about me
Life is meant to be experienced and I have tried my best. My life has taken me from the bottom to the top only to leave me now somewhere in the middle. I just want to live a life full of interesting people, places and events. Oh, and yes, I am a geek. Who says they have to be boring. Check out my portfolio themacgeek.com/gallery2/

This post has spawned from a conversation with another tribe member and my desire to make sure that I don't have to type the same thing over and over again. I will likely change and edit this as we go so I am going to version this number 1. So here goes. Please do not send the literary police after me, they already know where I live and visit to beat me regularly. Enjoy.

OK .. here goes <-Insert Disclaimer

Disclaimer: I, theMacGeek, do swear that this information may be harmful to the sanity of those who read it. Any adverse or ill effects are completely my fault and if you so desire you may hunt me down and cover me in honey while also releasing bees to chase me naked across the fields of TN.

I am orig. from Kansas. (Insert ToTo and Dorothy joke here). Yes, I have been in a tornado and no it was not fun. Flying cows are never fun. I went to school, got picked on by all the popular people and finally got out. Whew.

Went on to college where I found that life was more than beer after football games and necking in the parking lot (at least that is what all the popular kids did. I sat in the park and tried to figure out how to climb the water tower and not get caught.)

College was fun, though expensive. Still avoiding the collection agencies for all those loans. Went on to work for the Kansas City Star where I learned that the big city is a whole lot different than I thought. (Insert lots of life experience - Attended the School of Hard Knocks).

After three years of trying to understand the purpose of my life, I set off to travel. I spent the much of next year traveling, hitching and riding from one place to the next. Sometimes with money, mostly without. Thank God for hostels and truck stops.

Some highlights:
- Hitchhiked from Kansas to CA to WA to FL
- Spent some time in a commune
- Lived in the mountains of CA
- Traveled with a carnival for 3 months
- Lived on a river bank for 2 months
- Worked as a travel photographer for a newspaper
- Ate dinner off of a table made from a section of the Berlin Wall
- Following Phish with 9 other people in a VW bus.

Eventually I settled down in Ohio where I accepted the position of assistant editor with a newspaper. They let me loose on the town where I proceeded to become known as the local "shutter bug".

During my time at the newspaper I became an evangelist of the Apple faith, which I still practice today. "All Hail Steve Jobs". This led to my departure from the newspaper. The local pastors were becoming concerned by the huge growth in Mac owners. They forced the local paper owners to boot me out of town.

Shortly after that I met Melissa, my soul mate. Soul Mate - what more can be said. She is the everything of my life.

Business led to a relocation, so we moved to the Nashville area ( We actually live in Clarksville, but travel to Nashville often).

Today, I spend my days designing and being creative. What I love.

So that is my history, in a nutshell. My interests are now the following: photography (still have the bug), theatre (try to act, but most often I just play myself), music (I like it all), poetry (dont ask, it is really bad), writing (when I take the time).

Hope that gives you some idea of who I am. You may feel confused right now, and that is normal. Just take three shots of whiskey, a few asprin and call the doctor in the morning. Three asprin is never enough.
