I just uploaded some pics. I finished the teal bra, did it all-cowrie basically. It looks cute. Started a new bra, in a berry-red, with shells. Posted two pics of that work in progress. And I made four new cholis, which I love. Thank you thank you to Annabella for her choli pattern, which I used to great success on all those cholis. I have a pile of fabric for more cholis too. They're so quick and easy to make. Especially since I now own a serger (a Janome like my sewing machine, they are my favorite company for sewing machines). Weeeee!

Tribal PURA

This weekend I attended the DCTribal event, Carolena and Megha's Tribal PURA workshop. It was absolutely amazing. Carolena is even more impressive in person than on video - her presence, her dancing, listening to her talk. Yeah I'm a fangirl, what can I say. I wanted to ask her for a picture with me but felt stupid so I didn't. Kinda regret it now. Megha is a sweetheart, so smart and funny. Happy hour is over at 9 o'clock! Saturday we reviewed basic moves (taxeem, floreos, ribcage rotations, bodywave, shimmy, Arabic, Egyptian, and pivot bumps), did some combos and did Egyptian half turns, and then split into groups for some practice with a prescribed combination. It was a great exercise. Then some zill practice. Sunday (today! ha) we did more zilling, which I suck at and need to practice BADLY, spins and turns, Arabic hip twist with flourish, the Sahra turn in detail, and then spent time on discussing formations and dancing in a chorus, along with the spinning exercise of spotting off another dancer, dancing face-to-face and then doing spins. I have lots of notes for myself and a ton of stuff I need to work on. DC Tribal is going to try to make this an annual event and I hope I can make it next time too. It was a weekend well spent. And I did a bunch of shopping; the husband was all surprised to find out I spent $250 on belly dance stuff. Duh.

Beware of fakers

http://www.myspace.com/uaiintmebxtch This girl has been stealing pictures of my friend Tina's babies and posting them to her MySpace, pretending they are her children. After being twice reported to the police, she took them down. Yesterday we found out she'd put them up AGAIN pretending that they're her children! Now she has a photo of herself holding a different child who looks nothing like either of Tina's daughters, pretending it's her "daughter" who she previously had photos of Tina's daughter acting like it's the same baby. What kind of a sick person fakes being a mother and steals pictures of someone else's kid? How evil do you have to be to do something like that? And how stupid? Photo theft is not only a copyright infringement, but in cases like this where pictures of children are stolen, it is just a sickening crime. I am absolutely disgusted that this photo-stealing whore, who does not even have the balls to defend herself but continues her criminal activities after being informed that the authorities are aware of her activities, continues to exist on MySpace. MySpace has been made aware of her theft, and of the pending police cases about her, and they do not shut down her account and will not report her IP to Tina so that she can continue to pursue action against this criminal. So everyone please, email MySpace (not Tom! the actual authorities here!) and demand that this girl's IP is reported to Tina, who has contacted them numerous times about this issue, and that her account be suspended. If you're on MySpace, please post this as a bulletin, and remember to set your profile to private to protect your photos (hope you enjoyed that bit of alliteration), especially if you have children.
