After traumatizing myself all week with various computer meltdowns and freakouts I need a break. So I'm heading out on the Ferry tomorrow with a buddy to Victoria on Vancouver Island. His folks live there and can put us up. I also have another buddy who lives there who can let me stay in his guest room if needed.

Some time ago I wrote a blog which a tribemate reminded me about. (See 'Meeting in the clear light of day') It was all about meeting Netbuds in the Real World and the awful things that could go wrong. It focused on how we build a usually overly positive fantasy of how the other person will be, and that it often contrasts with the flesh and blood person with all their foibles and neuroses who we finally encounter. Thus disappointment can ensue.

Today I booked my flight to San Francisco. I'm going to be staying in the Mission district and I'll be meeting some Tribemates while I'm down there. I'm going to pack light and travel slow.
