Well, the new year is here... I'm calling it 7.
Let me teach you about Goal Tending. This is from my Mentor, Jules Stept.
It completely transformed my confusion around how to break down a goal into small chunks at a time, so I could handle it with my ADD brain. I didn't feel overwhelmed with all my goals after learning this method.
I usually do a goal tending sheet monthly or biweekly, breaking each goal into those time chunks.
Then I can figure out what action I need to do within that time frame and prep myself for the next amount of time I will use for the next step of the goal.
There are only 7 aspects to creating a goal and working on it:
1. The Goal (Short and simple-- try in 5 words or less--make sure it is not a strategy to a bigger goal)
2. The Intention ( the emotion behind it--why you want to do it--how will you feel?)
3.The Strategies you will use to work toward that goal ( the action you will take--make sure this is not another goal but truly a strategy)
4.Resources (what do you need--what tools you will need to create that goal?)
5.Evidence (the proof that you are moving forward or have accomplished the goal-- Keep in mind you may not complete the goal in one time frame setting and may need more time)
6.Celebrate (How will you reward yourself-- what trophy will you give yourself?)
7. Goaltender Support ( who is supporting you in completing, making you accountable to complete your goal, who do you check in with in regards to your goal-- this psrt is why this works so well-- when you have a teacher or a coach or mentor to help you stay on track, you actually are more inclined to get your goals done because you are held accountable).
This in the easiest way I have found to create goals for the new year's intentions (notice I do not say resolutions--- to resolve to do a goal is to basically make yourself do it, to almost force yourself to do something you don't really want to do...not fun and seems somewhat arcane in this day and age).
I teach goal tending to my students and spiritual coaching clients. It is the first thing they learn.There are other aspects to this particular concept of intention setting/goal tending.
