What I'm Reading (or have read recently)

I'm slowly turning into a nerd, I'm devouring words left and right. Usually, it's what it is a combination of what's being assigned in class, what I find shelving, and what I'm picking up off the floor.

Upcoming: Futurama Graphic Novels!

Current: Funny in Farsi by Firoozeh Dumas--i love this book, so far!

Wall of Pain, an autobiography of Phil Spector. Good read, although the timing is so fast. I'd love to read the book by Ronnie Spector to see her side of the marriage with Phil.

Past:
Take a Walk on the Dark Side: Rock 'n Roll Myths, Legends and Curses by R. Gary Patterson -- I love the hey day of rock and roll and to me, this book is kinda like Hollywood Babylon but cutting out the sex part. Good read.

Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie. I love Alexie's work and don't know why I waited so long to read this book--it is magical and wonderful. Ya-Hey!

Need More Love: A Graphic Memoir by Aline Kominsky Crumb -- I have been enamored with this woman for years. She's fearless, bawdy, very hot and has a life and level of creativity that I envy.

Drive - James Sallis -- found it boring and can't believe I read the whole thing!
Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer - What can I say? I love Mormogeddon!
The Worst Person in the World by Keith Olbermann - I love Keith O--hot!

My Testimonials

July 2, 2009
I adopted Jenn into my family in 2005 and it was the one of the best things I ever did. She has a great sense of humor, plays a mean hand of poker and is great to unload on. And give her a shot of whiskey and she is good to go.:) so Glad you came into my life girl. That 2005 on the playa cannot be topped.
Gary seems to be a good asset too.

The question to the board is this:

Is it really worth to travel four hours and 160 miles round trip in heavy rains and icy road just to go see someone dance for 10 minutes? Would one risk life and limb to visit someone for a few moments who you only have brief encounters with? If one have to ask such a question then you are not truely worth to bask in the inner beauty and the light of her out beauty of this wonderful soul.

Jennenay, my sister Injun, belly dance queen and donut lust partner in crime. Jenn is a clever, witty girl with many gifts. She is a butterfly, attracted to bright flashes of fuschia, fuschia anything. The image that burns in my head is of her running towards me at the Mt. View train station, mammoth boobies swinging to and fro, wearing a santa cap and beard. What a weirdo. Gotta love her.

Jen, Jen, Jen, there is so much to write about Jen.
Jennifer is a smart, beautiful, funny, passionate, fun to be with force of nature. She always has a big smile on her face, and is always ready to enjoy the moment or the occasion. Anyone fortunate enough to crosspaths or even better become friends with her, will have gained a blessing...

My Policy on Adding Friends

There are a lot of people on my friends list and I have met about 90% of them.
If I do not know you, I will probably not add you. It is best to contact me first and get to know me instead--a little chitchat, a little convo, you know.

Does this blog make my boobs look big?

This post is for my friends who expressed interest in Club Spice. A certain cougar (the no trash one) will be spinning a set early on in the evening, so if you wanna come out and support him, please come on down! I'll be around--either doing dancer sign in or shaking you down at the door for cash!!!

I have been hanging on. I do have an a job in addition to my library job and I have yet to throw myself into it.

I "performed" at Gothla last weekend in Fullerton. By "performing", I mean I "danced" to my entire song even though my hip wrap fell off and I lost a zill. I picked up the zill because I NEEDED it, dammit. Sooooo surprised my boobs didn't fall out.
So, it wasn't one of my best performances. Oh well. I did finally look at the photos and they don't capture my desperation, ... read more

I'm noticing more and more as the time for people to depart to the playa how wistful I am to go too

All over my small portion of the internet (Tribe, LJ, Yahoo), there's the excitement threads, then the "I've decided last minute to go" threads, the moocher threads, etc.

Then yesterday, while Gary and I were on a walk, Keeks and DeJenerate both stopped and chatted quickly. They talked about how, in two weeks, they'll be sitting on the playa with a cocktail in their hand. I was jumpi... read more

Ye gods, how I love Blind Faith.

We went to see Steve Winwood a few weeks ago and the show was great. I am so amazed at this guy's talent and his long career in music--he kicks ass. No offense to those other guys in Blind Faith. :P

Then Gary got a DVD of Blind Faith's debut concert, a free show in London's Hyde Park from 1969--omg! wtf! bbq! It made me so nostalgic for something I've never even been part of.

We're going music crazy lately--between the two audio collections from ... read more
