so little to say...so much time

Niko's b-day

   Tue, April 15, 2008 - 2:41 PM
Niko, a man who helped my family bring me into the world. At 13 I was already subscribed to Adbusters and Utne reader (some of the best christmas gifts ever). He took me aside and ensured that I could change a tire, carry a load of shingles, and play street hockey with the rest of the boys in our town. We crossed the threshold of burningman together, in which all of lives were forever changed and our family grew exponentially. Most of his last years of his 20's have been spent in Gerlach working for BM, dedicated to the core to the dream that manifests for us for a mere week of our lives. My first introduction to fire was with him. He was my example of living for the adventure of it while taking people along for the ride. Performing with different groups I remember a family photo share where we all sat at the table and he was showing us his "UV costume" as a naked blacklight orange and black zebra. He taught me all the "bad things" that I know, and forever I am grateful. So to all those in the extended family...let him know how his life of 30 years have woven into yours....
Happy birthday Niko

Hippy Barthday nikO!
I first met nikO three summers ago when he came to the place I call home in NorCal. I was truely disappointed that he wasn't going to stay with us for more than one night, but then I found out that he was actually there to drop off his sister to stay with us and she was a most wonderful gift to leave in his aftermath. I didn't cross paths with nikO again until this past summer at Dreamtime where he immediately introduced me to everyone as part of his family, helped me learn my limits being in the high desert, and utterly destroyed the imaginary boundary between work and play. Meeting nikO and his (real and extended) families has forever influenced my life.
