"Dwelling in this very body, we have somehow realized Brahman; otherwise we should have remained ignorant and great destruction would have overtaken us. Those who know Brahman become immortal while others only suffer misery." - Swami Nikhilananda transl
While I was watching this talk show the other day
And on it there was this guy
And he was saying "When you let other people tell you what's right
when you leave your instinct and your own truth behind he said
that's a virus of the mind,
that's a virus of the mind"
Well I guess it's kinda like loosing your sight
For a second you think that they might be right
And it feeds the doubts that you have inside
It almost starts to feels like a crime
To follow your own rhythm and rhyme
I'm pretty happy, living in my
My own sweet time, living in my
I'm pretty happy, and I don't need your
Virus of the mind
Your virus of the mind
Well I went to this party thing last night
A lot of people I hadn't seen in a long long time
And they wanted to know about my life
But making me feel like it wasn't quite right
Like "Where's is your kids?" and "Where is you car?"
I said "I don't have either but I have a guitar"
And I ended up feeling like I was a freak
So I found some wine and something to eat
I talked to the dog to pass the time
I told myself "I'm doing just fine"
It's just a virus of the mind
It's just a virus of the mind
I'm pretty happy, living in my
My own sweet time, living in my
Yeah I'm pretty happy, and I don't need your
Virus of the mind
Your virus of the mind
It's in the deep of your soul, it's on the tip of your tongue
It's the feeling you get, when you feel young
It's in the sound of a beat, it's in the base of your spine
It's in your gut reaction, yeah every time
But they tell you what you should have, they tell you who you should be
It's in the pictures and ads and in the magazines
I'm kicking it off like a bug in the breeze
Cause is anyone out there inside me
I say "Is anyone out there inside me?"
I say "Is anyone?"
I'm pretty happy, living in my
My own sweet time, living in my
Yeah I'm pretty happy, and I don't need your
Virus of the mind
I'm pretty happy, living in my
My own sweet time, living in my
Yeah I'm pretty happy, and I don't need your
Virus of the mind
Your virus of the mind

You know, some folks you just want to have as a neighbor. I'm wishing Ve and her family lived in my 'hood! We'd be dancing and doing tea, sharing wise words and sparking creativity. And who knows what mischief.
What a woman-- and great mama to boot.

I am so happy to have Ve as a friend. We had a ball this weekend, and I so enjoyed her dancing. I am looking forward to seeing Ve next year when we dance together again at the festivals in St Louis.

There is so much that I can say about Ve, even though I just recently met her! Maybe the best thing to say is that EVERYONE should have the opportunity to meet Ve! She's wonderful, warm, and has a great sense of humor!
And if you ever meet Ve, you will find that you've always known her! She's that beautiful friendship you've been waiting for!
Oh, and for all who've mentioned it--yep, Ve has an awesome head of hair!!!!!!!!

Ve - what a sweetie!! she always has a big beautiful smile for you whenever she sees you.
I met Ve a couple of years ago when I started selling tribal jewelry. She started out with the good stuff and hasn't looked back. (Don't worry, Ve, I'll take good care of your daughter, hehe! )
You should see her dance! What a beautiful, wonderful dancer she has become. She takes dancing seriously and studies it diligently but still has a great sense of humor. If you ever have a chance to come watch her dance, do it! You won't be disappointed.
Ve, you're one of my favorites!
XOXO

I also met Ve at the Tribal Indulgence workshop. She was the quietest of all of us, but sweet and wonderful to be around. She was so helpful and generous - I can't wait to see her again. She's such a great person.

"Judge me not by my religion,
Judge me not as white or black.
Judge me by my thoughts and visions,
Judge me by my plans and acts.
Judge me not by age and gender,
Judge me not by looks alone.
Judge me, lover and defender,
By the deeds that I condone.
The color of my skin won't show,
What is hidden in my heart.
And age and sex do not bestow,
Knowledge of all human arts.
Do I love? Give onto others?
Do I heal, or sing, or teach?
Do I learn from my life lessons?
Do I practice what I preach?
Those are things that judge my soul,
Those are things that judge my mind.
And at my deathbed they'll console -
Or they'll punish me in kind."

"Because all people are intimately connected with the universe at large, we both work for it and benefit from it. When you give to the universe with positive intentions, you naturally reap abundance."
Amy has an incredible talent. However, this young woman seems to be hell bent on self-destruction. I read her story last evening and she haunts me. Unlike many jazz singers before her, I pray she finds her place in this world.
I'm preparing for a move into a new home (new to me) and found an old cassette tape of En Vogue. I played it and found myself on a journey down Memory Lane. When I saw this video on YouTube, I couldn't help myself and had to share. I feel the video was very tastefully done even though it's full of sexual innuendo . The girls are beautiful, sexy, and very classy! It's been 15 yrs since its release yet I find the video continues to be very powerful.
Isn't the fidgety guy wearing glasses and suspenders the cutest thing? As to the INCREDIBLY GORGEOUS man who removes his wedding ring....SHAME ON YOU!!! *tisk, tisk!!

"The secret to the fountain of youth is to think youthful thoughts." - Josephine Baker
Throughout life we must cope with blockages that impede our forward momentum. Whether these obstacles are of a personal, professional, or societal nature, our first instinct may be to push against the obstruction. But the simplest way to alleviate resistance is to approach it gently, with a soft manner and kind intentions. Struggle and strife can find no foothold when confronted with mildness because conflict can only exist when fed by two opposing forces. So many areas of our lives can benefit from the application of gentleness. The beauty of gentleness lies in its multifaceted nature. It is part love, part compassion, part patience, part understanding, and part respect for others. When we move through life gently as a matter of course, we naturally attract these wonderful elements into our lives.
This does not mean that gentle people are by nature passive or meek. Rather, their copious inner power is manifested in their gentleness and their choice to move with the flow of the universe instead of against it. You can make use of gentleness in your own life by applying it in situations where you feel challenged by your circumstances or by people in your environment. As you move forward gently, the energy pervading your life will likely shift and, consequently, the blockages before you will vanish. Cooperation progresses smoothly when approached gently because all parties involved feel confident that their needs will be met. And quarrels are easily quelled with gentleness because the dualistic concepts of losing and winning are made moot by our willingness to exercise infinite patience with those whose values differ from our own.
Gentleness must be practiced, as we are inadvertently encouraged to act competitive in certain phases of our lives. At first, your established habits may make being truly gentle challenging. Yet after a time, if you commit to consciously applying gentleness to all areas of your life, whether by collaborating rather than competing or yielding graciously to the impassable roadblocks in your path in order to seek a new road, you will find that you begin to act gently habitually. Your patterns of thought and behavior become ever more peaceful, and you will discover that you encounter far less impassable resistance on your individual journey.

No Reason To Worry
Feeling Under The Weather
At times when we are detoxing our bodies, or going through the ascension process, we experience aches in our bodies and manifest flu like symptoms. We may find ourselves feeling fatigued and even sad, as if we might be coming down with something. This is a natural part of any cleansing process and commonly accompanies deep inner-work. As we are called to examine our emotions and our beliefs, which often prompts deep inner-changes as well as external shifts, our bodies grow tired. Feeling under the weather is the way they let us know that it's time to take a break. It's best to be easy on ourselves at times like these and not to keep pushing forward. Learning to listen to and honor our bodies is part of the process of becoming more conscious.
As soon as you notice you are not feeling well, make an effort to get extra sleep, whether by going to bed earlier than usual or working naps into your routine. You can also support your body by eating as healthy as possible, drinking plenty of water and herbal teas, and taking vitamins. Vitamin C is especially galvanizing to the immune system. Homeopathic remedies can also aid you in assisting your body in its time of rest and recovery. Talking lovingly to yourself, and your body, will also help. Beyond that, simply letting go of thinking and resting in the deep silence of your true self will speed your recovery. In addition, you can always call upon your guides and angels, asking them to ease the symptoms.
It is natural to go through times of feeling under the weather, so there is no reason for you to worry. On the contrary, feel free to let go of worry and rest peacefully in the knowledge that this too shall pass, leaving you stronger, healthier, and further along in your healing process.

The tipping point is a period of change wherein a creative minority can make a tangible difference by spreading positive ideas to the majority. It only takes a single individual to tip the wave. No effort is useless; it contributes to a larger outcome.

about me
I have found something very profound in Tribal dance. I LOVE IT!! I want to learn all I can about troupe performances as well as Tribal Fusion. Aside from what I've already listed in the profile, I have begun making my costumes as well as creating my own Tribal jewelry. It's not authentic, but what the heck? It gives me great satisfaction wearing my pieces when I perform. : ) And yes, I own more Afghan pendants than any girl should be allowed to have!
