Wanderlust
Sat, December 13, 2008 - 12:18 PMHow did this happen? Well, someone who trusts me, respects me, and cares for me, needed someone to oversee some construction taking place on her 14 acres on a mountainside in Belize. She could not be there. She was worried. I called her in my depression. Wham-Bam within 36 hours it all just fell into place. So, this Friday I head to Arizona to meet the business partner. And the following Monday, I leave for Cancun for a day then a short bus ride to Belize.
I'll have my own pick up truck while I'm there in the epicenter of what used to be the Mayan capital and its suburbs. There are 4 main ruins sites very nearby. And there is the main ruins of Tikal about 40 miles away in Guatemala. I plan to go to as many as possible. Since the last day of BM '03, when some info about the Mayan calender came to me, I have been very intrigued with the Maya. In fact, I am a 'Yellow Galactic Warrior' from the Mayan calender. Now, I am thrust to the heart of their civilization. This is exciting for me.
If anyone has plans to be in Central America this winter, let me know. We can hook up for some adventure or just chill. I should have semi-regular or better web access while there.
Well, I gotta tie up some loose ends and pack now.....

Wow... damn. That's some roller coaster ride you've been on. I gotta say this, though: you certainly haven't sat around on your butt, and that's a formidable trait to have. I'm really happy for you that this opportunity came along.
Belize, watch out. (I have no idea what you mean by this Mayan calendar thing, so I went and looked it up. I am, according to some website, a red crystal dragon. Um. Ok. I don't know what that means, but I vaguely like the sound of it.) |

Sa-weet! I have a handful of people scattered from PDC (Playa Del Carmen - which you will pass coming from the Cancun airport towards headin' towards Belize), as well as near Tikal, and farther into Guatemala. The Mayan 2012 thing I went to in '06 has turned into something else now, but it's still worthy of going. Tikal is a must. Ancient civilization - pyramids without the camels and desert - hehe. I could go on forever.
BTW...Belize isn't really that "short" of a bus ride, especially in the rainy season. But hey, yer a trooper. Man, you are gonna love it!!! P.S. Belize City is ugly and not worth a second glance. Head for the hills or for the reef. Maybe I'll see you in February. I'll be in that region. Save me a hammock spot (and don't spare me the big bugs n humidity!!!) |

If you are in San Iganacio/ Cayo
I have a good friend there named Marcus, he teaches at the school and has lived there for several years. He loves when I send my crazy friends his way so you should email him! I will send you his info. Love can suck but I have found that in the aftermath of a broken heart there are many valuable things you learn about yourself. I already have a roaring case of the wanderlust too, so I am heading to Australia as soon as I get my visa.
