taste of tommaso

The floor is mightier than the head

Few weeks ago i started playing walleyball with the guys in the office. Its not what i would call a 'manly' sport but its 2 hours of additional exercise and thats a good thing. I really don't remember anything about last nights game as somewhere during the setup i, being a complete and utter idiot, fell onto my upper back and head. Suffered a concussion.

The backhoe and my ash

The other day we finally got the portable saw mill out to cut up numerous logs that had been taken down over the last year on the homestead. No photos this time as i was out of town most for most of it. But several large spruce logs, ahh the smell of christmas trees, and some very large ash trees were cut up. Now ash is normally a very bland wood, creamy yellow colors with some black rings in it, but these were very different with large spots of brown and pink mixed in. Aside from being... read more

The marketplace....

On occasion i hit the local farmers market and flea market, its a great place to get some fresh produce, to buy someone elses trash, get some exercise, and most importantly of all people watch.

Today as i meandered thru the rows of people selling baseball cards and crap 'not available in stores' and over priced 'antiques' i took notice of the people around me. been feeling pretty meh lately, like i'm in a drunk haze without the fun of being drunk. Stuff is clear but it all seems intangible. Being a little tired of working on the house of late i decided to hit Mudthaw, the first big fighting event of the year and also the Kingdom A&S competition. Homeownershit: The Directors Cut
Some highlights of the joy that is home ownership that were not grand enough for their own entry.

It is suprising how poorly insulated an old house is. And i don't just mean insulation, when its really windy out and i can feel a breeze thru solid walls and closed windows its time for some repairs.

This also applies to windows, twice now i'd had it rain thru the window. Stupid old steel storm windows.....
