Why I love Alice Cooper

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/tra/blog/e9287ddb-2ef5-4767-80ff-159a3fe1658c">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/9c3/601/9c36010a-f65e-41db-8007-d755024deed6.thumb" width="56" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>I went to see Alice Cooper in concert this week and many of my friends and co-workers were quite taken aback. They were shocked that a Christian woman, such as myself, would EVER go to see Alice.

I do like his music. It’s very catchy and can even be funny, and I just love it. But not only that, Alice is a big role model for me. I admire him and his faith. He is a shining beacon of what a Christian is suppose to be - at least in my eyes. He's out there, living his life, and yet still has faith in God. He can rock out and still love God. In his own words, "I can be a rock 'n' roll star, a Christian, and Alice Cooper."

He is not a Christian singer - he's a singer that's a Christian. Just because he doesn't sing about Christ 24-7 doesn't mean Christ isn't in his lyrics. His album, Brutal Planet, has a lot of Biblical truth in it. Christianity is a part of who he is, but it doesn't have to be his entire identity, which many people think it has to.

He doesn't beat people over the head with his bible. He just quietly lives out his life the best way he knows how while keeping his eyes on God. He doesn't peach about Christianity in every interview and it's not the major point of every conversation he has, and yet he shares his faith with many people - famous and non-famous alike.

I love that he is still out there in the "world". Many Christians hide from the world. They turn their backs on every non-Christian friend they have and surround themselves with safe, non-threatening Christians. Alice doesn't. He's still out there with the junkies and what-not. He is the light in the darkness; he's just not a part of that darkness anymore. I highly doubt he quotes them scripture or hounds them to change their ways. No - I say he just cares for them, and they know where he stands. And that they also know who they can turn to when they are lost and need the Light.

So, I love Alice for still being Alice. …..a changed Alice, but Alice nonetheless. He's just a regular, Christian guy living his life in a world of darkness. Being in the world, not of the world - as we are commanded. I mean, after all, who did Jesus hang out with? The priests? The holy people? No. He was with the whores, the misfits, the drunks - all the people that society looked down upon. He was out there loving them and caring for them. He showed them the Truth, and it set them free. I think many Christians forget how Jesus really lived.

I love that Alice chooses to live his life in a non-traditional, Christian way. He could have renounced rock-n-roll and started preaching and singing only Christian songs, but he didn’t. He decided to do what was right for him – even if it flew in the face of traditional Christianity and he doesn’t back down from his choice. He knows that what he does here is between him and God alone. No one else’s judgment matters. And as I live my life being very non-traditional myself, I draw great comfort and strength from this man named Alice.

It was sooooo worth the 8 hour drive to get there. I had so much fun, and I'm so proud of myself that I did so well. It's been 2 days since I've been back and I'm still tender here and there.

She did a lot of yoga and strength, not a lot of drilling. I was a little disappointed there wasn't more drilling, but honestly, I needed the muscle work, so it turned out for the best.

We learned a tad chorography, and she used it in one of her dances in the show. I thought that was uber cool.

She's a great teacher and a really nice person. I can't wait to study with her again.</div>
