be taken to be antipodal, yet arguments of either dichotomy are flawed and retarded. If one always requires that push, to pander to his or her every need does not fall under 'human relations'. Rather it becomes a desperate devouring of every scrap of plausible attention to be doled out.
Alas, living in a community where weakness is sometimes rewarded can be frustrating. The beauty is how these people always think they are right and faultless. Sometimes, it befuddles me as to whether these people are really dumb or are they just pretending they don't know how fucking annoying they are. But I suppose, that's how life is.
Really, I have utmost contempt for the downright irresponsible-- the all-talk-and-no-action and those who overtly try to prove some dumb points in a highly prepubescent manner.
