"In the beginning, there was Kraftwerk"
1974's "Autoban" broke the top-10 charts in Germany, England, and the US, and introduced electro to the world. Since then, their minimalist pop has continued to have a profound impact on more artists and genres than we could possibly name.

In 1979, Gary Numan turned away from guitars and embraced the cold new sound of synthesizers (combined with guitar effect pedals). In the span of just 6 months, he released "Replicas" (as Tubeway Army) and "The Pleasure Principle", and created a whole new genre: synth. Since then he has continuously re-invented himself, and in 1994, Gary embraced industrial and darkwave.</div>

Strangelove: Wax Trax vs. Razormaid! 4AD vs. Mute! Attack of the Record Labels!

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/tonyb/blog/0dca46c7-ddd6-404f-81cb-80c25d9e353b"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/ce0/af4/ce0af4bb-894c-43d3-bb6c-9d5304e2a6b7.thumb" width="52" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>On Friday, January 2nd, Strangelove focuses on 4 of their favorite record labels. In the back room, DJs Tomas Diablo and Unit 77 (Attack Haus Productions) spin the best of Wax Trax! and Razormaid! Records. In the front room, DJs Orko and Otter (Dancing Ghosts Productions) spin the best of Mute and 4AD Records!

Thanks to 4AD and the efforts of Dancing Ghosts, we'll be giving away assortments of CDs from artists like Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, Bauhaus, and Department of Eagles.

What ARE these record labels?

Wax Trax! essentially defined industrial music, and featured artists like Front 242, Ministry, KMFDM, Revolting Cocks, Front Line Assembly, My Life With The Thill Kill Kult, Coil, and Skinny Puppy side-projects Cyberakitf and Doubting Thomas.

Since 1984, Razormaid! Records has been the premier DJ remix label, and has released dance mixes of artists like Depeche Mode, the Cure, New Order, Gary Numan, Red Flag, Microchip League, Kraftwerk, the Eurythmics, and Nitzer Ebb.

Mute Records was formed by Depeche Mode producer Daniel Miller in 1978 to release his single 'Warm Leatherette' (under the name 'The Normal'). Since then Mute has released music by Fad gadget, Nitzer Ebb, Goldfrapp, Yaz, Erasure, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and of course Depeche Mode.

4AD was formed in 1979 and funded by Beggars Banquet. They have released music by Bauhaus, the Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Clan of Xymox, Tones on Tail, This Mortal Coil, Xmal Deutchland, the Pixies and more.

Strangelove is every first Friday at the CAT CLUB (Folsom and 8th), with different themes and guests every month. There's lots of room to dance and socialize, and if you keep dancing, we keep the party going until 3AM!

<div>SIGN IT HERE: http://www. PetitionOnline. com/seg5130/petition. html

To: California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

I, myself, and many Californians I know are disgusted with the hatred that the passing of proposition 8 brought. I am asking you to read this over, THE FACTS, not the propaganda. Open your mind for a minute, and realize that this is terrible for future generations as well. How do you know that your future children or grandchildren won't come to you and tell you they are homosexual? Wouldn't you want your child to live a life in which the love they found was supported? Plain and simple, if you are an American, you should believe in preserving the constitution. Proposition 8's passing took away the 14th amendment for a group of people, and I would like to give it back.

Facts v.
Fiction
Proposition 8 would eliminate fundamental rights for a group of Californians. It’s unfair and it’s wrong.

Fiction: Prop 8 doesn’t discriminate against gay people.

Fact: Prop 8 is simple: it eliminates the rights for same-sex couples to marry. Prop 8 would deny equal protections and write discrimination against one group of people—lesbian and gay people—into our state constitution.

Fiction: Teaching children about same-sex marriage will happen here unless we pass Prop 8.

Fact: Not one word in Prop 8 mentions education. And no child can be forced, against the will of their parents, to be taught anything about health and family issues at school. California law prohibits it.

California’s top educators including Superintendent of Schools Jack O’Connell and California Teachers all agree: Prop 8 has nothing to do with education.

Fiction: Churches could lose their tax-exemption status.

Fact: The court decision regarding marriage specifically says “no religion will be required to change its religious policies or practices with regard to same-sex couples, and no religious officiant will be required to solemnize a marriage in contravention of his or her religious beliefs.
”

Fiction: A Massachusetts case about a parent’s objection to the school curriculum will happen here.

Fact: California gives parents an absolute right to remove their kids and opt-out of teaching on health and family instruction they don’t agree with. The opponents know that California law already covers this and Prop 8 won’t affect it, so they bring up an irrelevant case in Massachusetts.

Fiction: Four Activist Judges in San Francisco…
Fact: Prop 8 is about eliminating a fundamental right. Judges didn’t grant the right, the constitution guarantees the right. Proponents of Prop 8 use an outdated and stale argument that judges aren’t supposed to protect rights and freedoms. Prop 8 is about whether Californians are willing to amend the constitution for the sole purpose of eliminating a fundamental right for one group of citizens.

Fiction: If Prop 8 isn’t passed, people can be sued over personal beliefs.

Fact: California’s laws already prohibit discrimination against anyone based on race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. This has nothing to do with marriage.

Fiction: Pepperdine University supports the Yes on 8 campaign.

Fact: The University has publicly disassociated itself from Professor Richard Peterson of Pepperdine University, who is featured in the ad, and has asked to not be identified in the Yes on 8 advertisements.

Fiction: Unless Prop 8 passes, California parents won’t have the right to object to what their children are taught in school.

Fact: California law clearly gives parents and guardians broad authority to remove their children from any health instruction if it conflicts with their religious beliefs or moral convictions.

Sincerely,

Dancers needed for Exotic Erotic

<div>I am stage managing the Exotic Erotic Ball and booking go go dancers this year. The Ball is being held at Treasure Island on Saturday October 25. Professional experience as a go go dancers or exotic entertainer is preferred but not necessary. You need to be OK dancing nude (or semi-nude) in front of a large group of people with the understanding that you will be photographed.

The event organizers want for the parameters to be more specific this year. Because we have several male go go dancers already booked, I am looking for female dancers 18 – 30 years of age. The Ball is willing to pay for:
$100.00 topless (no tape or pasties) 2 costume changes
$150.00 topless and thong (2 costume changes (and)
$200.00 nude. Shoes and a smile – that’s it.

The event will be from 8pm – 2am. Dancers will need to be there at 8 and get paid in cash – released by 1:30. Your parking will be taken care of. Performers have access to a dressing room/changing area with water and some food. Sets will be from 5 – 10 minutes in duration while we set up the other acts on the Burlesque stage. There are no guest list spots available – but if you need a spot for a ride or escort – you can ask.

Interested parties can audition at Bondage A Go Go at the Glas Kat in San Francisco on Wednesday 10 22 from 9:30pm – 12:30pm. Auditions will be first come – first served. Please bring valid picture identification with you.

Thanks for your interest – I look forward to meeting you!

    </a>
<div>I just received a very disturbing email from my school, apparently an instructor I had 4 years ago was murdered last month.

A senseless murder. And for what? Financial gain? What the hell is that all about? This is just a sad tragedy. Dr. D was a great man, he was a great teacher. One of those memorable professors, years after I took his class I kept in touch since I liked him so much. He had a very interesting way about him. I took a political science class back in 2004, I remember it well since it was an election year and there was a lot going on about Bush at the time. I still remember some of my classmates from that class as well.

Dr. D was a great teacher, he cared about how you were doing, he always would take the time to help you in any way. He always made himself available to you if you needed any help any time.

I can not write to clearly now, too sad. Needless to say Dr. D will be missed.

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/tonyb/blog/2da91ded-afe7-41fc-9411-b9e6c6dc2b00"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/af2/01e/af201e88-1a96-440d-927d-013f7356b108.thumb" width="65" height="65" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>Ok, here's a blog for ya'll...

Last night was freaking awesome. I get to the club and the first thing I am told is that Siouxsie is supposed to be popping in later. How cool is that? So somewhere just after midnight, this long white limo pulls up and we are thinking "ohh here she is."

Nope... Just some girl having her 21st birthday, rented a big limo.

A little while later a van shows up with a bunch of guys in it, turns out it is the band. They came down to hang out at the club. (Unfortunately Siouxsie did not come down.) Either way they were quite a nice lot. Very mellow and down to Earth. One of them wanted to play in the dungeon, the others were checking out the music and dancing downstairs. Then we shuffled them into the VIP room for them to hang out and relax. I was quite surprised that they were quite easy going, not unrealistic or anything. They said they really liked San Francisco the most and had a great time at Bondage a Go Go.

Next time they are in town they are definately planning to come back.

That was totally cool. The show was awesome, Siouxsie looked and sounded freaking awesome and the band sounded really good. I really liked the music in the show a lot.

Maybe next time they come around...

It has dual antenna inputs so you can use CATV &amp; Air at the same time and have them programmed separately. Also you can plug a little memory stick and look at pictures and music from it. It does up to 1080i with HDMI. Everything about the TV should be answered at the link above. This is a beautiful TV. I am going 1080p, so it is time to upgrade.

TV is in Noe Valley (San Francisco.) You must pick it up only. No delivery options available.

Includes:
TV (KDF-42WE655)
Stock Remote (RM-Y915)
Box it came in
(Manual is in PDF at link above, I should have the original printed manual as well.)</div>

BaGG Tribe Army in 2008

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/tonyb/blog/8bb02363-255c-4df6-a129-2f34919b23f8"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/cce/143/cce143f2-a30b-4732-ac63-936dc8de3704.thumb" width="65" height="49" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>Effective immediately anybody in the BaGG Tribe who purchases a
Premium Membership from Tribe.net
http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net/template/SubscribeTribe.vm
will be issued a BaGG Tribe Army card that would allow them to attend for $5.00 a week for as long as the Premium Membership is active. The new Premium Memberships are available for the nominal charge of
$45 for one year
$25 for 6 months
$5 a month pay as you go

For their support of Tribe.net, these BaGG Tribe members would automatically be RSVP’d for the Fiesta and attend for FREE (the Mortals will still pay $1) + enter the club any Wednesday (excluding Anniversary and NYE 08) for $5.00. Save money. Support the Tribe. Be a part of the ongoing social experiment that ::is:: Tribe.net.

Proceeds from the Fiesta(s) will also be applied to adopting (2) Tribe Orphans per month from our Tribe with any additional amounts (after costs) being donated to the San Francisco Food Bank.

Misguided philanthropy? A Mark Pincus charity? What’s it mean to you and me?

BUISNESS: Tribe.net survives in to 2008 – battered, bruised but still alive. Tribe was INSTRUMENTAL in the positive turnaround at the club and deserves this opportunity to survive and prosper with our collective support. My hope is that other tribes with a commercial bent will find ways to do likewise. That way the social, tech and information tribes will be able to use the free memberships to grow Tribe that will (in theory) will grow the BaGG Tribe.

Get them in. Get them hooked, Get their money.

ETHICS: Bandwidth is a bitch. Google ads are wack. Tribe needs to be self sufficient to survive and prosper. We use LOTS of bandwidth for posts and images. That (and) Darren and Wendy have been uber-kewl to BaGG thru the ups and downs. Lets keep them happy, employed and sane.

I am looking forward to another amazing year with you all. One night a week, once in a lifetime. One club, One Tribe.

Happy New Year!
