Music is the speech of the soul.

Oriental music is one of Abdel Hazim's passions, as is Bellydance. Accompaniying and managing dancers is what he did for about 20 years, with succes.

Now he left that kind of life altogether to dedicate his time on the raising of his daughter and his job as programmer but never left his first love, music. Obstinate as he is, he produces his own interpretation or should we say own style of music. Very distinct of the mainstream. Some of his teachers are Hossam Ramzy (percussion), Asfour (nay) and many other oriental musicians.

Abdel Hazim has been beating the dumbek for Rana Miras of Turkey, Aziza Gizeh, Hadia of Canada, Natasha Atlas and many others...
Don't forget to check his large collection of ancient pictures (engravings, lithographs, postcards a.s.o.) on the theme of oriental bellydance. www.belly-dance.org

Bla bla bla...

In 1784. <Louis-Françcois Cassas traveled to Constantinople (now Istanbul) with the Count of Choiseul-Gouffier. He proceeded to Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Cyprus, and Asia Minor. Cassas drew many middle-eastern images on the spot, sometimes disguised as Arab. After Cassas returned to Paris in 1792, he published them with Choiseul’s aide.

More on Cassas and other travellers that pictured Middle Eastern dancers can be found at the Bellydance Museum:
